Violet POV

Sharp terror skittered down my body when I saw the silver dagger glinting in the dark in someone’s hand. The presence of the person on my room's balcony filled me with confusion and fear. Because Opal was still sleeping, it was challenging for me to sniff the air and smell the person. So, with clenched teeth, I removed my blanket slowly and got up.

Holding my breath, I stood at the edge of the bed, trying my best to open my mind link with Alpha Dane, but I couldn’t. I felt incredibly miserable because I couldn't perform basic werewolf activities, almost to the point of tears. How could things be so bad for me?

The wolf on the balcony moved towards the room, holding his dagger to the side. The way my pulse thrummed and sweat trickled down my forehead that the chill of the night being no relief. I stayed in one place for a while, unable to take my eyes off the man outside. He took a step forward, sending my blood pumping.
