Willow Baker POV

Three Months Later

"Ready?" asked Rickey as he secured the backpack onto his back.

I nodded my consent as I held Asa close to my chest. "They shouldn't suspect a thing for a couple of days. It should give us a head start."

Looking at me and the baby, he said, "We'll need it."

He wasn't wrong. With a baby, we couldn't travel in our wolf forms, and since none of us had access to magic which could only be used by those with strong demon or angel blood, we had to settle for traveling by foot. It was really unfortunate that there were no other ways for us to travel easier or faster.

I could only hope that Rose remained duped until we crossed the border, but the chances of that happening were slim. If my previous life is any indication, she would find out sooner rather than later.

It had been a struggle to find the right time to leave. No

Rose demanded. One of the servants who was unfortunate enough to be there to deal with their mistress's rage dared to say, "W-we don't know, miss."She earned a slap for her troubles. Luckily for her, it was only a slap to the cheek instead of the whip.Rose turned away from her servants as she gnawed on her thumb. "She must have been secretly mocking me behind my back. How dare she leave without my permission. How did she even run off without anyone finding out?"The only reason she had allowed an unsightly thing near her was to make herself shine brighter. When they stood side by side which never happened, it was obvious who the better looking woman was.She did have other reasons besides that for allowing her to be her slave. One of the most important criteria she had was that anyone who worked for her

Maverick Peterson POVInclining my head in greeting to the knights guarding the entrance to my father's study, I stepped inside to see papers stacked high on the table. At first glance, it would be easy to assume my father was absent, but it was simply the papers blocking him from view."Father, has there been any luck regarding the matter we spoke of?" I asked as I bowed slightly despite knowing he wouldn't see it."I'm afraid not," he sighed. "No one seems to know what it is we're dealing with. There's a possibility that it might be the work of someone with angel blood."Considering our options, I could see why my father and his contacts would make that assumption. Werewolves couldn't use magic, and if no one with demon blood could identify the magic used, that only left the angels. This, unfortunately, meant we had reached a dead end.

Willow Baker POVA Day Later"We're being followed," Rickey suddenly whispered.I resisted the urge to look around for signs of pursuers, but Sheila didn't have the same control and glanced anxiously for them.Considering how we hadn't been attacked yet, I could only assume there was still a fair amount of distance between us. That wouldn't last, though. Sooner or later, they would catch up to us, and we would have to fight back.Fortunately, Rickey had the foresight to teach me self-defense in the rare moments we had in between traveling.Unfortunately, I doubt I could do more than stall them. A few days of inconsistent training were no match for those who trained every day without fail. I wasn't sure about Sheila, but Rickey would have no problems.I grinded my teeth. This was so frustrating. The border wasn't that far away, but the cha

The woman across from me flinched, and the teacup in her hands shook as she set it down."My apologies, something has come up that requires my attention. I'll have my servants escort you out," he said before he stormed off.'Did you sense that, Maverick?''Yes.'There were werewolves near the border by Prerana. The very border that they had been monitoring all these months for clues regarding the strange magic that had been used. Now our efforts were bearing fruit.Unfortunately, my father wasn't around. He had left the grand duchy to visit his friends in another country for advice. Whoever they were, they had chosen the right time to act if they wanted to avoid my father. They must have been wary of my father to wait this long.'If they t

Willow Baker POV'Ha, ha, ha! Nice going. You had one job, and that's what you say. Ha, ha, ha!''Will you stop laughing? You're not helping."My face was on fire as I groaned beneath the incredulous stares of everyone except Sheila. If I could, I would cover my face in shame and pretend none of this ever happened. It wasn't supposed to be like this. I had a plan for meeting and negotiating terms with Maverick, but now it was ruined. Nothing had turned out like I had planned. In fact, everything had gone wrong as soon as Rickey left us, and it wasn't even my fault. Rickey couldn't blame me for this. It was like those bastards had done it on purpose. After separating from Rickey, we had been in the clear with a straight line to freedom. Nothing was going to stop us when we had been jumped out of nowhere. I had no idea how they got around Rickey, but we were left with no choice exce

Willow Baker POVAsa had finally fallen asleep, leaving me with no distractions as I went over all my options again. I could still act like none of this happened and go with my original plan. My other option was to wing it and hope for the best.'Those aren't very good options.''I know. I'm drawing a blank here.''Well, think faster.''I'm trying here. It's not like I have experience with this kind of situation. I've never had to ask someone to marry me before.'Just thinking about it was surreal, no matter how many times I had thought about it in both my first life and my current one. If only Sheila was here, she could help me figure something out.Unfortunately, they had separated us, so I had no clue where she was or if she was okay. Maybe they were giving her the same treatment as me, but that was hopeful thinking on my part.

Do you know how many women have claimed such a thing?"I wouldn't be surprised if there were a fair number of women. Even if he had demon blood, there would always be people who didn't care about such things. They either treated people based on their actions or cared only about what they could gain from such a person. I was a bit of both."You've already seen her for yourself. You can't deny it," I said as I glanced down at her. "She has black hair and black eyes like you do.""Are you so certain that it's me?" he asked as he raised an eyebrow. What a ridiculous question. Maverick Peterson POV Staring at my hand, I couldn't help thinking that she was tiny. How did such a fragile and delicate creature give birth to my child? Recalling how she fought off the other werewolves and how she stared right into my eyes despite her fears, I mentally crossed off delicate. That was no delicate flower or toothless pup. If nurtured correctly, she would be a formidable member of our family and pack. "Master Maverick," greeted my knights as I passed them to observe the prisoners. Most of them were still alive, though with varying degrees of injuries. One in particular had clearly been healed and beaten numerous times. At my questioning stare, Timothy was quick to answer, "His words displeased the men." My men normally wouldn't be moved by this sort of thing. What happened earlier was an exception. To hear that they treated the prisoner worse than any criminal they had dealt with before did not bode well. They stood right behind me as I stepped toward the prison

  • Luna's Revenge: Willow Baker's Marriage Request   Author's Note

Hello everyone. I just want to thank all my readers, especially those who have been following until the end. It's been a long journey. In fact, I believe this book, from start to finish, took almost 7 months, which is a long time. Again, I'm grateful to have all of you. Now, onto what I intend to do next. I have several ideas, but currently I hope to start on Asa Peterson's story. It's going to be about Willow and Maverick's daughter, but with a twist.Instead of being a direct sequel to Luna's Revenge: Willow Baker's Marriage Request, it follows the first life after Willow dies and basically runs almost parallel with it. As such, there might be some spoilers, but it's not required to read both books. They're both standalones.I really hope to get this story off the ground. However, I do have other stories so we'll see how everything works out.Anyway, thank you all again for reaching the end with me. I hope that you all continue following me and have a great day.

Willow Baker POV A Year Later "Willow, are you ready?" Sheila asked as she, Maverick's mother, and Diana stepped into the room. As I stared at the woman in the mirror, I immediately said, "No." My arms shook as I said, "I really can't do this." "What's wrong?" she asked as she immediately rushed over to me. "I don't think I'm ready to get married," I said as I whirled around in my wedding dress. "Willow," Maverick's mother said as she took my hand. "You've already been part of the family for more than three years. We're only making sure you get the wedding you deserve." 'I can't believe I agreed to go along with this crazy idea. Why do we need to have a wedding when we're already husband and wife?' 'I don't have a clue either. You're the one who agreed to it when Maverick asked to marry you, and he even gave you a chance to back out.' I still had mixed feelings when I recalled that incident. It still boggled my mind that he had asked to marry me when we were already married, a

His smile blinded me and left me in a daze as he slipped the ring onto my finger.Feeling the metal on my finger, I quickly said, "Wait. What's going on?"His smile dropped as he said, "I proposed. Did you not want to marry me?""That's not what I meant," I said as I held both my hands up. "I mean, aren't we already married?""We are, but I want us to be properly married," he said as he stood up. "All we did was sign some papers and file them to formalize our marriage. I want us to have a wedding. It doesn't have to be big. It can just be us and our families or j

I had used to be embarrassed about holding his hand, but now I found myself reaching out to him whenever I can."It's nice out," I said as we continued to walk through the garden. The only sounds were the sounds of the wind and whatever animals were out and about. Basking in the peaceful atmosphere, I still found it hard to believe a year had passed in the blink of an eye."It is," Maverick said with a smile, and he squeezed my hand."So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" I asked."What makes you think I brought you out here to have a talk?" he asked. "I could just want to spend

His smile fell when his eyes spotted Maverick right behind me. "Oh, you're here. I didn't ask for you.""I asked him to be here," I said as I held up my arm before Maverick could raise his voice.Lesli tilted his head to one side as he asked, "Why? Did you think I would do something to you?" When I didn't bother to give him a response, he raised his bandaged and chained arms up for us to see. Willow Baker POVUnfortunately, the beautiful moment was ruined as a servant approached us. We stepped away from each other as Maverick frowned. They knew to leave us alone unless it was a serious matter."My apologies, your graces," the man said as he bowed. "The prisoner is acting up and demanding Willow's presence."There was only one person he could be referring to, but before I could say anything, Maverick said, "Willow will not be seeing him. I should have you punished for your insolence."The man quivered beneath Maverick's bloodlust. Asa squirmed at the sensation, but she didn't become upset like the last time she had been exposed to it. I wasn't sure whether I should be glad or upset.Reaching out to touch his shoulder, I said, "Maverick."

She clapped her hands as they returned back to the table where I was sitting. Unfortunately, I had been wrong. I had been so very wrong. It seemed like a fire had been lit, causing the family to work even harder to ensure we were a proper couple. Well, at least the women were. The men had kept out of the whole exchange, and I wasn't sure how to feel about that.On one hand, it was better than having all of them gang up on me and Maverick. On the other hand, they weren't helping us and were choosing to stay on the sidelines. Rickey seemed to take particular glee at my suffering.'At least someone is enjoying themselves.'
