Willow Baker POV

A Day Later

"We're being followed," Rickey suddenly whispered.

I resisted the urge to look around for signs of pursuers, but Sheila didn't have the same control and glanced anxiously for them.

Considering how we hadn't been attacked yet, I could only assume there was still a fair amount of distance between us. That wouldn't last, though. Sooner or later, they would catch up to us, and we would have to fight back.

Fortunately, Rickey had the foresight to teach me self-defense in the rare moments we had in between traveling.

Unfortunately, I doubt I could do more than stall them. A few days of inconsistent training were no match for those who trained every day without fail. I wasn't sure about Sheila, but Rickey would have no problems.

I grinded my teeth.

This was so frustrating. The border wasn't that far away, but the cha

The woman across from me flinched, and the teacup in her hands shook as she set it down."My apologies, something has come up that requires my attention. I'll have my servants escort you out," he said before he stormed off.'Did you sense that, Maverick?''Yes.'There were werewolves near the border by Prerana. The very border that they had been monitoring all these months for clues regarding the strange magic that had been used. Now our efforts were bearing fruit.Unfortunately, my father wasn't around. He had left the grand duchy to visit his friends in another country for advice. Whoever they were, they had chosen the right time to act if they wanted to avoid my father. They must have been wary of my father to wait this long.'If they t

Willow Baker POV'Ha, ha, ha! Nice going. You had one job, and that's what you say. Ha, ha, ha!''Will you stop laughing? You're not helping."My face was on fire as I groaned beneath the incredulous stares of everyone except Sheila. If I could, I would cover my face in shame and pretend none of this ever happened. It wasn't supposed to be like this. I had a plan for meeting and negotiating terms with Maverick, but now it was ruined. Nothing had turned out like I had planned. In fact, everything had gone wrong as soon as Rickey left us, and it wasn't even my fault. Rickey couldn't blame me for this. It was like those bastards had done it on purpose. After separating from Rickey, we had been in the clear with a straight line to freedom. Nothing was going to stop us when we had been jumped out of nowhere. I had no idea how they got around Rickey, but we were left with no choice exce

Willow Baker POVAsa had finally fallen asleep, leaving me with no distractions as I went over all my options again. I could still act like none of this happened and go with my original plan. My other option was to wing it and hope for the best.'Those aren't very good options.''I know. I'm drawing a blank here.''Well, think faster.''I'm trying here. It's not like I have experience with this kind of situation. I've never had to ask someone to marry me before.'Just thinking about it was surreal, no matter how many times I had thought about it in both my first life and my current one. If only Sheila was here, she could help me figure something out.Unfortunately, they had separated us, so I had no clue where she was or if she was okay. Maybe they were giving her the same treatment as me, but that was hopeful thinking on my part.

Do you know how many women have claimed such a thing?"I wouldn't be surprised if there were a fair number of women. Even if he had demon blood, there would always be people who didn't care about such things. They either treated people based on their actions or cared only about what they could gain from such a person. I was a bit of both."You've already seen her for yourself. You can't deny it," I said as I glanced down at her. "She has black hair and black eyes like you do.""Are you so certain that it's me?" he asked as he raised an eyebrow. What a ridiculous question. Maverick Peterson POV Staring at my hand, I couldn't help thinking that she was tiny. How did such a fragile and delicate creature give birth to my child? Recalling how she fought off the other werewolves and how she stared right into my eyes despite her fears, I mentally crossed off delicate. That was no delicate flower or toothless pup. If nurtured correctly, she would be a formidable member of our family and pack. "Master Maverick," greeted my knights as I passed them to observe the prisoners. Most of them were still alive, though with varying degrees of injuries. One in particular had clearly been healed and beaten numerous times. At my questioning stare, Timothy was quick to answer, "His words displeased the men." My men normally wouldn't be moved by this sort of thing. What happened earlier was an exception. To hear that they treated the prisoner worse than any criminal they had dealt with before did not bode well. They stood right behind me as I stepped toward the prison

Willow Baker POV'You jinxed us.''Sorry, I didn't seriously think it would turn out like this.'Who would have thought that first thing in the morning, I would be greeted by the current Grand Duchess, Maverick's mother. I didn't even have time to mentally prepare myself before I was forced to sit down and have breakfast with her.Not to mention I was severely underdressed. I hadn't exactly packed to impress the mother of the father of my baby. All I had were the simple dresses Sheila had put into my bag, and said bags were still confiscated. With no other options, I was forced to wear what I had been wearing last night, which was a grimy shirt and torn pants. Seeing how beautiful she was in the long undoubtedly expensive purple dress had me dying on the inside.Glancing at the empty seats at the long table, I couldn't decide whether or not it was a good thing that Mave

Willow Baker POVScrambling, I grabbed the cup of water—thankfully, it was water and not alcohol or some strange beverage that only demon blooded werewolves drank—off the table. Once I drained the cup, I gasped for air. The Grand Duchess paid me no mind as she was focused on Asa, which was great for me as it gave me time to recover from that unexpected request.'Well, she certainly doesn't beat around the bush."'No kidding.'I didn't think the first thing the Grand Duchess would want from me was another child. We already had Asa, who I assumed would be the heir unless stated otherwise. There was no reason for us to have another one, especially so soon. Raising Asa would be difficult enough on its own.In my previous life, she had seemed like a dear, and she had eventually become well-behaved when I held her. However, I hadn't spent as much time with her in the beginni

"I never thought that was your type.""What do you mean, mother?" I asked as I returned to my work.Even with magic, my father wouldn't be able to receive my message until a few days later. Until then, I would have to handle the matter regarding the men and women under my care. Unfortunately, most of the men had died during the interrogation, despite our best efforts. While I didn't blame my men for reacting poorly to the toxic verbatim that came pouring out of their filthy mouths, I couldn't let them go unpunished. They were trained knights of the Peterson family and members of the Moonshine Pack. Their behavior reflected poorly on me as the future leader of both. What would people think when they heard pri

  • Luna's Revenge: Willow Baker's Marriage Request   Author's Note

Hello everyone. I just want to thank all my readers, especially those who have been following until the end. It's been a long journey. In fact, I believe this book, from start to finish, took almost 7 months, which is a long time. Again, I'm grateful to have all of you. Now, onto what I intend to do next. I have several ideas, but currently I hope to start on Asa Peterson's story. It's going to be about Willow and Maverick's daughter, but with a twist.Instead of being a direct sequel to Luna's Revenge: Willow Baker's Marriage Request, it follows the first life after Willow dies and basically runs almost parallel with it. As such, there might be some spoilers, but it's not required to read both books. They're both standalones.I really hope to get this story off the ground. However, I do have other stories so we'll see how everything works out.Anyway, thank you all again for reaching the end with me. I hope that you all continue following me and have a great day.

Willow Baker POV A Year Later "Willow, are you ready?" Sheila asked as she, Maverick's mother, and Diana stepped into the room. As I stared at the woman in the mirror, I immediately said, "No." My arms shook as I said, "I really can't do this." "What's wrong?" she asked as she immediately rushed over to me. "I don't think I'm ready to get married," I said as I whirled around in my wedding dress. "Willow," Maverick's mother said as she took my hand. "You've already been part of the family for more than three years. We're only making sure you get the wedding you deserve." 'I can't believe I agreed to go along with this crazy idea. Why do we need to have a wedding when we're already husband and wife?' 'I don't have a clue either. You're the one who agreed to it when Maverick asked to marry you, and he even gave you a chance to back out.' I still had mixed feelings when I recalled that incident. It still boggled my mind that he had asked to marry me when we were already married, a

His smile blinded me and left me in a daze as he slipped the ring onto my finger.Feeling the metal on my finger, I quickly said, "Wait. What's going on?"His smile dropped as he said, "I proposed. Did you not want to marry me?""That's not what I meant," I said as I held both my hands up. "I mean, aren't we already married?""We are, but I want us to be properly married," he said as he stood up. I had used to be embarrassed about holding his hand, but now I found myself reaching out to him whenever I can."It's nice out," I said as we continued to walk through the garden. The only sounds were the sounds of the wind and whatever animals were out and about. Basking in the peaceful atmosphere, I still found it hard to believe a year had passed in the blink of an eye."It is," Maverick said with a smile, and he squeezed my hand."So, what is it you wanted to talk about?" His smile fell when his eyes spotted Maverick right behind me. "Oh, you're here. I didn't ask for you.""I asked him to be here," I said as I held up my arm before Maverick could raise his voice.Lesli tilted his head to one side as he asked, "Why? Did you think I would do something to you?" When I didn't bother to give him a response, he raised his bandaged and chained arms up for us to see. Willow Baker POVUnfortunately, the beautiful moment was ruined as a servant approached us. We stepped away from each other as Maverick frowned. They knew to leave us alone unless it was a serious matter."My apologies, your graces," the man said as he bowed. "The prisoner is acting up and demanding Willow's presence."There was only one person he could be referring to, but before I could say anything, Maverick said, "Willow will not be seeing him. I should have you punished for your insolence."The man quivered beneath Maverick's bloodlust. Asa squirmed at the sensation, but she didn't become upset like the last time she had been exposed to it. I wasn't sure whether I should be glad or upset.Reaching out to touch his shoulder, I said, "Maverick."

For once, we were together not because someone had done something to make it happen, and I was quite happy about it.Maverick finally caught Asa, who laughed even harder when he raised her up into the air. She clapped her hands as they returned back to the table where I was sitting. Asa immediately reached out to me.Standing up, I took her from him, and we both settled down to enjoy the tea and snacks that had been left out. Unfortunately, I had been wrong. I had been so very wrong. It seemed like a fire had been lit, causing the family to work even harder to ensure we were a proper couple. Well, at least the women were. The men had kept out of the whole exchange, and I wasn't sure how to feel about that.On one hand, it was better than having all of them gang up on me and Maverick. On the other hand, they weren't helping us and were choosing to stay on the sidelines. Rickey seemed to take particular glee at my suffering.'At least someone is enjoying themselves.'
