"And why is she calling you? Isn't she married? She should be asking her husband for help first," Hanna told Ethan.

"Wait, Hanna. Let me remind you: you're not my real girlfriend. We're just pretending. You have no right to tell me what I can or can't do with my life. You're getting paid for this job," Ethan retorted.

It felt like a slap in the face.

Hanna released Ethan's hand. Why was she losing touch with reality? And why did it hurt?

She seemed jealous, even though she had no right to be.

Hanna laughed to mask her embarrassment. "Sorry, Mr. Miller. I got too into my role. Go ahead and see Ms. Jenner. She might need you."

Ethan didn't hesitate and left immediately.

Hanna sank onto the soft bed.

What was happening to her? She slapped her cheeks to remind herself that they were only pretending. A CEO couldn't fall for a cleaner.

Hanna left Ethan's condo, carrying the expensive phone he had given her. But why wasn't she happy? Weren't material things supposed to bring joy?
