CHAPTER 9 - HE WILL MAKE IT UP TO ME

NICOLE'S POV

It's almost like Shelly knows that I have plans for her because she's has been avoiding me and even when I see her, she's never alone but I am not bothered because it might take a while but I will eventually isolate them one by one and teach them an everlasting lesson.

"You should get dressed." Ruth suddenly said and it's kind of surprising because I am in jail and I can't wear anything other than this fucking orange uniform.

"Is that a joke, what else can I possibly wear?"

"That's not what I mean, I mean you should try and look presentable. Fix your hair and use this white powder to brighten your face." She instructed and I am finding it difficult to understand why?

"Why, what's the occasion?" I asked curiously, I mean I know that it's Saturday and she's getting ready for her family but why do I have to get dressed as well.

"Come Nicole, have you forgotten that today is Saturday. The hot doctor might come visiting." Well I will love that but he didn't say that he will come and I don't want to get my hopes high.

"I don't think he will come this weekend, he doesn't owe me visitation."

"Are you kidding me, what if he shows up and you are unprepared, you know the guards won't wait for you to fix yourself up." She pointed out as she put her hair in a tight ponytail.

"You have a point, the first time he visited, he didn't tell me that he was coming, he just showed up. Maybe that's what he is trying to do again." I jumped down from my bonk and I tried to fix myself like Ruth suggested.

There is actually nothing I can do to look any better, there is no makeup or different clothing, all I can do is to make sure that I don't look rough.

"Benedict 84, you have a visitor." The guard said as soon as she got to our cell.

"Sorry guard but what about her?" Ruth asked.

"If she had a visitor, I would have said so. Are you coming or not." The guard said harshly.

"It's fine, maybe he is running late of something. Just go, I will join you soon." I don't even know if I believe what I just said but I need her to go, she has been looking forward to this visiting day. Her fiance hasn't showed up for three consecutive visiting weekends now and she's been really worried but honestly, I think the guy is probably done with her.

"Yeah you are right, he is probably late. Anyways see you soon." She left the cell with the guard and I climbed back to my bonk and laid down.

I stayed in bed for what felt like hours, waiting patiently for one of the guards to call Kingston 42. I hate when they call me that but I will give anything right now to hear someone call me that but the longer I stayed in bed and listened to the guards call other people, it dawned on me that he is not coming today. "He is definitely not coming." I said to myself.

I should have followed my instincts and not expect him but I allowed Ruth convince me. "It sucks to be here by myself." I mean I am usually here by myself every time Ruth has visitors and I was okay with it but not anymore.

After I accepted that he is not coming, I decided to take a peaceful nap. Most of the cells are pretty empty, so everywhere is quiet and calm, it's the perfect time to actually take a nap.

I woke up to the sound of someone unlocking the cell gate and I was scared that someone was trying to break in and hurt me but I relaxed when I saw that it was the guard locking up after bringing Ruth back.

Ruth is usually looking dull whenever she returns from the visit and that's because it's hurt to watch your love once leave after a visit but she is partially looking sad. It's not just because her parents left, I think it has something to do with her fiance.

"He didn't show up, did he?"

"No, he didn't. My parents said he has stop visiting them and they have no idea where he is. What if something is wrong with him, like maybe he is sick or missing." Or maybe he is just tired of the relationship but I can't tell her that because of how sad and broken she looks.

"Well your worries are valid but I think he is fine, maybe he is just busy."

"Too busy to make out time and see me just once in a week, is that even possible?" She asked in disbelief as she started pacing around the small cell.

"You know what, give me his full name and I will call someone to look for him." I offered because even if he is done with her, she still deserves an explanation. Ghosting her is a crappy way to break up with her or anyone else.

"Really, you will do that for me?" She asked while cleaning her tears.

"Of course, I will. What's his name?" I know his name is Peter but I need his last name.

"Peter Mendoza and he stays here in Miami." She gave me his full address both his home and office address.

"Okay, they will look for him okay? Don't worry, I am sure that he is fine." I know visiting your fiance here in jail will be difficult for him but it's definitely not as excruciating as what she's going through here.

We stayed in the cell gisting about random things till it was time for dinner, I am actually very hungry but I have to handle Ruth's issue first.

"Go ahead to the hall, I will catch up with you. I need to make a call."

"Okay." We walked in two different directions.

It's not time to make calls but I know a guard that will grant me the favor, I have helped her once and she owes me... After talking to her, she gave me access to the prison phone.

I don't like making calls here because they track the calls but today is different, I am not saying anything incriminating.

"Hi, it's me." He definitely knows that I am the one because he is the one paying for the call.

"Yes, I know." He said plainly.

That's why I like him, he is very smart. He knows that this call is being monitored, so I know he won't say anything stupid or suspicious.

"I need a favor, a friend of mine is worried about her fiance. Can you please look for Peter Mendoza, make sure that he is doing okay and bring him here to visit her tomorrow."

"Okay, I will. Any idea where he stays?" Mike asked and I gave him the address in codes.

"Alright, I will jump on it."

"Cool, thanks." I hung up the call and I returned to the dining hall to meet Ruth.

She was already sitting on our regular table with her tray of food, so I picked up my tray and collected my food before joining her.

"Is it done?" She asked curiously.

"Yes it has been handled." I trust Mike and I know that as long as Peter is alive, he will be here tomorrow to visit Ruth but I don't want to tell her yet, I want it to be a surprise but if he doesn't show up, he is probably dead or locked up somewhere.

"Thank you so much, I am very grateful."

"Don't thank me yet, wait till they find him." I started eating my food even though it's so unappetizing and the only thing on my mind is the food I ate at Asher's office a few days ago which was fucking delicious.

"I'm sorry that I convinced you to dress up for your hot doctor and he ended up not coming." She apologized even though it's not on her.

Although it was very painful that I was so hopeful about seeing him and then he didn't show up and I had to force myself to sleep.

"It's okay, it's not your fault. I guess he has better things to do." I am not trying to be pathetic or anything like that but he spends his entire week here and I don't think that it's fair to expect him to show up here on the weekends just for me.

"He is probably busy." She said the same thing I said to her a while ago.

"No he is not, he just didn't want to come today and it's perfectly okay, I am not upset... He had a busy week and there is nothing wrong with him doing other things that doesn't relate to prison." I continued eating my food.

"Well you are right."

"Of course I am right, I am always right." I teased her and we both started laughing. "Besides he will make it up to me." Sexually, I added in my mind.
