Isabella sat in the quiet of Andrew’s car as they drove away from her family’s home, the weight of the decision she’d made pressing down on her chest like a suffocating blanket. The rain drizzled against the windows, mirroring the storm of emotions swirling inside her.

She could still hear her mother’s voice in her head, pleading with her not to leave, warning her that she was making a terrible mistake. Alonzo’s cold anger rang in her ears as he accused her of running back to Andrew, of letting herself be manipulated by the same man who had broken her heart.
