Chapter 24

Andrew stood in the middle of his apartment, the silence ringing in his ears. He glanced around the living room, his brow furrowing with confusion. Where was Isabella? She had promised she would stay with him, that they would get through this together. But now, the apartment felt hollow, like a shell of its former self.

“Isabella?” he called out, his voice echoing off the walls. “Are you here?”

He hurried through the rooms, checking the kitchen, the bedroom, even the bathroom. But there was no sign of her. A sinking feeling began to settle in his stomach as he pulled out his phone. He scrolled through his contacts, finding her name, and pressed call.

The phone rang and rang, but it went straight to voicemail. He tried again, then again. After several attempts, he let out a frustrated sigh, running a hand through his hair.

“Where the hell are you?” he muttered to himself, pacing the room. His mind raced with possibilities.

'Had she gone to see David? No, she wouldn’t. She couldn’t
