Olivia's POV “That jerk had the guts to cheat on me after all we've been through all these years. You can imagine that!” I spewed, raging within me. My fists were clenched tightly, like I was ready for a fight, while I burned in fury and frustration. “C'mon, I understand you're hurt, but I think you should take things easy.” Franca, my best friend, who sat next to me said, in a forlorn attempt to calm me down. “He’s my fiancé for crying out loud!” I raised my left hand to show her the glittering diamond ring in my middle finger. “Our wedding has been fixed for a month's time. What would my rivals think of me? How could he do such a thing to me?” Franca heaved a deep pitiful sigh and said, “Men would always be men. I think you should move on, unless you still love him.” “I do, Franca. I still do! I can't stop thinking about him every day!” I replied in a voice laced with frustration. “Then you have to talk to him and probably, find out who the strange woman is,” she repl
Evelyn's POV I sat at the dining table opposite Liam, to eat the delicious meal I had just taken my time to prepare. We hardly ate together, so I cherished the precious moment, a moment of the closeness we shared, despite the fact that the atmosphere was tense and his aura was dominating. We had hardly begun eating our meals, when Liam's phone rang from the dining table where he had placed it. I impulsively peered at the caller ID to know who it was that disturbed our peaceful meal, only to find a long array of different love emojis. My heart sank into my stomach, as he snatched it quickly from the table and strode briskly to his room upstairs. I raised suspicious eyebrows and followed him stealthily, after a while.. I paused abruptly by the door of Liam's bedroom, as I overheard him speak so softly on the phone to the person on the other end. I felt intrigued by the conversation, especially because I've never seen him assume such a sweet and captivating tone. He only growls and
Olivia's POVI stretched groggily out of bed, rubbing my sleepy eyes with the back of my palm and stared at the clock hung by the sparkling white wall. It was half past five. I have just thirty minutes to get dressed up to meet Liam, the love of my life. It's been a hectic day at work today. I've worked my ass off since morning and had decided to take a few hours off, to unwind and to have some rest before I go catch up with Liam.I got out of bed hastily and went to the bathroom sink, to have a quick face wash, before I began applying makeup to my face. I sure needed to look good for my sweetheart. It took me only a few minutes to do that and after which, I stood elegantly and stared at my reflection at the mirror. “Stunning!” I muttered with a satisfied grin.My dressing and make up was simple and at the same time, exquisite. I had packed my mid-brown lush hair into a neat ponytail to contrast with my make up and dressing. My red dress was form-fitting and it did well to accentuate
Evelyn's POV “You should leave for the mall to shop for the groceries and clothes now!” Liam reminded me, at about five minutes to six in the evening. “Sure, I will,” I replied with a smile, a smile that masked the real feeling I felt within. I found it all too glaring that he was so keen about my going to the mall at the exact time he had wanted me to. Was he a stickler for time, or did he have other plans I knew nothing about? Whichever way, I jolted up to my feet and took a few strides to the centre piece, where he had kept the long strip of white paper, in which he specified the items he had wanted me to purchase, their quantities and their prices, and the credit card he placed beside it. His rules were strict and prudent, I wondered whether he was a spendthrift. ‘Don't pay for what you won't use! Don't spend more than three thousand bucks!’ I had rehearsed them at intervals inwardly, to ensure that I memorized them, so I didn't get on his nerves at the end of the day.
Liam's POV “What the hell is she doing here?” Olivia snapped angrily at me. I kept mum, my gaze fixed to the black and white patterned floor. I never expected Evelyn to be back so soon, despite the neverending list of items I had sent her to purchase from the mall. Now, how would I tell Olivia that I was already married to the lowlife that even wouldn't qualify to be a maid in my house? How could I explain that it wasn't my fault? “Are you married to her already?” Olivia asked impatiently. My heart pounded hard in my chest. I don't want to ruin my relationship that I have spent so many years building, not when we're on the bridge of getting back together. I also didn't want to make the poor woman's life more miserable. Evelyn has been loyal to me, despite how badly I treated her. Although I had stated it clearly to her right from day one, that there were no feelings and no commitment in this marriage, I knew she deserved better. “I'm talking to you,” Olivia grew aggressive
Liam's POV “Where am I? What am I doing here?” I asked, darting my eyeballs from side to side.A youngman in a white oversized lab coat, with a stethoscope hung across his neck, stood beside my bed, smiling weirdly at me. His bright smile didn't do much to lessen my anxiousness.“You're in the hospital, sir. You hit your head and got severely injured. Don't worry, you'll be fine,” he answered, still smiling.“You're lucky your wife brought you in here on time. You would have lost your life, if she hadn't,” he explained further.“What? My wife? Which wife?” My head was totally blank.I tried hard to recall the events of the previous day, but my memory failed me. All I could remember was running into the shower and nothing else. My restless hands wandered about and reached for my forehead, only to find it bandaged. So many thoughts flooded through my mind.“Yes, your wife. Why are you so surprised? She's in the waiting room,” the doctor said and left to call her.Evelyn walked in quick
Evelyn's POV“Oh my… Goodness!” My eyes widened with shock as I stepped into my room. “All of these for me? This is super expensive!”“Oh yeah they're all yours. You deserve even more! Thank you for saving my life,” I heard Liam say from behind. Was I dreaming? I thought he hated me. Why the sudden show of generosity? Did I really deserve all of these?I grabbed the rose flower and held it close, while looking through the gift box. My eyes caught sight of a folded white paper slipped into the giftbox. I quickly unfolded it and read what was written on it inwardly.I felt so emotional as I read through the tiny paper. Teardrops trickled down my eyes, wetting the paper, even before I was done with reading it.“You deserve the best, Evelyn. I'm so sorry I had treated you wrongly all these while,” Liam apologized.“Thank you so much, sir,” I replied, my vision blurred with tears.“C'mon, you shouldn't call me ‘sir’ for goodness sake. I'm your husband, you can call me Liam,” Liam said, to
“Are you pregnant?” He asked again, in a hoarse tone I was breathing very fast. My cheeks reddened as I stared at his flushed face. “Did you suddenly go deaf? Are you pregnant?” He reiterated, with a harsher tone. I quivered at the coldness in his expression. My fingers were shaky and my palms grew sweaty. “I…I'm sorry, I…” I stuttered. “Tell me the truth. Are you pregnant or not?” Liam asked again. “I'm sorry sir. I… I don't know what is wrong with me,” I muttered, with trembling lips. “Look here, I'm not in for any jokes of yours this early morning. Did you use the pills that night?” Liam asked, sternly. Liam's frightening gaze was fixed at me. I lowered my gaze immediately and swallowed hard. How would I tell him that I only wanted to keep his child? Was it my fault that I loved children? “N…No… I…I sorry please,” I stammered. Liam clenched his teeth in fury and glared at me with contempt. “We'll go see the doctor right away, to put an end to that stupid thing
