Surprise

Liam's POV

“Where am I? What am I doing here?” I asked, darting my eyeballs from side to side.

A youngman in a white oversized lab coat, with a stethoscope hung across his neck, stood beside my bed, smiling weirdly at me. His bright smile didn't do much to lessen my anxiousness.

“You're in the hospital, sir. You hit your head and got severely injured. Don't worry, you'll be fine,” he answered, still smiling.

“You're lucky your wife brought you in here on time. You would have lost your life, if she hadn't,” he explained further.

“What? My wife? Which wife?” My head was totally blank.

I tried hard to recall the events of the previous day, but my memory failed me. All I could remember was running into the shower and nothing else. My restless hands wandered about and reached for my forehead, only to find it bandaged. So many thoughts flooded through my mind.

“Yes, your wife. Why are you so surprised? She's in the waiting room,” the doctor said and left to call her.
