ADELINE’S POV

I had been calling Xander's number, but it kept going to voicemail.

I needed to see him and understand what was happening. Why was not he picking up? I kept asking myself and I felt desperate to hear from him.

I left my room and walked to the sitting room. Drew, the head security guy, was standing there. He was a tall man with a stern face, always looking serious about his job.

"Drew," I called out, my voice shaky. "Have you seen Xander? Do you know where he is?"

He looked at me with calm eyes. "Xander will be here soon, Miss Adeline. He asked me to stay here and make sure you're safe."

I nodded, feeling a bit more at ease but still anxious. "Okay, thank you."

I sat down on the couch, my mind racing. I couldn't believe that Xander had actually helped save me and sent security to guard me without even telling me. It was both comforting and confusing.

I wanted to know why he did it, what made him take such measures to ensure my safety and how he knew I would be attacked.
