XANDER’S POV

I walked out of the bar, my heart pounding in my chest. The night was dark, and the streets were almost empty. I pulled out my phone and dialed Drew's number.

Drew was the owner of the security agency I used whenever I needed security. He picked up immediately.

"Drew, it's Xander," I said, my voice urgent.

"Xander, what's up?" Drew replied, sounding alert.

"I need ten of your best men around Adeline's house 24 hours a day, every day, without a break.

She's in danger and needs protection. No one should know they're guarding her house," I explained quickly.

"Got it, Xander. Noted. I'll get on it right away," he assured me.

"Thanks, Drew," I said, ending the call. I felt a bit of relief knowing she would be protected.

But my mind was still racing. How could Matt want Adeline dead? He had introduced himself as her boyfriend the first time I met him. Now he wanted to kill her? There was so much I needed to know.
