Chapter 6

Logan kept smiling as the ten million was really nothing to him, and not even all of the Watsons' houses could fit the number of people who wanted to suck up to him.

It was all the more laughable that they were content with just ten million!

Still, Ivy was suddenly whooping as she leaped from her seat, a broad grin showing on her pudgy cheeks as she hugged Zac's arm with her ridiculously thick ones. "That's wonderful, darling! You finally have Daddy's approval!"

Zac was stunned too.

Gavin Sobel, his father-in-law, was Jerviston's top banker, but he never gave a damn about Zac even after Zac married his daughter.

While there was occasionally financial assistance, the man made it look like he was offering them alms.

But this time, he was investing ten million in Watson Jewels!

Even Zac was left speechless for a long while, until he noticed that everyone was looking at him, and he smiled smugly.

His recent performance must have earned Gavin's approval! That explained the investment!

"For sure!" He laughed. "After all, I worked so hard—he must have seen that!"

"Hahaha!"

Stan was laughing too. "My son is as amazing in his career as he is good-looking, earning the Sobels' favor! Now remember, boy—your father-in-law sent such an amazing gift to encourage you, so make sure to work even harder!"

Zac grew even more smug. "Don't worry, Dad—Gavin has already told me that I could work for him in an executive position once I had enough experience!"

"Good! Good!"

Even Thomas was beaming in approval, regarding his grandson with increasing approval. "It's your birthday too—let's drink to your career, and don't forget about us when the Sobels take you in."

Hearing that exchange, many of the relatives who were looking at Logan in surprise earlier were now leering at him in contempt.

To think that they had almost believed the ten million was Logan's investment—in the end, it was an investment from Zac's father-in-law! It was all just a tall tale that Logan told!

Logan was perplexed too, as he had asked Yancy to get them an investor, albeit without adding further conditions.

And by sheer coincidence, Yancy had gotten Gavin Sobel.

Nonetheless, Stan then remembered something. "Logan, you were saying you'd be able to get us a ten mil investment too? Where is it? I don't see it."

Logan kept a straight face as he pointed at the piece of paper that the butler brought. "That's it right there."

Everyone around the table was taken aback, but Zac soon laughed out loud. "Hahaha! Logan Bell, are you saying that this ten million from my father-in-law is from you?"

"Where else could it come from?" Logan asked flatly in return.

Zac snorted in amusement. "You must be suffering from brain damage! Gavin is my father-in-law, and it's my birthday! The ten million is definitely for me, or did you think it's for a loser like you?"

"It's only right to be realistic, Logan!" Stan scoffed as well. "The ten million is my son's present from his father-in-law, but you're trying to claim credit for it?! You could go ten lifetimes without earning that much!"

"Stop! That's enough!" Thomas snapped from the main seat, while leering at Arnold's family in disappointment. "I'm not trying to chase you off, Logan, but it's as I've said: prove your worth before we accept you!

"Hell, I won't ask that you excel as Zac did, but you're not even a tenth the man he is! Why don't you go home and beg your uncle instead? If your own family accepts you, then you'll have a place with us!"

Logan smirked at those words—Thomas certainly knew how to make himself sound noble!

The man did not even care about ability, as all they did was try to climb the social ladder through association.

Nonetheless, Thomas soon turned to Arnold as well. "And you! The biannual income summary of the two outlets is due—if you can't reach five hundred grand in sales, let Stan take over the businesses!"

Various expressions alternating over Arnold's face.

Those two outlets were the only source of his income!

But even if he was reluctant, Arnold was helpless as he hung his head. "Yes, Father."

"Alright now, let's eat." Thomas snorted, not keen on further arguments.

Still, Luna nudged Logan with her elbow. "What are you doing? Why did you say that the ten million contract is yours?"

Logan chuckled. "Oh, but it is—that contract is my gift to you."

"Can you stop it already?"

Luna sighed in exasperation. "Gavin is Zac's father-in-law, and it's Zac's birthday—it's just a gift!"

She certainly could not understand why Logan was doing this—it was just attention seeking, plain and simple!

While she would concede that he still cared after he crashed her wedding, he was just being unrealistic, and it frustrated her.

Logan smiled in exasperation in turn. "Alright, I'll stop."

Arnold snorted at him just then. "I didn't want to snap at you, but just look at Zac, and then yourself! If you were even half the man Zac is, our family wouldn't be thrown to this table!"

He was clearly blaming Logan for everything.

If Logan had not appeared out of nowhere, he would not have suffered such neglect!

"Exactly!"

Sue snapped at Logan too, considering him as no more than a loser crying for attention. "If you have a conscience, you'd better go and beg your uncle to take you back. Even if it's as a lapdog, it's still a million times better than your situation now!"

Just having him around was embarrassing!

"That's right!" Zac suddenly turned to laugh at Logan. "Why don't you go back to the Bells and pretend to be a dog? Maybe they would feed you out of sentiment! Haha!"

Logan looked at him sideways. "Like you, you mean?"

"What was that?" Zac glowered. "I'm saying that with you as you are now, not even the Bells would want you if you were to go back to them and beg them to take you back, loser!"

However, that was when Thomas' butler came running again, his voice cracking as he cried, "Master Watson!"

"What is it this time, Gus?" Thomas asked in curiosity.

"The Bell family! They're here!" Gus exclaimed excitedly.

"What?!" Thomas exclaimed in shock, springing to his feet.

Everyone else put down their forks and knives too, trading glances.

The Bell family was such an illustrious family that the Watsons were maggots in comparison!

"It's Frank, their butler!"

Thomas was immediately on his feet, as any person from the Bell family was a big deal.

They might have the audacity to insult Logan, but they would never do the same against the Bells!

And soon, a towering figure entered, followed by eight valets!

"Ah, Frank." Thomas immediately went up to greet the man.

"Out of the way!"

Frank did not even look Thomas' way as he strode past the other man, his eyes fixed on Logan as he rushed up and suddenly knelt on one knee before Logan.

"Welcome back to the family!" Frank cried, his gaze at once worshipful. "A car is ready and waiting. All that's left is you, sir!"

The hall was left dead silent.

Logan was puzzled too—he had entrusted Yancy with the task but only asked for him to get them an investor and nothing else.
