Chapter 5

Various expressions alternated over Arnold's face.

Despite knowing that his father would be furious, he still did not expect to be denied a place at the main table as the second son!

Still, as Arnold made a mental note of yet another grievance against Logan, the man in question suddenly sat down at the main table.

"Who allowed you to sit here?!" Stan was immediately on his feet and snapping angrily, "That's my son's chair!"

"Why can't I sit here? It's empty."

Logan shrugged and turned toward Arnold and Sue. "Come on, Pops—join me. They said it's a birthday party, so shouldn't we be more casual about this?"

Everyone was left staring at Arnold's family, audibly talking about them, while Arnold and Sue would very much like to bury their heads in the sand.

Logan really did not know a thing, and they were probably doomed!

"My father is telling you to leave, Logan!" Arnold snapped even as he flushed.

The brat was going against his father's will as soon as he showed up—he clearly was looking for trouble!

Talk about humiliating!

Still, a couple approached just then, one of them snapping icily, "Please move. That's my seat!"

Logan turned, actually shocked when he saw Zac standing behind him, holding his wife's hand.

After all, Ivy Sobel's reputation really preceded her in Jerviston, what with her seven-foot frame and arms that were thicker than her own thighs.

Coupled with those sagging cheeks, she had to be at least a hundred and eighty pounds, if not two hundred!

And Zac really married her…?

"What are you looking at?!" Zac snapped curtly as he noticed Logan's stare. "A piece of shit like you is trying to sit at the main table?"

Ivy smirked, pointing a fat finger at Logan and snapping, "Exactly! Move, or my bodyguards will beat you up!"

Logan sneered in turn.

So that was why the Watsons would actually celebrate Zac's birthday. He had managed to climb the ranks with the Sobels' help!

Ivy even turned toward Luna just then. "Keep a leash on your boy already. This is the main table, and your family doesn't deserve to be here!"

Luna glanced at Logan exasperatedly, but Logan was being a little embarrassing.

What on earth was he doing, and on an important occasion like this?

Tugging on Logan's arm, she snapped at him under her breath, "Get up. Let's sit over there!"

Logan glanced at Zac and Ivy, and then at Ivy before chuckling wryly, but he ultimately moved to the next table with Luna to spare her from further embarrassment.

However, Zac smirked at Logan as he called out, "Waiter! Bring me another chair—this one's jinxed!"

That left Arnold's family scowling—especially Luna, who felt utterly aggrieved.

If Logan had not sat on Zac's chair, they would just be scolded once at best, instead of suffering Zac's contempt!

And even as they sat, Thomas was snapping at Logan, "You're not leaving?! Fine! You can stay for this dinner, but you'll get a divorce with Luna tomorrow. You can have a hundred grand on me as compensation."

While everyone was stunned, Luna abruptly snapped, "Grandpa! Why would you want us divorced?!"

"He has no right to stay with us!" Thomas bellowed icily. "If he really cares about you, he shouldn't have crashed your wedding! Marrying Hal Jackson is a million times better than marrying him!"

That was when Logan patted Luna's hand, gesturing for her to stay quiet while he turned to Thomas. "And why do I have no right to stay?"

Thomas laughed coolly. "Do you still think you deserve Luna?! Your company is gone, and your family disowned you four years ago! And as soon as you showed up again, a three-million-dollar investment was lost!

"Luna should be marrying rich, not suffer with a piece of shit like you!"

Though Thomas made sure to emphasize his insults, Logan simply grinned broadly. "So you're saying that the Watson family can accept me if I rake in profits?"

"Hah!"

Thomas snorted, looking Logan right in the eye as he scoffed. "You, bring in profit? You're a fugitive wanted for murder! Did you think you could start from scratch without your family's protection?"

"Forget three mil—show me five hundred grand right now, and I'll acknowledge you as my grandson-in-law! Can you do that?!"

Everyone was silent, save for the people laughing out loud around the main table.

However, Logan smirked. "Five hundred grand? Your appetite has really shrunk, old man. How about this? I'll send someone to offer a ten-million-dollar investment to Watson Jewels for my wife's sake."

There was silence again, followed by everyone laughing out loud again.

Zac especially was brought to tears. "Oh, Logan… Are you going to rob a bank? And ten million, you say? Why don't you wake up already? Hahaha!"

"What a joke!" Stan scoffed. "Could you even show us ten grand right now? And you have the audacity to say ten million—who would ever believe you?"

Even Sue was snarling through her teeth, "Stop embarrassing us, you vain prick!"

It was fine if Logan was boastful within their duplex, but he had to do it in front of Thomas?!

Had he not embarrassed them enough?

Be that as it may, Logan smiled but said nothing.

A ten-million-dollar contract? That was no more than pocket change to him.

In fact, if he was willing, he could help propel the Watsons, elevating them among the rich and important.

But unfortunately for them, they did not deserve that!

Nonetheless, that was when Thomas' butler came running into the hall, exclaiming, "Good news, Master Watson! Gavin Sobel has just sent an agreement worth ten million!"

Everyone around the table was left gaping before collectively turning toward Logan.

He really managed to fork out ten million?!
