Chapter 2

Even Arnold could not help getting nervous at the sight of the officers who had shown up out of nowhere.

And for some reason, they were following Logan's orders?!

The hotel security team leader was trembling in fear right then—it was only natural, when he found himself facing so many barrels at the same time.

Nonetheless, Logan waved behind himself. "Stand down."

In an instant, every officer lowered their guns at once.

While every onlooker did not dare to make a sound, Logan turned toward the hotel security team leader with a faint smile. "Are you still going to restrain me?"

"I-I…"

The hotel security team leader could not speak coherently at all.

Restrain him?! The police clearly served at Logan's beck and call, and he did not want to get shot!

Seeing that he was silent, Logan pressed, "If you're not going to restrain me, doesn't that mean I can go in?"

"Yes, yes you can…"

The hotel security team leader nodded repeatedly.

In the end, he was just a glorified guard dog!

Stopping a man who could command the police was suicidal!

That was when Logan turned toward the officers. "You may go. Your assistance isn't necessary for now."

"Yes, sir!" The captain nodded and promptly barked at the others, who disappeared into the crowd.

As Logan strode toward the front doors unimpeded, he chuckled in cool amusement. "Don't bother entertaining your guests, Pops. This wedding is over—it's time for them to leave."

In other words, he was saying that the wedding was canceled!

Arnold was left staring at him in shock as he left, and it took a while for him to come to his senses.

The brat certainly was not a loser now—in fact, Logan did not have the police under his command back in his glorious days!

What did he do in the past four years?

Even as Arnold started to run inside the hotel, he snapped at a bellboy, "Warn the Jacksons! That brat is definitely trouble!"

Ten minutes later, a bride was sitting behind the dressing table backstage, the reflection of her pretty face at once haggard. Her skin was more sickly than fair, and her pure gaze was staring vacantly at a crystal pendant.

It was a gift from Logan back then—a token of their love.

Though the pendant was still here with her, Logan was gone without a trace, and he was not returning even after four years.

"You slut!"

Smack!

Hal suddenly appeared, striking her hand and knocking the crystal pendant to the floor while he ranted, "You're marrying soon, but you're still thinking about another man?! Don't think I can't tell that it's from that loser!"

His cheeks were flushed—he clearly had too much to drink, and there was a brief flicker of disgust in Luna's eyes.

"So what if it is?" she retorted nonetheless, arching her back to pick up the pendant. "I've told you—I'm only marrying you because I have no choice. You can renege anytime if you don't feel like marrying me."

If anything, she was very much hoping that he would.

"Hah! Dream on!" Hal laughs coldly. "I don't mind giving it to you straight—I'm definitely marrying you today! And with a woman like you, I'll dump you once I've had my fun! Hell, you're not the first one I've had some fun with. Don't give yourself too much credit just because we're getting married!"

In fact, he was raring to go, with Luna's pretty face and beautiful dress.

For four long years, he had been chasing after her.

But tonight, he would finally have her!

"All your family wants is to climb the social ladder," he gloated. "Hell, your mom sold you off just for a couple mil! Not even I would value you so highly after Logan's had his way with you so many times!"

Tears welled up in Luna's eyes, her dainty knuckles clenching as the man insulted and humiliated her.

When was Logan coming back?! Did he not care that his woman was being humiliated?!

While Hal was still raving, he suddenly pointed at the pendant. "Wait, it's still not broken?! Give it here!"

Luna was caught by surprise and quickly hid it behind herself, her glare defiant.

"Is that a no?!" Hal snarled viciously as he strode up, raising his right hand for a vicious slap!

Luna flinched in reflex, but just as Hal was about to reach her, someone caught his wrist, and…

Pow!

With one sweeping kick, Hal was launched like a bullet!

Soon, Luna found herself staring at an unfamiliar man, leaving her at once shocked and confused.

"Apologies for the delay, ma'am," Yancy O'Neill apologized, afraid to look up at her.

Talk about being saved by the bell!

Naturally, after Yancy followed Logan here to Jerviston, his primary mission was to ensure the missus' safety, as Logan's right-hand man.

And then there was this prick, ready to hurt Overlord's woman.

How dare he!

"Fucking brat! You've really done it now!"

Hal's face was contorting viciously in turn as he clutched his stomach and rose to his feet. "How dare you hit me! Don't you know who I am?!"

He started running toward Yancy, only to stop after just a couple of steps as Yancy turned toward him, suddenly holding a dagger in his right hand.

His eyes were also flashing murderously and sharp as a blade, leaving Hal stumbling backward and trembling from head to toe.

"Stand down, Yancy," a voice called out from the doorway just then.

Naturally, it was Logan.

Turning to see him, Yancy promptly sheathed his dagger and retreated to a corner.

Luna was left stunned for a while now, surprised that anyone would step up to stop Hal, let alone a stranger.

That was until she turned toward the man standing at the door, and she started to understand a little.

Who else could it be, if not her husband?

But was he really back?

Was she dreaming?

"I've come to get you, Luna."

Logan spoke in his quiet, deep voice as he strode in, completely ignoring Hal.

In his eyes, there was only Luna, the woman who had waited for him over the past four years.
