EVELYN

“I managed to get you a seat at the next court hearing. Don't ask me how I did it, just know that I did it.”

I was shocked, to say the least. I mean, we'd been trying to get just anybody to talk about what happened and somehow, he was able to get me a seat in the next hearing?

“Don’t tell me you made me a juror.” I joked.

He gave me a side-eye.

“I’m powerful but I'm not that powerful. You'll be attending the meeting as an intern to a friend who's also a lawyer on the military's side. I was able to speak to him and he was willing to take you on as long as you don't cause any trouble.”

What trouble would I want to cause? The only thing I can do is curse Javon while he stands there being guilty because I know he is.

With the kind of man he was, he couldn't tell me that he wasn't guilty. I didn't know the full background of the story but he hadn't given me reason to believe that he was any more innocent than the military was trying to make him.
