EVELYN

I didn't plan to let him know of my involvement early which is why I was surprised when he saw me outside. But it was all good.

Early or not, it still didn't change the fact that I was now the lawyer.

I'd received a call last night, saying that Mr Fulham, the man I was supposed to be under, had called in sick and he had asked that I take his place. At first, I couldn't believe what I was hearing because the chances of this happening at this point were so slim, but it had happened, and now, I was here.

“Plaintiff, you say you have a witness in court today?”

Even though I'd done this many times before, my heart was still beating in my chest as the judge called for me. But I didn't show it.

“Yes, your Honor. I do.”

I turned to the audience.

“Sergeant Clay. Please step forward to the podium.”

As the man walked up to the podium, I took that time to steal a glance at Javon. Based on what I'd heard and read, Javon should react.
