JAVON

“Does that date have any significance to you?”

I kept thinking about it as I rode in the car away from the court house. Was it supposed to?

I'd tried speaking to her when we were done to ask her why she asked me such a question.

“Gaia, please wait up.”

Other lawyers were around her and I was skeptical that she might not answer me.

They gave me weird looks as they walked away.

“What is it, Javon? You know you shouldn't be speaking to me, I'm a lawyer. And not your lawyer.

“Listen, I know. I just wanted to ask you something. Why did you ask me if the date meant anything to me?”

She rolled her eyes and looked away.

“What do you want to hear? I asked you because I needed to know what I would use to bring you down and of course, you didn't remember. What was I expecting? It never meant anything to you.”

Before I could process her words, she walked away.

What did she mean by the last sentence? Was it supposed to mean something to me?

I couldn't get my mind off it.
