THE SHIELD withstood the spears, breaking them in the end. After that, the broken spears turned into tiny shining dust and floated in the air while Xurden took a deep breath to calm his racing heart. He had released too much spiritual energy, which made his body hot. His surroundings also started spinning because of the sudden dizziness that struck his head.“Accept your fate. You’re supposed to die anyway even before you came here to this world,” the vassal said as he flew down. The vassal landed on Xurden’s front a few inches away, stepping a foot on his face.He was about to kick Xurden when balls of black and white fire came out of nowhere, coming towards them. The balls of fire mixed with each other before hitting the vassal’s side, creating an explosion and thick smoke. Because of this, the vassal jumped back again to avoid any attacks that would happen. As the wind blew, the thick smoke faded away where the two foxes appeared. They both had furs as white as the snow. The only d
XURDEN woke up in a drilling pain all over his body. When he opened up his eyes, he saw himself lying down on his bed. He tried moving, but the pain became unbearable. In the end, he just looked around the room with only his head moving. He could feel he was not alone in that room. He was not wrong about his guts because he found Yric standing by the window, holding out a book. The early sunlight hitting the younger boy made him partially blind, which was why he closed his other eye. A sense of melancholy surrounded Yric, and he knew why, because he already had a grasp of what would happen next. What occurred last night was just like a dream to him. If things get out of hand and the first realm would find out about it, he would get an extreme punishment that would lead possibly to his death. When he sensed Yric was about to turn his head, he immediately closed his eyes. Now that he closed his eyes, he could sense him more than just like before. He couldn’t feel the actual demon in him
SEBASTIAN approached his bed with a worried expression on his face. But his henchman hesitated to touch him and stood beside the bed, not knowing what to do. Because of the extreme pain in his chest, he was sweating again. He could no longer understand what was happening to him at that moment. Since he couldn’t do anything to stop the pain, he just lay down and breathed properly to calm his nerves. Fortunately, the chest pain had decreased and he could endure. His henchman also spoke when he was no longer struggling.“What’s wrong, boss?” Sebastian asked him.He looked at the ceiling of his room. “My chest hurt so much when Yric left,” he mumbled.“You don’t have heart disease. Why would it happen?” Sebastian said, confused. He poured water into a glass and handed it to him.He accepted the cold water, which he drank in just a few gulps.“I don’t know. Maybe it has something to do with our fate.” He returned the empty glass to his henchman.“Then why did you send him away?” Sebastian
YRIC stood on the very tip of a tree overlooking the cottage in the middle of a dense forest. Green leafy vegetables filled the land around the cottage. At the very end of the garden, the water wheel spun moderately toward the current of the river. The cottage looks like it’s rotting in the distance because of the blackening woods used in its walls. His servant, Cyno, was standing by his side. They were observing the inside of the cottage through the eyes of his other servant, Al. He could see the cottage’s living room where the witch Veronica and her cloaked companion were talking. Based on their conversation, he concluded that the cloaked man was the controller of their group. He waited for them to keep on talking in case they would say something more. He sensed something familiar about the man but he couldn’t figure out where he meet him.He had met many people and other creatures, so he was not sure. The woman was sitting on a wooden chair drinking tea while the man was just stand
XURDEN didn’t know how long it has been since Yric left his house. He didn’t bother to check what day already it was. Because if he kept on thinking about him, he wouldn’t accomplish anything. He made himself busy catching the demons on his list. The day was already dying, the sun’s red smeared over the city, and the wind against his face had grown cool. The sunlight cast red glints on the cylinder he was holding, flashing so that his eyes stung and his vision blurred. Now, the only thing he needed to do was to take back the last demon from Yric. But he didn’t have the strength to face the younger boy. Even though Yric told him something different from his servant’s wishes, he wasn’t still sure if he would agree if he went to him. Yric didn’t visit him even once. If he was really important to Yric, the younger boy would let him see him once without him looking for him.He pulled his attention from the cylinder and turned his head to the alley where Sebastian walked out after cleaning
XURDEN had no clue what was his plan that day. He couldn’t do anything. His thought had been wandering off somewhere. That was why he let his feet take him anywhere they pleased; like they had a mind of their own. He had not decided yet about taking back the demon he needed from Yric. He was having a hard time seeing what he should do right and the wrongs he should avoid. As he wandered, he ended up on the island where he saw Yric. He just passed by the restaurant where Yric once ate while he watched him from outside. He could only sigh deeply as he remembered that night. His hunches about Yric were not wrong. His suspicion was so valid that Yric kept on denying before. He stopped checking the restaurant when the female server came out of the restaurant. She was wearing a red uniform with an apron tied around her waist. She stepped towards him fast with a smile on her face.“May I help you, sir? I’ve been watching you from inside. Do you want me to recommend you something from our res
Xurden had been waiting for a long time now for his both servants to arrive where he was. The stars had already come out in the night sky, twinkling clearly while the round moon glowed. He made a stop in front of the store, not because he wanted to, but Tear bought something to eat. Tear was a demon who like to eat human food. The demon kid had lived for a very long time in that form, but he was still somewhat of a child. He just follow his every move from the outside until Tear picked up a pack of gummy bears from the shelf before paying the cashier. It didn’t surprise him that Tear bought something sweet to satisfy his buds.Tear walked out of the store with no visible emotions on his face. But he was truly happy that night. The demon kid just didn’t know how to express his inner feelings. He drank the cold soda while looking at the kid. Tear opened up the plastic packaging as he approached the table and ate the gummy bears in bundles.“Didn’t Yric teach you how to eat properly?” Xu
They moved out of the canyon and climbed the rocky part to get to the top. They were too far from the road that the carriage should have taken. Xurden looked behind the demon kid while climbing. His servants stayed quiet on his back in order not to offend Tear, since they were on his territory. After a while, they reached the ground above by not stopping. Tear turned to them to check them without a word. Sebastian raised his hand to ask permission to speak. Tear looked at his servant and waited. His servant saw it as a sign that was why Sebastian spoke out of what was on his mind.“Why don’t we use the portal to get to the town?” Sebastian hesitantly asked the demon kid before lowering his hand.“You can do it if you want to get caught,” Tear said to Sebastian. “We won’t be here if we can use the portal. I would have done it in the beginning if that was just easy.”“I am just asking.” Sebastian removed his attention from the demon and frowned.Xurden didn’t stop himself from speaking
