I get to Jens room and I hear quiet sobs, my heart clenches and I knock, “Jen love, it's me, can I come in?’ I wait for a few moments, before I slowly open the door, She's curled up on her bed, in the fetal position. The tears are free flowing and I can feel her pain, making my heart tug and my wolf howl. ‘Mate’ he growls in my head as I walk to her side. I climb on the bed with her and wrap my arms around her, picking her up to place her in my lap. I hold her and caress her back in a small circle, feeling her relax into me. “Why would he say that to me?” She starts to cry again, “I don't know love, I don't know” I’m struggling to not be angry, I hate seeing her in pain. “Do you think he’s right?” I go still at her question. My wolf also stops in his tracks. “No, I don't think he’s right, We weren't brought together just to be kept apart. This is fated, we belong together, We will make each other stronger.” She somewhat relaxes into me again as Bex enters the room.
“What's going on?” she asks clearly concerned. “Marcus told us that we should wait to have the ceremonies for fear that she will lose her vision ability” I reply, my jaw tight. Jen starts to stir, and I move her gently beside me. “Why would he say that?” Bex asks, anger replacing the concern on her face. “It makes no sense.” “I don't know but, it hurt Jen more than anything, and he also threatened to go to the Alpha if we don't comply.” Jen snaps her face toward me at the news, “What?” The pain in her eyes is almost more than I can take. I pull her close and start to caress her again, comforting her as well as myself.
“I think we need to talk to dad Teddy, I think he may be able to help.” Bex says. I glance at Jen, who nods her head in agreement. Bex heads to our family wing to get dad, I help Jen get cleaned up a bit before my parents show up.She’s sitting on her sofa as my parents and Bex walk in. Dad closes the door behind him and they settle in the chairs around us. I hold her hand in mine and relay the story to my parents.
My father looks at us with pain in his eyes and a thoughtful expression. “I’m not sure what to say” he says, "There isn't much in the history books about oracles with mates, but the goddess fated you to each other, so there is that. I think we need to talk to Alpha, let him know your thoughts and feelings as well as Marcus’. We need to make sure that we do what is needed to not only protect the pack but your union as well.”
My mother walks over to us and places a hand on my mate's head, “Jen darling, I think Josh is right, I think we need to make everyone's concerns heard, and I think Marcus wronged you both by approaching the subject the way he did. I know you love my son and that he loves you, and I also know the goddess does things that don't make sense a lot, look at me and Josh for example. But this, you two, this makes the most sense I have ever seen.” She bends down to kiss my mate's head as well as mine. “We will get through this”
I'm struggling to sit here and not hold onto Jen with every fiber of my being, I want her in my arms, not next to me. I take a deep breath. “Jen, love, do you want to talk to your father?” I ask. She looks up at me with tears in her eyes, and pain on her face. “I guess we should” I nod in agreement, and ask my father to get us an audience. I want this done in his office, so we have a record of the meeting. I pray he gives us the answer we want.

I’m a bundle of nerves while we wait to hear when we can have a meeting with my father. I'm scared he's going to agree with Marcus, I keep looking at the clock, ‘how has it only been a few minutes?’ I think. I grunt as I crash on the couch next to Bex. “This is taking forever!” I sigh in frustration. Teddy had gone with his father to request an official audience with my father, and my understanding was that my brother was already talking to my father. “Maybe your father is already talking to Teddy” Bex offers hoping it calms me a minute, “He better not be, I need to talk to him!” I take the throw pillow that's next to me and bury my face in it and growl. “I hate this so much!” I have never wanted to smack Marcus before a day in my life, but he's pushing me. How dare he?! I have never stood in his way, why is he trying to stand in mine?! I'm starting to get more irritated. I get up and start pacing again waiting for Teddy and his father.
I catch Teddy’s scent before he says my name. “Jen love” I rush to him, letting him wrap his big arms around me. I bury my face in his chest as he holds me, gently rocking side to side. His scent is so calming for me.
“We have an appointment with your father in 5 minutes” Papa Josh says. “Do you know what you want to say?” he asks. “Yes” we both replied. We turn and head toward my father’s office. My stomach is doing somersaults and I am latching onto Teddy, like a sloth, not wanting to let go.

Bex“Mom, I screwed up” I say as I finally get my nerves in order. “Okay, honey, how did you screw up?” I didn't know how to tell her what I had done, I didn't want her to be angry with me or disappointed, but I had to tell someone. TeddyI can't stop the tears that fall as I hold her hand. My heart hurts knowing the pain she is going through. The monitors are still beeping letting us know she is still here. Dr Case has said that once she starts to wake the pain will be more than before, the healing process would hurt worse. My wolf can’t feel Ava, and I’m scared as to what that may mean. No oracle before has been without their wolf, they are the anchor to her and the goddess. Her breathing is slow and steady as Dr Case has given her sedatives to keep her asleep while they work on her to help her heal. TeddyI hurry back to Jenni as quickly as I can. My mind isn't on anything but her. I have to be close to her, I feel like I can’t breathe unless she is close. I need to touch her, to hear her breathe, to see her. As I walk into the room I look at the Dr and her mother, “No Change Teddy.” Luna says. My heart drops more.
