Thanks but no thanks
My eyes sailed quickly around when I heard crackles and footsteps from not far away, where I was. Lush trees and thick grasses surround me where a creature is hiding. I became alert and my system seemed to be in fight mode immediately for what could happen.
I slowly step forward while scanning the surroundings because I knew in the dark there might be a hidden werewolf that for me is an enemy even in physical form, werewolves are just like me.
I positioned myself as the crackle from the lush grass grew louder. I know that creature is coming and I have to be ready. I backed away when three large wild pigs came out of the lush grass ready to rush to have me as their dinner but I would not allow them to do that because I was not born just to be eaten by any creature.
I conditioned myself to change form. I wouldn’t be able to match them if I only have two feet flat on the ground. I need two more feet to do so. I felt the gradual change in my body. The color of my eyes turned blue like a sky. My teeth were positioned and had fangs. I could feel my sharp nails and the coming out of white hair all over my body. It’s as if my bones are breaking and reforming into a different shape and growing bigger.
“Grrrr!” seemingly terrified voices of hungry wild pigs.
They stepped forward and surrounded me.
“Grrr!”
I retaliate to show that they will not intimidate me. I stepped back to keep my distance and be prepared for the attack of these hungry pigs. My eyes were fast so I saw the rushing pig towards me, I run towards the pig and both fell to the ground, I locked it with my body. The pig tries to unlock as I try to bury my claws in its body but I felt another pig get on my back.
Angry squeals can be heard in that forest.
With all my might I jumped with the wild pig behind me, he bounced away and I saw him get slapped at the big tree. Another pig rushed in, I jumped and get on its back. I jumped again and as I landed, I awarded a scratch to the pig. I heard its voice caused by the pain. I took a leap again because I knew the other two would start to attack. In an instant, they bounced off the big tree and fell to the ground feeling so weak.
I know my capacity in battle and I also know I have enough strength to throw them.
“Grrr!”
I stepped back and quickly ran away from that area. I passed big trees and lush grass and I look like a car running too fast.
When I reached the house in the middle of that forest, I was back to my original physique. I had no cover so I took the dress that was out there and put it on.
“Where are you from, Syrie?” Trina greeted me.
“We’ve been looking for you for a while,” I ignored her, I just went straight to the kitchen to drink water.
I’m used to fighting wild animals in the jungle and that gives me satisfaction that I can’t explain.
“You left again, Syrie? Why didn’t you tell me?” I looked at Vernon with a serious face while he’s looking at me. With his pale face but contains beautiful shapes, he’s undeniably a very handsome vampire.
“Do I need to do that, Vernon?” I can handle myself and I don’t have to say goodbye when I am leaving. I’m not a child anymore!” I stepped into the living room and heard the two of them following.
“Don’t be so stubborn, Syrie. Even if you have memorized the jungle you still shouldn’t go out alone. Not all the creatures in this jungle know you neither you know their abilities. What if a group of people finds you’re a wolf?”
My eyes rolled at Vernon’s sermon that even though the words used were different, it meant only one thing — I shouldn’t go out alone.
“Vernon is right, Syrie, not all the time you can be yourself,” Trina agreed. I sat on a chair with my forehead meeting my fingers. I’m tired of their sermons.
“Haist! You guys are worrying for nothing. I’m not a fool to let myself get hurt. I’m not starting to revenge yet, Vernon! And I’m not going to waste my life!” I said with emphasis on the last words.
“As I expected,” Vernon said softly with his forehead being scratched.
“Oh! But where’s Persuz?”
“Volter called him and Ferry,” Trina replied.
I just nodded and stopped talking. Trina and Vernon are sisters and they are both cousins of Volter who I consider my brother. They are both vampires and I am the only werewolf in the high family of vampires. And because of that, I opted to be separated from Volter. I’m different and a lot of vampires object to me staying there.
“Are you sure that I don’t need to accompany you anymore, Syrie?” Trina asked as I manage to go to Volter. He sent a vampire here to tell me to come over.
“Just stay here, Trina,” I said without looking around.
“Just wait for Vernon and say Volter called me,” I turned to her and said goodbye.
I got on the horse and ran that fast. As the horse ran fast, I was startled and worried when it suddenly stopped, I almost fell on the back of the horse which I knew is worried because of the creature around.
I moved the horse’s leash to calm it down but it didn’t seem to have any effect because every move of the horse became even more aggressive. So before I could fall behind the scared horse, I get off and watched around. I knew creatures are spying from somewhere.
It is getting dim, and darkness was spreading around. The clouds are orange in color and the cool breeze is touching my skin.
After getting down from the horse, it quickly sped off to where I just let it go because I knew I would fight again. I sniffed to smell what creatures are around. They are just close and I know that at any moment they will rush. I frowned but there were no wild animals or werewolves around, if not vampires. I backed away as my eyes rotate around.
The lush grass crackled. Not just there but crackling all around. I became more alert. I knew that those vampires would dare to attack me even if I consider them to be on my side.
“A werewolf lady! Hmm”
I quickly turned to the source of the voice and I saw an insanely smiling man who seemed eager to bury the sharp fangs in my neck.
“Good luck, bro!” said another man who appeared on the other side.
“It’s also been a long time since I killed a werewolf,” the first vampire to appear said as he looks deeply at me.
“Can we join?” I turned to the one who spoke and saw two female vampires, both with long hair. They also wear black jackets. So did the two men.
Are vampires deliberately fond of black?
I smirked. “It’s gonna be fun,”
I gave them sharp looks and I prepared myself.
“It will,” replied the second man.
Don’t they know me? I am considered Volter’s sister and the vampires that would mess up with me will be in a bad state.
I saw how pale vampires transformed. Their eyes quickly turned red than four o’clock. Their fangs had gone so long and their nails became sharp like a sharp knife. The vampires opened their hands as their fangs come out as if they are teasing me.
I reciprocated that.
“Grrr!” Then I pulled out my white teeth.
“Don’t you know me? You will regret your audacity!”
“Do we still need to recognize who you are?” one asked and they laughed.
“Do you think you can handle us all?” asked one of the female vampires.
“What do you think, girl?”, my classy reply.
“I didn’t become a werewolf just to be defeated by sucking vampires like you!” I added.
My words draw annoyance and anger on the faces of the vampires as if at any second they will rush.
“You’re too arrogant!” returned the first man to emerge.
“Well, if that’s your opinion, go ahead!” my annoying reply to him, then cracked up.
“Don’t say too many words, fight if you gonna fight!” replied another woman.
The vampires looked at each other and nodded. I became ready immediately, I stepped back to keep up. I could see each attacking pair from the left and right sides of my sight. I calculated what my move would be. This is not the time for me to be a werewolf. I jumped when they are nearly approaching, looking up four at once. I quickly landed behind the two men and grabbed them by their clothes. I picked them up with all my might and threw them on the lush grasses.
I am moving very fast, I jumped again when the other two rushed forward. They almost simultaneously unleashed punches and scratches that I immediately avoided. They even tried to kick me which I also avoided when I bowed. I was the one who unleashed the blows, they avoided those but I did not let them avoid all my attacks. They jumped as if they gonna vomit –a satisfying reaction for me when they received my hard punches and strong kicks.
The two got up from my throw, they quickly approached me. They punched me so I bounced somewhere. I winced but I also recovered quickly. I’m not the type that’s easy to defeat. I ran towards the two men, I knew they would use their speed but they didn’t know I would use slow motion so I could see their every move. I opened both my hands, then turned around and there I caught the necks of the two men but I forgot the other two, it’s too late…
But I was so surprised because nothing touched me and I just heard the two women moaning in pain. Thus, I tightened my grip on the necks of the two men. I threw them away with all my might. I could see them hitting the big tree following their disappearance.
“Are you okay?” I turned to face the man with the baritone voice. I know, he’s not a normal werewolf. I can feel his strange presence.
“Did someone tell you to help me?” I said calmly to the strong man who has a beautiful head and face.
The formation of all parts of his face seemed to be excellently done. The thick eyebrows, sharp nose, blue eyes that are quite deep when viewed, and his slightly thick lips seem as soft as an expensive bed.
The man was surprised by what I said. He couldn’t believe that despite his help, I still got the chance to display a rude attitude.
“Huh?”
“Do you think I will praise you just because you helped me? No way! I can fight by myself and I don’t need anyone’s help,” I proudly litany.
He is an enemy and I don’t have to be complacent or feel at ease towards him. Besides, I just knew him a minute ago, it’s even more strange to think why he acts so kind, humble… and cool (maybe)?
The man smiled incredulously.
“I didn’t know there’s someone like you in the werewolf race. I helped you because of your situation. Can’t you just say thank you? We came from the same race,”
I smiled. “In your dreams! I won’t thank you and besides, I don’t belong to your breed. I’m different!” annoyed I said.
“I have not been with you all in a long time and will never be with!” I quickly ran away from that man.
I know they are enemies, but why can’t I start my revenge on that man?
Second timeI was greeted by many vampires scattered in the area where Volter live. They are all staring at me with fear in their eyes. None of them wanted to come near. Am I so intimidating that even if I just pass by, fear will show on their faces?Since the death of my identified vampire parents, I no longer stayed in this place because I felt it was too crowded for Volter and me.“Miss Syrie, Chief Volter has been waiting for you for a while,” the woman stationed at the entrance of the house greeted me. I just nodded and followed her.The door of the room opened where there is Volter. He is sitting on the swivel chair while his legs are crossed and facing me with a smile.“Welcome to our house, Syrie!” he said. My forehead furrowed. This is not what I expected him to open up to me. I examined his face but it was blank as if he&rsqu
Syria’s planVernon and Trina threw a lot of questions at me when I got home last night while Persuz was just quiet from the corner. But who wouldn’t care and be intrigued to ask if you came home wearing a man’s clothes and no underwear other than a jacket?“You seem to be thinking deeply, ah?” My mind seemed to get relax immediately. I turned to Trina who was wondering.“Oh? I thought you left with them, Vernon?” I asked.“I didn’t,” he said. “For sure they will hunt wild animals again and I prefer to wait for fresh blood.”From the race of vampires where I grew up, there are only a few of them who do not drink human blood and Trina is one of them. That’s one reason why I don’t want to go back to Volter.I can’t bear to see how they kill innocent pe
Marcus"How's the plan, Syrie? Did it work?" Trina and Vernon's questions were bombarding me when I got home.I went straight to the sofa and looked at them seriously. "It looks like the plan is working," she said, giving them confirmation. "But I don’t know how far this plan will go," I added."How come? How did you say that?" Vernon asked.I took a deep breath before I answered his question. "We all know that he's not just a werewolf and he's not that idiot that we can fool.""Then you should act normal," Trina suggests.Vernon nodded and agreed with Trina. "Besides, the way that wolf looks at you, it seems like he wants you, right?" She added with a hint of teasin
Kiss"HUH? SO, you did that, Syrie?" Vernon was shocked when he found out what had happened in my confrontation with Volter.I nodded. "I don't know why I believed Marcus in the first place.""But why do those werewolves want to kill you if they're already under the authority of Volter?" Trina asked.I looked seriously at Trina as well as Vernon. "What do you mean?""I’m just confused, Syrie." She paused for a moment. "If Marcus was lying, why did he kill those wolves from his race? Also, this is not the first time Volter's disciples have tried to kill you. If it wasn't Volter, maybe someone else was behind it," Trina explained, as she tried to connect the past incidents.I was speechless a
I'll Try"What are you doing here, Volter?" I was shocked when Volter suddenly appeared from nowhere."I'm just here to visit your place, Syrie. If you're comfortable here or maybe you want another place to live," he replied. I frown at him.Volter looked at every corner of the house. "I don't need a new place, Volter. I'm already comfortable living here." I objected to what he said.Volter shrugged. He said, "I respect you if that's what you want, but remember you're still welcome in the mansion when you change your mind," and sat down on the sofa with his arms leaned on.I sat close to him, staring at his serious face.I know that's not the only purp
THE NEXT morning, I got ready to go hunting in the forest. I can't remember when was the last time I hunted. I miss hunting wild animals and killing them. It's also one of the ways I practice and also it gives satisfaction to me."Where are you going, Syrie?" Trina asked when she came out of her room.I adjusted the leather jacket I was wearing. “In the forest, to go hunting,” I simply answered. “It’s also been a long time since I’ve been able to use my ability to catch wild animals,” I added."Are you with, Marcus?"I was silent for a moment and then shook my head. "No, I'll go by myself. I'm leaving, Trina," I told her.
I rudely entered the entrance of the mansion, many eyes were on me, some not happy to see me there. That is not new for me. Some were pushed back as I passed them and I saw the fear on their faces. They didn't scare me because any of them who do something I don’t like, I will hit them. When I got into that big house, I looked around and there were some vampires there and there were also wolves that had finally joined Volter. In some way, that would help Volter's plan to use the wolf race against its race.I feel excitement and longing when I feel again the embrace of this home, the memories I have formed with the family I recognize. The laughs and the joy that until now, are in my heart that only remind me of them whenever I miss them.Honestly, I miss this home, but I know it would be better for me to distance myself from Volter to avoid a misunderstanding."What a s
I SADLY looked at Yena that was quietly playing with a doll that I gave to her. I just saw that doll on my old stuff, so I decided to give it to her. I feel sorry for her because I know he misses her parents, just like I do. She’s been here two days and I know the feeling of being away from her parents even for just a short time."Look, Sister Syrie the doll is so sexy," Yena said happily to me.I smiled. "It's like you, isn't it? You're sexy and beautiful" I said to her."No, Sister Syrie, it looks like you. The sexy and the beautiful one."I fluttered at Yena's compliment to me. "Yena, do you have a brother or sister?" Maybe if those two werewolves I saw in the forest weren't the parents of Yena, they might have been her brother and sister. The child nodded while smiling. She's so cute. "My big sister's name is Rossa," she said. "She's just as sexy as you," he added happi
UNTIL I got home that night, I still couldn't fully wrap my head around everything I learned. It keeps messing with my mind while I don't know how to accept and believe that. I am now torn between two sides and I don't know which to believe, who is telling them the truth. I'm confused and still don't know what to do."Hey! I've been calling you for a while, Syrie why don't you seem like yourself?"I blinked because Vernon waved his palm in my face. His surprised face appeared at me."It's strange that you're dumbfounded, Syrie? We've been here for a while but you don't seem to see or feel anything at all?" Trina said with folded arms as she stood on the edge of the sofa. Then she also sat there.I tried to smile while looking at these two. I turned my back away from the sofa and my face became serious. I slightly avoided looking at them. "I-it's nothing, I just thought of something," I excused them. I don't know if it's the right time to tell them everything I found out."Is there a p
I WILL NOT allow myself to leave this village without knowing other things about my real parents. The darkness is spreading around and I also have to go back home because I know Persuz will ask again where I went if I don't go home.Yena and I also played for a long time because we longed for each other before Rossa came and took the child.Marcus hasn't come back since father Trigo called him, so I'll be the only one to go there to know everything about my parents’ past. I want to clear up before I leave because I might not be able to sleep if those things keep messing with my mind.Marcus and father Trigo were surprised when they saw me enter the room. They seem to be talking seriously."Syrie, what are you doing here?" Marcus greeted me. The momentary concern on his face did not escape my eyes, father Trigo is not like that.I stepped closer to them and sat in the empty seat opposite Marcus. "I want to know everything right now, Marcus. Everything about my parents," I said directly
I STILL CAN'T believe what I heard from those wolves. I try to understand and find the truth in them. Is all that true? But someone tells me to believe that because they are telling the truth but there is a part that reminds me of the vampires who sheltered me and the good they did for me.Maybe I was just surprised by what I found out. How did my real father Amaro become Trevor's brother? And then, how come they didn't tell me that. Why didn't they confess to me those things that I should know. They didn't even mention to me that Amaro is my father. It's all a mess and I don't know which one is true."Are you ok?"I heard Marcus' voice. He sat next to me on the veranda of the house where I also stayed before. I kept looking around where I could see the tall trees. I sighed. "Marcus, everything is a mess. I have so many questions in my mind that I can't get the answer to. I don't know what to think about what I found out," I confessed, then turned to look at him with confusion on my f
NOW that Trina and Vernon knew what I was doing and about Marcus, I had no trouble hiding from them. I'm only worried about Persuz because I know who his loyalty is and it's not mine. I don't even have to explain if I'm leaving and answer their question every time I come back."I want to go to the village but I can't, Marcus. I have to be careful with my every move," I said to him while we were on the edge of the stream. He wanted us to go to the village of the wolves because he said he had things to tell me but it was not possible because Volter had disciples there who might see me and tell Volter."Why not, Syrie?" he asked me in surprise.I looked at him seriously. "Marcus, you don't know who is a true friend or foe even if it's your kind and with you," I meaningfully reminded him who frowned even more."What do you mean, Syrie? That there is a traitor in the village?"I didn't answer right away. I don't know if I should talk about Colby or just let it go. "I don't know, Marcus, bu
THIS MORNING, the smile on my lips still hasn't disappeared because of what happened between Marcus and me last night. My heart is full of joy because of that and I don't want to let it go. I just want to savor it because there's a truth that I don't know how long I'll be able to feel it. I really only felt that with Marcus because maybe he was the only one capable of giving that to me."Oh! Your face looks happy, Syrie, huh?" Vernon greeted me when I got out of my room.I smiled at him. "I'm just feeling happy today, Vernon," I returned to him.I went straight to the living room and sat on the sofa there. Vernon followed me there. "Where is Trina?" I asked when I noticed that she wasn't there and only Vernon was there."Trina? I don't know where she is, she just left a while ago," he answered while his palms were intertwined and his arms rested on his knees."You? Don't you have an appointment? Haven't you been summoned to the mansion?" I asked him. In the past, they were often at th
UNTIL now I still can't get out of my mind what Trina said to me. I didn't even think about that or even suspect Marcus, that he might be one of those wolves with a moon carved on his right arm. Yes, I didn't immediately trust him but I never thought that he might be the one I was looking for. What if that's true? What if Marcus has a moon carved on his right arm? How can I deal with what can happen when I've fallen for him?I sighed as I hugged myself standing in front of the living room window where my eyes were looking at that big tree in front of me. It was dark around and the night breeze was slightly cold. I was the only one at home again because Trina and Vernon were in the jungle while Persuz was in the mansion. My mind has been working on what Trina said and I'm afraid to know what is true and what is not. I don't even know if I can accept when it turns out that Trina is right."Are you thinking about me again?"I blinked and was suddenly nervous when I saw Marcus at the bott
"I'M just curious, Syrie, why did you suddenly have an interest in who you are?"I was slightly surprised by Trina's question as I sat quietly on the sofa facing her. I looked at her seriously before answering. "I don't know either, Trina I suddenly feel there's something missing in me. I feel like I'm missing myself and I don't know what it is," I answered.Trina looked at me as if checking the reaction of my face. Then she blinked. "Ok. I understand, Syrie and I can't blame you if you feel that way. It's natural for you to feel the search for the person you never knew," Trina agreed. "But that won't be good if Volter finds out about you, searching for your personality," she continued with a look of frustration on her face. "Maybe he'll think you're betraying him.""I already know that possibility, Trina, so as much as possible I don't want to tell anyone about this matter.""Don't worry, Syrie, I'm on your back. You can also assure me that what you said is safe," she said smiling.I
I was seriously looking at that rushing stream while the strong wind was blowing. I'm still thinking about what Volter said to me. But even so, I still feel sad and regretful because we spent so much time together that only ended up with us doubting each other. Volter and I have changed so much since we had a misunderstanding. Since he felt jealous of me."You're thinking so deep, baby."I was slightly surprised and blinked when I felt Marcus hug me from behind, he even pressed his face to my neck which brought a tickle to me.I sighed. I don't know why I couldn't feel the fear that someone might see us there and find out what was going on between us. All I know is that I'm safe when I'm with Marcus."I just can't help but think about the things that have changed in my life, Marcus, the things that are happening around," I said calmly as he gently rubbed his arm around my waist"Are you thinking about me too, Syrie?" he said backI blinked at what he said. "Do I always have to think a
Even if I WANT to go to the village to see Marcus there, even Yena and Rossa, I can't because I know Volter has a spy there to identify who the wolves are with the carving moon on their right shoulder. They could find out that I was coming to the village and that would surely reach Volter and start to doubt me.I sat down on the sofa. The situation will be more complicated now because of the decision I made and I have to be more careful because it will have a big impact on me and the vampires."Oh, Syrie you don't have a walk today?"I looked up at Vernon who had just entered the house from I don't know where he came from. Since I came to the village, I don't even know what my housemates are up to."Where are you from, Vernon?" I asked him again. I don't have to answer his question."At the mansion, Uncle Freud spoke to me and said hello," he answered bluntly. He sat in front of me and watched my face. "Lately, I've noticed that you always seem to be thinking about something. There's
