Alexandra handed the knife over to Aurora, her friend, so that she could cut the cake. Aurora has been her friend since they were in high school but as they grew up,they stopped communicating frequently but that didn't stop the bond between them.
"Happy birthday, Rory," Alexandra said, taking a seat on the plush cushion beside Aurora. "Make a wish and blow out your candles, I want cake" Alexandra laughed out loudly as she watched Aurora blow out the last of her candle. Aurora wiped away the imaginary sweat from her forehead as he released an exaggerated sigh. "Is this a plan for you to kill me and eat all my cake?" Aurora said feigning exhaustion. " I almost lost my breath. Did you really have to put that many candles on the cake?" " Yeah duh! It's just 24 candles" Alexandra said, rolling her eyes. " Each for every year you've spent on earth, and I'm pretty sure that it's not that hard to put out a candle." Aurora rolled her eyes at Alexandra's words. Alexandra laughed at Aurora's expression. "Stop acting like that," She teased. "At least you didn't die, right?" Aurora flipped Alexandra off, cutting a slice from the cake. "Oh yeah, funny Alex," Aurora said, crossing her arms. "But honestly, I can't believe I'm twenty four already. I'm almost an old woman. Ahhh" Taking a slice for herself, Alexandra spoke. " Haha, come on… you're not old, wait till you're in your middle age" she said with a mouthful of cake. "Wait till you get to the over the hill stage before you start complaining about being old" Aurora pouted her lips, pretending to be deep in thought. " Yea, you're right,"she said. " At least I'm not living a miserable life with no love life " " Don't start that now Rory" Alexandra chuckled, taking another slice from her cake. " You know how hard I'm working right now, I'm still trying to pay off my student loan so I don't have time for love right now" Aurora put her hands in her chest in a hurt manner. " Don't say that girl, you have no time for love. No time for love?" She repeated. " Hate to be you then. Having someone who dots for you makes everything better and helps me get over each day. How do you survive?" Alexandra rolled her eyes in a playful manner. "It's really not a big deal and I'm very fine, thank you" She said with a smile playing on her lips. " By the way,if you think about it,love is overrated anyway" "Overrated" Aurora screamed. " My heart is bleeding from hearing such blasphemy" She said, clutching her heart as though she was injured. Alexandra bursted into a fit of laughter at Aurora's reaction. "Please stop, you're making me tear up," She said. "Let's be real, just because you have a loving relationship doesn't mean it will be the same for others. Love can be really messy sometimes. Take my parents relationship for an example" Aurora turned towards Alexandra, taking her hands in hers. "I get how you feel but don't let your parents life determine yours." She said in a serious voice. " You're really missing out on all the romance and butterflies" Alexandra grew up in a very toxic environment which affected her life growing up. Her parents always fought mostly about drugs and tried to control Alexandra's life in every aspect. She finally had the courage to move out when she turned nineteen after she learnt that her parents were trying to marry her off to an old man. "Enough about me, it's your birthday so let's talk about you" Alexandra said, changing the topic. "Any plans for it,the day is almost over already" She checked her phone and it was already twenty minutes after eight. At Alexandra's words, Aurora clapped excitedly like a little child at the sight of a delicious treat. "Yea!" She exclaimed. "I'm having a little birthday celebration. I had a friend get us tickets to a club where we are going to party" " I've always wanted to celebrate a birthday party in a club and this year is that year" she continued, her excitement growing as she talked. " My friend said that the club's name is The Raven's Den. He said that it's really upscale and exclusive and that he had to go through a hard time getting us a ticket" " That's so sweet of you but you shouldn't have gone through such trouble for me" Alexandra protested not wanting to go anywhere again. She has a book waiting in her e-library waiting to be read. Aurora laid on her belly, holding Alexandra's leg as she begged. "Nooo, please, please, pretty please, please come with me" She said at the top of her voice. "Fulfill this birthday wish of mine, I beg of you Alex" The longer Aurora begged, the more Alexandra's resistance faltered. She really didn't want to disappoint Aurora but she also didn't want to go anywhere but home to get to bed. She finally cracked accepting to come to her friend's party. "Stawp, okay fine, I'll come…" She said which made Aurora engulf her in a tight hug. "... only if you promise not to leave my side and spend the whole night by my side" " Yes ma'am, I promise to babysit you" Aurora exclaimed, faking a butler's bow. " I'll make sure that you don't leave my sight" Alexandra laughed at Aurora's word trying to catch her breath from the tight hug Aurora gave her. "I bought a dress for the both of us," Aurora said, her eyes twinkling with mischief. "It's a matching black and white swan dress" Alexandra's eyebrows shot up in surprise. " Wow, you really got me a dress?" She said in an amusing tone. " You must have planned this months ago" " Not months ago but weeks ago actually and yes I bought you a dress" Aurora replied, grinning from ear to ear. " I knew that you didn't have any party clothes so I took the liberty of getting you one just in case you use it as an excuse, which you didn't" " Aurora, what can I do with you?"Luca and Marcus sat in the elevated area of the V.I.P section of the club, looking down at the people partying below. The voluptuous glow of the light casted shadows on their faces as they sipped from their drinks. The music pulsed through their veins as they enjoyed the view. The go-go dancers moved their bodies seductively to the slow rhythm of the music trying to get the attention of the occupant of the V.I.P. The private part of the club has a private show where they're entertained by private dancers.Luca and Marcus watched with an air of detachedness. They have come to the club plenty of times and have seen this multiple times that they have become bored of it. The dancers continued dancing, moving closer but not too close to them.Luca leaned back in his seat, swirling the amber liquid in his glass as he checked his phone.Marcus gestured at one of the dancers to come closer. She had a tall, slender physique which was Marcus's speck in ladies. She had a hungry look in her eyes
Alexandra walked closely behind Aurora as they stepped into the club not wanting to lose sight of her. The interior view overwhelmed her and she almost had a sensory overload from all the things she was feeling at that moment. The music was very loud and the beats thumped hard making her skin vibrate. The dim flashing light casted dark shadows on the faces of the people dancing in the club. This was her first time entering inside a club before. She had always seen one from afar and it had been on her highschool bucket list to go to a club. She felt her inner child squeal from delight that she had finally crossed that off.Micheal excused himself and made his way into the club getting lost in the swarm of people. Aurora held Alexandra's hand as she led her towards the crowd to the bar. "Two glasses of fruity fizz please" Aurora said to the bartender as she settled into her seat. Alexandra looked around enjoying the view around her.Leaning towards Aurora, she said loudly, "I'm glad you
Luca felt his phone vibrate in his pocket indicating a call. He pulled it from his pocket and checked the caller ID, seeing that it's from Marcus, his expression turned serious. Marcus hardly calls unless it's an emergency. "Excuse me, I'll be right back" He said to Alexandra as he walked to a more quiet part of the club."What's wrong?" He said as soon as he answered the call. "We need to head out now, just received word from our spy that Elias sent his men to the club for an ambush" Marcus's tense voice said through the speaker. Before Luca could say a word, a sudden round of gunshots fired into the air causing havoc and chaos in the club. The people in the club ran in different directions trying to protect themselves, shoving over weak people and trampling on them.Luca forced himself through the crowd of panicked people, his eyes focused on looking for Alexandra. He held the butt of his gun in his hand, aiming it to shoot at a rival that was on the top floor. He went upstairs to
TRIGGER WARNING!!!The unrestrained screams of pain echoed in the air disturbing the calmness of the night. The creaking of the crickets were overshadowed by the screams. A man strapped to a chair kept on screaming as the other people in the room pretended like there wasn't a man screaming from pain. A needle was inserted in his neck as a yellowish liquid flowed into his bloodstream. He fought against his restraint trying to get the needle off him. The more the liquid was injected in him,the more pain intensified. His muscles clenched as they were affected by the drug flowing into his system. His body felt like hot lava was being injected into it. His heartbeat increased and decreased as it strained painfully in his ribcage.Luca walked into the room, his eyes taking in the scene before him. Noticing his presence, the men stood on guard, nodding in greetings before they went on to what they were doing.Luca made his way closer to the injured man, Marcus following behind him. He observed
The early morning sunlight streaming through the tiny gap from the curtain shone on Alexandra's face, stirring her awake. The deep musky scent on the pillow invaded her nostrils making her snuggle closer into it mummering incoherently in her sleep. She held the pillow closer, inhaling the scent in an unladylike manner. She snapped her eyes open when she heard the soft creak of the door indicating that it was being opened. She stood up quickly making her head feel dizzy. The blanket fell off her body, tangling her leg and making her fall off the bed, landing face flat on the floor. Her skin flushed as a wave of embarrassment washed over her.She let out a meek squeak as her body laid on the floor in an ungraceful manner. She pressed her face on the cold hard surface of the tiled floor trying to calm her aching head. After laying on the floor for a moment, she finally pushed herself up trying to steady herself as she was still in her heels from last night. Her eyes moved to the door to s
"You have nothing to worry about, your friend is fine" he assured her, watching as her shoulders relaxed at his words. He released a deep chuckle before he added, "Now the table is turned. You're at my house this time" Alexandra raised her head to look at him before saying, " I guess we are even now" She said in a soft voice. " I really think it's time for me to go"" Sure, I understand," Luca replied with a nod. " But we'll have to get you something presentable to wear before heading home. How about we go buy some clothes and then you go"Alexandra immediately shook her head in protest. " That's very generous of you but I…" Luca held up a hand stopping her mid sentence. "I'm not taking no for an answer" He said in a firm tone as he stared at her. "Just a dress, this one you're wearing right now looks like it was made in the late 1800s" Alexandra's face heated up at his words. She knew that the clothes were too big on her but he didn't have to point it out like that. Swallowing the
Alexandra got closer to her apartment with a huge grin playing on her lips. She half skipped and half walked to her apartment, her face bright with excitement. Her smile dropped when she noticed a figure crouched in front of her door.As though noticing her presence, the person looked towards Alexandra's direction, revealing a family face. "Aurora!" Alexandra's voice echoed in the hallway as she saw her friend. She had forgotten the main reason she was worried at first and suddenly she felt like a bad friend for forgetting her friend.Aurora quickly stood up as she rushed towards Alexandra before enveloping her in a very tight hug.Aurora hugged her tightly, not letting go as tears formed in her eyes. "Thank Goodness that you're safe," she breathed out in a shaky voice. "I was so worried when I couldn't find you in the club. I thought… I thought something bad had happened to you."Alexandra patted Aurora's back feeling bad that she had caused her friend so much worry. " I tried to look
Adele's lips pulled up in a wide smile at his words. "I don't care what you call it, it's a date to me," She said in a confident tone, her eyes admiring the beauty before it. "I'm just glad that you thought that it's a good idea for us to bond before we finally get married" Luca signaled for a waiter to get another bottle of wine. When the waiter returned with the bottle and poured a glass for him he finally spoke. " That's why I called you here. You have to tell your father that you're no longer interested in this marriage"Her eyes hardened as she glared at Luca, her face devoid of any emotion as she responded, " I'm not going to do that"Luca's cool gaze was fixed on her face with indifference as he spoke in a steady voice. "You weren't given an option," He said in an unwavering tone." I'm not calling off this marriage Luca, you'll get married to me and that's final" Adele retorted, not shrinking under his intimidating eyes."I really don't want to make a big deal from this so you
