Chapter Twenty-seven

Emily took a seat at the large, imposing table in the boardroom. The board members, a mix of severe and indifferent looks, studied her intently. Principal Andrews was there, along with numerous parents and instructors who had filed complaints.

Mr. Richards, the board's chairman, cleared his throat. "Thank you, Ms. Carter, for attending. We believe you have collected evidence to address the issues made concerning your performance."

Emily nodded, attempting to calm her anxiety. "Yes, I did. I'd want to begin by directly addressing the criticisms and providing testimonials from parents and coworkers who support my work."

Mr. Richards beckoned for her to continue. Emily opened her packet and handed out copies of the testimonies to the board members. She started by responding to each complaint personally, offering context and opposing proof of her positive influence on kids.
