Chapter Six

Emily's heart was still beating hard as she and Will walked away from his car, her head swirling with ideas and feelings. Jason's surprise entrance yesterday had made her feel vulnerable and shocked. But today, as they made their way to a neighbouring coffee shop, she found herself focused on Will's constant presence alongside her.

The coffee shop was warm and personal, with soft lighting and the soothing fragrance of freshly made coffee. They found a secluded area away from prying eyes and the commotion of other customers. Emily slipped into her chair, thankful for a break from the day's turmoil.

Will got their drinks—a cappuccino for Emily and a black coffee for himself—and they relaxed back, the tension from earlier gradually fading.

"Thanks for coming with me," Emily remarked, breaking the stillness. "I needed a break from everything."

Will grinned, his eyes warming. "Anytime, Emily. I also needed a diversion from the office."
