44. Drunkards & Liars

last update Last Updated: 2024-12-30 13:23:30

"Alright, I'm ready, so were do we go first?" Alex said, straightening his jacket and waiting for an answer from me. Julia and I turned too look at Alex, both of us discussing just about him when he walked in.

I had been telling Julia about Alex's life, how he was disowned as a baby by his own parents and how miserable a death he had.

How much his life had been like mine.

Julia had heard me uptil the end, not interfering in the mddle like she usually did, just some small questions if she didn't understand somethings.

Once I was done, Julia frowned, saying our lives were quite the same, but something felt off to her, that the story seemed made up.

I felt like to kick her in the gut if Alex wouldn't have shown up right that moment.

I mean, made up? What part felt like made up to her? Just because his whole life was tragic? My life had been tragic as well, does that mean I made it all up? Deity's never understand humans like they pretend to do.

Julia smiled at Alex as he entered, pretending like she didn't just say he made up his life. I wanted to roll my eyes at her, but instead looked Alex up to down.

He was dressed in Denim from head to toe, lord only knows why. He looked just like an idol, too much that he would stand out if I went anywhere with him. I pursed my lips, holding back from snarling.

We had to leave in a while to look around. Alex's first day to help me search for signs of Guardians and look at this weirdo, prepared as if he was going on a date.

Jees.

"Why Alex, you look dashing!" Julia said, wiggling her eyebrows and giggling like a teenager.

Seriously? At first Jason and now Alex? Doesn't she realize that she sucks at flirting? How much I wanted to roll my eyes right now.

Lord help me here.

"Change." I said, not bothering to look at Alex's face as I said it, only sipping my tea.

"Beg your pardon?"

"I said change."

Alex looked at himself before turning to me.

"Change my clothes? And why would I do that?"

I looked back at Alex with daggers shooting from my eyes, trying my best not to make it look like I was glaring.

"We are going out to look for Guardians, not partying. Do you want to be noticed by people when you are not supposed to exist? What happens if someone takes secret pictures of you and posts them on social media, only to realize that you are not even real? Can you a assess the damage that will be caused after that?" I said darkly, knowing all too well what the consequences will be.

"We could just stay invisible."

"And scare away Guardians if we find any? Like I did to you?"

Alex rolled his eyes, that sassy attitude resurfacing. Julia all the while looked from me to Alex, wondering why I was getting so worked up.

Even I had no idea why.

True, Alex dressing made him look like a fasion model, which would catch every teenagers eye. And I couldn't let that happen...you already know why.

But deep down, there was another reason I didn't want Alex to dress up like that, no matter how embarrassing it may sound, I wasnt ready to really speak it out loud.

The reason was quite selfish, but of course I didn't say it out loud.

I didn't want to look like a grim dead soul while walking around the streets with a colourful Alex by my side. And I also didn't want to go back and change into some better colours other than black, for it might have made me look like I was searching for attention- not that I was, but anyways...

So I made Alex do the changing...selfish...I know.

Alex didn't say anything after rolling his eyes, just quietly poofed out of the room to the third floor. Once he was gone, Julia turned to me.

"Was that really neccesary?"

"It was, or you might have had a truck load of work to mend the timeline. I'm sure you wouldn't want that." I replied, turning back to my cup of tea.

Julia nodded, but didn't drop the subject. "True, I wouldn't want it. Neither did you. But is that the only reason? Or is it something to do with a wardrobe full of dull black cloths?"

My cheeks turned a crimson shade, but I didn't dare look at Julia nor show any hint of reaction. But I didn't need to. Julia was already smirking like a she Devil.

"Hmm. I thought so."

Thankfully, Alex showed up just in time, saving my ass from embarrassment. He was now dressed in normal blue jeans and a grey shirt. I sighed in relief before standing up and motioning Sehul to follow, but the bastard had something else in his mind.

"Cilia do you only wear black?"

How the fuck did he know that?

I turned around so fast, I would have sprained my neck. Julia's eyes grew wide in amusement before she broke out in wild laughter. From nowhere Jason had shown up, now listening in on the conversation.

Humiliation actually.

All the while, Alex frowned, his eyebrows pulled together as if thinking deeply, but I knew he was pretending.

"I mean, I went to your room-"

"YOU WENT TO MY ROOM?!"

"...and checked your walk in closet-"

"YOU CHECKED MY FUCKING CLOSET?!"

"...and I found...nothing! Absolutly nothing but darkness. Do you always drape darkness around you?"

Alex asked innocently, but I could see the smirk building in his face after my outburst. Julia's laugh continued, were as Jason muttered thoughtfully under his breath, "What's so wrong with dark cloths?" And I didn't know if I should roll my eyes at him or bite my own tongue and kill myself.

I did neither of that. Instead, I silently walked out of the room, wondering the same thing what Jason had muttered, but not before throwing a ball of snow into Julia's mouth which landed right inside her mouth, taking her off guard as the sudden coldness wafted inside her mouth which she couldn't even shut nor open wider.

And Alex ? Well let's just say I froze the guys hairs, making him scream out in pain because of brain freeze as every signle strand were captured in the icy grasp.

Jason just watched, before bursting out in laughter that almost choked him to his second death.

---------

"Look what you did to my hairs now!! Look!! It's freaking white!"

"I think silver will be the right color to describe it."

"You fucking changed my hair color!"

"Didn't know I had hair dyeing abilities."

"Shut up!"

"You are the one screaming boy."

"And you are the one with a dull wardrobe!"

"Maybe I should freeze your eyebrows too. Silver eyebrows will look just fantastic in you!"

"Don't you dare!"

"You dared getting into my room without my permission you dimwit, serves you right."

"You entered my room too!"

"That's my house!"

"That's my fucking room!"

"Hush now! We came here for an important matter. Let me concentrate in finding if you don't want to. You are free to go." I said angrily, not even sure why I was getting so worked up.

The moment I stepped out of the barrier that protects the mansion from mortal eyes, Alex had finally joined me, somehow finding a way to get out of my magic. Although, the impact of the ice had left his hairs a whitish blond, more like silver, and he won't shut his mouth about it.

His purple hairs were gone, I guess that's why he was so mad. But I wasn't going to have any of his rantings now, at least not anymore. Alex looked like he wanted to say something, but I beat him to it.

"Ah! There it is. Our first stop. Come on. Let's go." So saying, I started walking forward, not bothering to look if Alex was following or not, for I knew he would.

We entered a cafe, which, to be honest, wasn't actually a cafe, but people just simply called it one, for they had no other name for it. Well the reason is quite complicated.

It just so happens that the owner especially started this business by selling booze and other liquor, but in time, started selling other stuffs like tea, coffee, etc. Not a big deal right? I mean, who doesn't sell such things these days?

It's just that the only problem was, the owner was a single mother.

"What are we doing in a pub?" Leave it to Alex to call the cafe a pub. I mentally rolled my eyes.

Walking forward, I sat at a table beside another, which was occupied by three drunk looking men. Quietly Alex joined me.

"Are you gonna answer me or what?"

"Watch." Was all I said. And watch he did.

A while later, the girl who owned the cafe walked up to us, ready to take our orders. She stood with a smile, her back turned to the group of drunk men. I glanced at the men, watching as they eyed her back from head to toe.

"Welcome here! It's pleasure to have you both! What would you like to order?" The girl said with a sweet voice, but I could sense the displeasure in her voice as she tried to keep up with the sweet act. All the while, the drunken men stared at her.

That was the problem with this cafe. It was like a restaurent, where waiters take orders instead of customers just ordering in the counter. And since there weren't any waiters but just the lady herself, it was much worse.

I stared at the lady for a while before saying, "Two Americanos please."

"Two Americanos on there way!" She said before quickly darting away from our table as if scared of something.

All the while, Alex just stared, not at all sure what was going on. "Okay? I'm sure you didn't ask me to watch her taking our orders did you?"

Silly Alex.

"No, I wanted you to watch her ass, how it moves when she walks."

"What the fuck Cilia?! Why would you say that?"

"It's every single man's desire in this room right now."

"NOT MINE! She looks like she will be my nanny! I wouldn't ever- wait what? What do you mean, every man's desire?" Alex asked again, finally trying to understand the situation in hand.

I sigh before replying. "She's not just your nanny, but also a single mom. Over there, look, there's a baby carriage in the corner. Her baby is tugged inside, sleeping."

Alex followed my command, looking at the direction, his eyes slowly growing wide. I continued.

"The lady runs this shop as a means to earn a living for her baby, but young as she is, the prying and hungry eyes of men don't make her job any easier."

Alex looked around, now realizing what I meant when I said him to watch. Every single men was looking towards the direction the girl just went. Some who came as couples didn't give a shit, but others, like the three drunkard beside me, were literally drooling.

"Where's her husband? Why is he allowing her to do such things?"

"You know why."

"How am I supposed to know? Why is her hus- Oh no..." Alex trailed off, myself slowly nodding.

"That's right. The child has no father. He's not dead, don't worry, nor did he have an affair with the mom or anything. The child was born from rape."

I let Alex take in my words before continuing again. "She was nineteen when the incident happened. Her family disowned her because she wouldn't abort the child of her culprit, rather raise it. It's been two years ever since, but the story still sticks on, making the girl an easy target for drunken men like them." I said, pointing at the three men.

"They think she's nothing more than a used tissue in this world, so they might as well have their fun with her."

Alex gasped, looking from the men to the girl who was delivering at another table. "Why did she just not throw the child away? It was never meant to be born anyway, her life wouldn't be the same after the rape, but at least she wouldn't have this burden right?" Alex said and like a fool, I agreed with him.

I didn't think there was anything wrong in what he said. Mothers abandon their child all the time, even if they are not by rape. Why would this girl keep this horrid child?

"How do you know all this?" Alex suddenly asked, bringing me back to reality.

'I'm a Guardian, my job is to find people in despair.'

"So you researched on this lady, or you just crossed paths?"

"Jason and Julia do the digging, considering that a Deity's job is to look after mortals. I do the action work, sometimes accomanied by either Jason or Julia. This time it's you."

"Why me?"

"Remember I told you yesterday that you need to pay back for living a lavish life as an immortal?"

"Yeah? Is this it? Helping mortals?"

"Hmm. Helping mortals that are in need of miracles. Now hush, the girl is coming."

Alex fell silent after that, but not before muttering, "I never had a Guardian to grant me with a miracle..." catching me off guard. That was exactly the same thing I said when I started this!

Just how similar were Sehul and I?

"Here you go, two Americanos." The girl said, placing it on the table.

"Thank you." I said before taking one, Alex following me. As the girl tried to walk away, one of the drunken man finally seized his chance, before bringing his left foot front causing the girl to trip and land her ass straight in the drunken man's lap.

There it goes.

"Oh my god! I'm so sorry! I'm so-" The girl tried saying, but was cut off by the man who held her.

"There now missus, are you trying to seduce me? In broad day light?" The girl tried getting off, but the wuss held her firmly on his lap. I could see the discomfort in her face, the fear in her heart as it beat rapidly.

"No sir...please sir...please let me go...I-"

"Oho! Trying to get away now are we? Not interested to have another bastard in that baby trolly of yours?"

Alex's Americano had started to float upwards, his grip on the cup so tight it might break. I push the liquid back down. This drunk lunatic had the nerve.

"Wh...what are...talking about? Let...go of m-" The girl squirmed, trying to get away, but stopped when the man started running his hands down her spine. I could literally feel the chills she was feeling.

No one interfered. No one ever did. Every one watched as the girl who just served them their drink was now getting harassed, but they didn't give two shits about it. A part of them thought she deserved it.

"I'm pretty sure you didn't come here to just watch as the girl gets assaulted, considering you are a Guardian and all, so can we please interfere?" Alex asked out of the blue, his fingertips turning white due to how tight he was holding the cup. I didn't know why this whole scenario bothered him so much, but I still just replied, "Not yet."

"Oho...now I'm in trouble. Coming and sitting on my lap...people will think I'm the bad guy here. Who knows...what this whole cafe of yours is....whether you are only selling booze...or something else..."

That did it. Without a warning, the drunk man's cup of hot coffee spilled out, splashing all across the man's face as he screamed in fury, dropping the girl and making her land on her butt.

"FUCK!! The fuck did you do you slut?! How dare you! You whore!" The man screamed before grabbing the girl by her collar, there faces inches apart now.

The girl was terrified out of her wits, not just because of the drunk man who was now sober, but because she had no idea herself how this happened. The other two men stood up as well, looking down on the girl.

"You did it, didn't you?! Tell me you bitch! It was y-"

"It was I." I said, not bothering to look at anyone as I casually sipped my drink. All eyes were on me now, wondering what I meant. I finally turned towards them before repeating the same thing. "It was I. I threw coffee in your face. You seemed like you needed it."

The man looked flabbergasted, the girl...I don't know. "Wh-what do you mean you threw? You are over there....how would you throw? Are you trying to save this bitch? Are you two related?"

I slammed the cup down looking up at the ceiling and shutting my eyes. "I know right? How did I throw the coffee in your face, when I'm so far away? Couldn't be possible by a human could it? Unless I'm not a human..."

Alex looked at me as if I had gone crazy, but I paid him no mind. The men looked as confused as before, but before they could register what I meant, the two other men went flying across the room, pinned to each of the furthest edges of the room, almost in the ceiling.

The other looked around in horror, before he too flew backwards before getting pinned to the wall behind him. I, only sipped my drink in peace.

The customers screamed, scared out of their lives at the sight before them. They rush for the door, trying to escape this horror.

But as they come in contact with the door handle, nothing happened. The door remained firmly in place as if it was broken. I turned to look at Alex, whose eyes were a deep violet but his face calm as if he had done things like this before.

"We can't let them go. They will tell everyone."

"I know." Is all I replied before standing up and facing the man stuck to the wall. The customers stopped moving, watching in anticipation as the man wimpered slightly but tried to keep his face stoic and fearless.

Needless to say, he failed badly.

"You know, humans...they are such unobservant things. They live their life as if the world only revolves around them, human's. As if no other life matters in this world. And sometimes, human's go that over board, that they even turn on their own kind sometimes. Trust me, I speak from experience." I said, loud enough for the whole room to hear. They all needed to hear it.

The man squirmed as if trying to get away but failed miserably...of course. "You shaman!! You she Devil!! You dare do this to a man!! Do you know who I am? What I can do- OUCH!"

"I don't think you are in a position to threaten me, not when you are hanging from the ceiling without anything holding. You see, I can do terrible things to you, far worse than what I'm doing right now."

My words were laced with as much as venom as my eyes turned the most brightest blue, wisps of fog appearing in my hands as the man's body slowly started freezing starting from his legs.

The man's screams echoed through the walls, the customers whimpered, the girl cowered as she clutched her baby in her arms, and Alex looked emotionless, although I could feel his inner battle.

All the while, my mind said only one thing.

This wasn't enough. The man needed more.

This wasn't his first assault, he had done worst and he deserved worst. And I will let him see all he had done as he suffers its consequences.

"Watch. Watch with your own eyes what miserable life you left so many people with because of your disgusting lust that you let take control over you. Watch. You two as well."

More screams erupted as the three men slowly felt the oxygen leaving their lungs, my eyes a dark green shade now as I sucked the oxygen out of them. There screamings only increased their pain, leaving them with more little oxygen. Slowly, their eyes grew wide as the scenes unfolded before their eyes, of all the times they abused other fragile women.

I stared at the men, trying my best not to see all the dirty things they had done, although I will never show that in public, how much I hated all of this. All of what I was doing.

Tears started steaming down the men's eyes, but not tears of water. Blood. The lack of oxygen and disgust at themselves was making them cry blood. The girl covered her baby's eyes, who was now wide awake.

Seriously, why does she love this baby so much?

"Pl-please...I...I'm s-sorry. For-forgive me...please." The man begged all of a sudden, followed by the other two.

"You do know you don't deserve it right? And I also don't wish to give it." I said calmly, sending the men wailing and begging for forgiveness.

"Pl-pleasseeee....I really am sorryyyyy... I kn-know I don't de-deserve it...But I pr-promise to change. I will never d-do something like this...again." The man dropped to the floor, no longer suspended in air. The first man crawled up to my legs, rubbing his palms together in a form of pleading. I sighed, looking up at the ceiling.

"I can't grant you mercy, becauae it's not my job to. You don't get mercy just because you want it. You earn it. And right now, you haven't earned it yet. I guess I should kill you guys." I lifted my hands as the men started crying wildly, desperate to live.

Just then, a hand tugged at my jeans, making me look down, only to find the girl. Her eyes were wide with tears but yet she looked calm despite that. She didn't say anything, but just shook her head.

I stared at her for so long, I have no idea when it stopped. I read her thoughts, searched for her intentions, until I finally made my decision.

I turned to the men, lowering my hand down.

"Looks like fate decided to spare you all another chance, so use it well." I looked down at the man before me, slowly his face showing some signs of relief as the realization hit.

"Thank you....thank you so much!! You are an ang-"

"I'm not that one you should be thanking. The one to be thanked is the very victim you planned on harrassing. That's how it is for you humans." I cut the man before he could finish his ridiculous sentence, holding myself from rolling my eyes.

The man looked at the girl, who just stared at her baby, hugging it to her bosom as tears glittered in her eyes.

"Sometimes, mercy is often hidden in the victims you harrass. That's why you need to earn it." I qouted, remembering the dialogue in The Goblin, feeling a little cheeky about it.

Everything happened in a blur after that. The men were thought their lesson in life, but the reason why we actually came there was still left out. A miracle.

I closed my eyes and the next time I opened, they were purple. I looked at the three men before whispering to myself, "Forget everything. You will keep your promise, but you will know nothing about this girl. She was never raped. Forget it."

The men blinked, as if waking up from a dream, before standing on their feet and back to their table.  They were done.

Next I turned to the customers, but it seemed like they were already done, blinking before taking their seats.

I turned to stare at Alex, whose eyes were a shade of violet before returning back to their normal purple. Finding me staring, he shrugged.

I guess I just have to take care of the country now, then we are done.

---------

"Wait...excuse me! Wait!" The girl called out to me and Alex as the two of us exited the cafe. Turning, we found the girl running up to us before she finally stopped, panting for breath.

"I...I wanted to...Thank you, for what you did." Said the girl, her baby in her arms.

My eyes grew wide before I turned to Alex, glaring at him as if to say, 'I thought you wiped her memories?' Alex turned away, trying to save his eaten pride.

"You are welcome." I replied curtly before getting to my work of erasing her memories. Just then, the girl spoke up again.

"What...what are you both? Something tells me you are not Shaman's or Exorcists, then what are you? You said that man that you were inhuman..."

"You don't have to concern yourself with anything that has happened. Those men will never hurt you again, nor will anyone else. No one will remember what happened to you, or how you got that child, not even the culprit. Everyone will just think that the father is either dead or at work. So you are free of the burden." I cleared it out. The girl nodded, but stopped mid way as Alex muttered something under his breath.

"Except for the burden of your child, of course."

I stilled, trying my best to keep a straight face and not punch Alex right there and then. I mean, I know we both find it crazy on behalf of the girl but, did he have to ask?

"Relax, you were curious about it too." Alex mind linked with me, not having the balls to say it out loud.

I turned towards the girl, watching her as she gazed at her baby with what felt like love and devotion in her eyes. I was starting to think she might have had some affair with the culprit.

Shame on me for thinking such shits.

"He's not a burden." She suddenly said, catching both of our attention. "He's, but my child."

"But you didn't want him right? You didn't plan to have him. You just...you just had a very bad luck and ended up getting pregnant, and then you had a chance to fix things and return back to your family. But you decided to doom yourself by concieving this baby, who was not even meant to be born. Why-"

"Why I brought him in this world?" The girl completed,  finally looking at Alex, but she didnt look angry at his shitty question, invading her privacy. It seemed like she had been hoping for at least one person to ask her her reasons behind the decisions she made, instead of judging her without knowing anything.

"Why shouldn't I bring this child to the world?" She asked back, but Alex knew better than to answer. He knew she wasn't actually looking for an answer. "Whatever happened in my life, that bad luck that man gave to me, it has nothing to do with this child. He has no idea how he is coming to this world, he's just an innocent child! You really don't think its the baby's fault I had been suffering this whole time, do you?"

We didnt answer. We couldn't. I felt ashamed at myself for being so dumb. Illegitimate....a bastard...or a true bone, it was still her child, wasn't it?

"True, I had suffered a great deal because of his father, but it isn't his fault, it never is.  If there's anyone who needs to be blamed for my sufferrings,  it's the people that turned their back on me. Not my boy, no."

I didn't say anything. I couldn't form any words because just then, I felt the slightest tug from something. Like something was tugging at my soul, calling me.

The same way when I rescued the pregnant lady from her abusive husband. The baby named Zara. But just as soon as the tug came, it was gone, as if searching for someone else.

Alex.

When I turned towards him, his eyes were as wide as baseballs, breath caught in his throat. I knew that look, I knew that feeling as well. He was having a vision. Of the baby.

"Zain is his name, correct?" Alex suddenly asked the girl whose eyes had grown wide but she nodded none the less. Alex continued.

"You made the right decision, I must say, by raising him. You will have to continue raising him if you want your life to change, or if you want a better life for him. He will save you from this misery. He will be your light out of this darkness."

Alex's last choice of sentences had my breath hitched, remembering the same thing I had said to Zara's mother. Just why were we having visions of the future of these baby's we never met? What kind of game was fate playing with us? By entertwining our lifes and making us cross paths?

Just were was this going to take us?

The girl just smiled with gratitude before bowing to us. That was our queue. By the time she raised her head, we were already out of her sight, her memories a void emptiness as she wondered why on earth was she bowing with her baby in her arms.

Only one thing was clear to her, she had a new found love and devotion towards her baby boy Zain.

-----------

We walked in silence as the street of New York passed by us. None of us said a word, absorbed in our own world of thoughts. I knew that we were both thinking the same thing. The single mother.

"She really loves her boy, doesn't she?" Alex suddenly asked, pulling me back from my reverie. "Indeed."

Alex sighed before looking up at the sky, his face peaceful, but his words quite distant. "And here I thought all a parent can do is abandon a child if they don't want it."

I looked at Alex but turned my gaze away quickly as he looked at me. He knew I was wondering the same thing. Indeed I was.

The fact that my mother never even thought of me as her child just made me so sour in the heart that I had started believing that every mother's were like that. And I'm sure Alex felt the same way.

It was quite scary, how much my life and that of Alex's was similar, and how much we clicked in. The fact that we were both unwanted by our parents was just...unnerving.

"Parents don't just abandon. They also kill."

"Beg your pardon?"

I stopped in mid track, completely taken aback by my own comment. I looked at Alex whose eyebrows were knitted together in suspision. Before I can correct myself, a faint tune is heard, alerting me.

I whipped my head towards the direction so fast, I'm pretty sure I looked like an alert chicken. But that didn't stop me from concentrating. I listened harder, getting the feeling that I had heard this melody before.

"Cilia! Wait!" I heard Alex scream as I dashed towards the direction in inhuman speed. The sound felt so familiar. Like the tube from a flute and...and burning wo-

"Cilia stop!" Alex ordered, bringing me to an abrupt halt. But the tune was getting stronger until I realized where I was.

I was just in front of a billboard.

"Wow.." I muttered, looking up at the huge billboard of the famous girl group Fiction. They were my favourite girl group. Every time I saw them, I was in awe.

"Why the fuck would you run away like that?! Couldn't you atle-" Alex stopped in mid sentence, watching the billboard along with me. It was a picture of there Nike add, the four of them dressed in Nike outfits. I smiled at the picture, despite myself.

"They are gorgeous, aren't they? They are my most favourite girl group. I just love them! They are just so dope! Don't you agree?" I asked, turning to look at Alex. But my smile faded instantly at the look on his face. "Alex, are you okay?"

Alex's face had gone completely ashen but then replaced with burning rage and fury. His hands trembled as he looked away from the picture, finally meeting my eyes. I couldn't help but flich a little at his intense gaze. Or should I say, glare?

"You are a fan?" Alex suddenly asked, more like hissed, making me shudder and look at him from head to toe just to make sure it really was Alex talking. He didn't sound like himself anymore.

"Yeah. Why?" I asked, suddenly bracing myself with my powers on standby. Something was very wrong, but I could not put my finger in it.

Is Alex one of those netizens that think an Heathens fans cannot be Fictions fan because of the competitive popularity and vice versa? Oh wait stop, he doesn't know I'm a Heathens fan,  so does that mean...he thinks I am Fictions guardian? Is he angry over that?

As much as I would wish to be so, I'm not, so I better explain it to him.

"Alex, whatever you are thinking, it's no-"

"BACK OFF!" Alex suddenly screamed, taking me off guard as he pushed me away when I tried approaching him. What the hell is wrong with this guy?

"You knew all along didn't you? That's why you came to me..."

"Alex... what are you talk-"

"I should have known...this whole mission thing of yours...you are a monster..."

"Steady Alex... you are making no sense. You need to listen to m-"

"DON'T YOU DARE HURT THEM!"

"ALEX ENOUGH!"

"I shouldn't have waited with my plan...I should have...should have..."

"Alez?"

"...should have finished them off right there and then..."

"Alex what are you talking abo- ALEX! ALEX NO!"

But Alex was already flying away, so fast that he was gone in a second.  All the while, I just screamed his name, knowing all too well that he couldn't hear me anymore.

Seriously...what the fuck...in the name of dear Lucifer who is still chasing me...just happened? Why the fuck did Alex over react like that? What did he mean by finishing them off? Who was he talking about? He surely didn't mean...

My phone bussed, making me jump out of my skin as I fished it out. I had completely forgotten I had a phone with me. Looking at the caller, I sighed as Jiuli's name poppped up.

"Cilia?"

"Hey Julia can you call back later? Now is really not the correct time-"

"You need to come home now."

"Didn't you hear what I said? I'm in the middle of someth-"

"We messed up big time Cilia! YOU messed up big time!"

Silence.

"What do you mean?"

"We were wrong about Alex, Cilia. You were wrong. He blinded you. He had lied to you this whole time. He is not what he said he was."

"Julia?...I'll ask you one more time...What. Do. You. Mean?"

A long silence followed after that, the only noise being that of my drumming heart beat and panicked breaths. What did she mean I messed up big time?

Julia sighed on the other end of the line as if exhausted. I could almost see her rubbing her temples. Just what have I done to mess up this bad?

At last, her words came, making me thunder struck.
