Caraline could only stand on the veranda with her mouth agape. The dress she was wearing was left splashing in the rain. When her eyes momentarily closed, she took a few steps back. Even so, the shock still refused to leave.

Caraline let out a long breath. Her gaze was fixed on the falling rain. Several lightning bolts could be seen, accompanied by the deafening sound of thunder.

"What the hell is going on!" said Caraline, her voice rising at the end of her sentence. She eyed her wet appearance in the front. How annoying. Why did the rain come at a time she had been waiting for so long?

Caraline clucked in annoyance. Her jaw tightened as her hands clenched into tight fists. The image of her being with Deric was instantly shattered by the rain, even though she had been waiting for this night for several days. There was also no way she could brave the rain to get to the promised place.
