Chapter 32

The sound of birds chirping could be heard as the morning sunlight illuminated the room, making it bright. Alice’s eyes fluttered open, only to be closed short quickly when the sunlight invaded her eyes.

After yawning, she opened her eyes again and shielded them from the light with her hands. The next second, she turned to the side of the bed to find it empty.

She discovered she was in the room alone.. Devon wasn’t beside her. she got up quickly when she realized this. Her nervous eyes scrutinized the entire room quickly as she got up, ready to leave. But she stopped in her tracks when she heard the sound of running water from the bathroom. This made her let out a sigh of relief.

Devon took a quick shower. He was uncomfortable leaving Alice in the room all by herself; he didn’t want her to start panicking when she woke up, so after his shower, he came out of the bathroom with just a towel tied around his waist to check on her.
