Chapter 31

Gladys stood in the kitchen with Joan in front of her. She sighed exasperatedly and then handed a tray to her.

“I don’t know why I’m doing this. Just drop the tray and come right back down, okay,” the woman said, and Joan nodded excitedly.

“Oh, aunt, I will be right back,” Joan responded humbly, leaving the kitchen to where she was sent.

Joan rushed the stairs, as she was curious to take a look at the upper interior of the house. It was only her second day there and Gladys, the woman who helped her get the job, had been watching her like a hawk, so she didn’t have a chance to look around.

She walked up the stairs excitedly but missed her step when she almost got to Liam’s room. The tray in her hand fell to the ground and cause a loud noise, she closed her eyes as this happened. And opened them slowly after she heard the shatter of the broken glasses.

“No!” Joan squatted down immediately when she saw the broken glass. She began to pack them up back into the tray before anyone saw her.
