Logan’s POV

She walks away without so much as a glance back. What was she playing at? What about the bond? As soon as she is too far, she will feel her heart start to break. She will be sick, she will…

I trail off, remembering how Kendra had created a potion to trick Lana’s mind. The potion would convince her body that I was near.

My pack looks at me, waiting for me to signal an attack. I should have, that’s what a good Alpha does. Protects his pack and his Luna. Yet, I found myself unable to say anything. Instead, I just let them go. I watch them walk away, disappearing into the forest.

Blake’s large grey wolf nudges me, gesturing towards the packhouse. I tell everyone to return. To go home, there was nothing they could do right now. I needed time to think, to plot my next move.

Inside the office, I smash my fist into the desk, snapping it clean in half.

“It’s the right decision.” Blake mutters as he shifts and pulls on some spare shorts.

“What the fuck would you know, Blake? Need I

Blake’s POVI had no idea if perfect little Logan believed me. I didn’t care either. It wasn’t that I was on Hallen’s side, but I wasn’t on Logan’s either.I had heard through the grapevine that he had finally united with her. The girl he had always been looking for.The news of his long lost mate finally being found. I was happy for him, I really was. Until I saw her.The girl who had screwed me over. The girl that I had fallen in love with. Lana had given me a different name. She had told me her name was Kelsie. Weeks we had been together and I thought I knew everything about her. How wrong was I?I march off to the forest, not stopping for anyone, including the so-called half sister. Freya, the girl who was once Hallens runner. She had tried to stop me, she knew me and I knew her. I didn’t care for her business either, but she clearly didn’t want Logan to know that she was well known in Europe and not for a good reason. It’s probably how she ended up here. In a pack which seems to

Lana’s POVHallen didn’t try anything. He walked me through the forest to a main road where we climbed into the car that was waiting.“You made the right decision, my love.” He pats me on the head, like how a person would pat a dog.“What would you have done if I hadn't come with you?”“I think we both know the answer to that. Lana, my love, you most likely just saved a pack.”The further the car moved, the more the pain inside of me grew. I knew what was happening. The distance between Logan and I was the cause. Every inch of me felt like it was on fire. My skin burned the further we drove. I was close to passing out.As I rest my hand on my stomach, Hallen’s usually still face turns into a frown.“Already?” He questions me like it was my fault as a bead of sweat rolls down the side of my face.As I start to fidget, Hallen places a cool hand on my wrist. Strangely, it relieved some of the pain, but not enough and it isn't long before tears start rolling down my face. The pain was unb

Logan’s POV“What is it?” Freya asks, peering over my shoulder as I stand in front of the shelves.“It’s nothing.” I don’t touch it. I am confused though. I hadn’t worn it in ages and I definitely did not leave it here.“Well it’s gotta be something, or do I need to send for help because you have lost the plot?” She let’s a little laugh, stopping the moment I look at her.“You’re part witch. Can you sense anything?”“Around that?” She points to the bracelet and looks closer to it, suddenly pushing me back. “Don’t touch it.”“What the hell are you talking about, Freya?”“Don’t touch it.” She glances around the room and picks up one of my father’s ties that still sat on display. She carefully drapes the tie over it, covering the bracelet entirely, carful to avoid it with her own bare fingers.“Are you going to tell me what you are doing?”“It’s a talisman, Alpha. Not a good one either.” She turns around to look at me, her blue eyes wide. “You have been wearing this?”“I was, yes. Kendra

Lana’s POVPacing the room, waiting for Blake to say something else was nerve wracking. I still couldn’t believe he was already here, but why would Logan have let him come alone. Logan had said over and over, that a single wolf didn’t stand a chance against Hallen. The door finally starts to open and I take a step back, uncertain of who might be on the other side.Blakes strange grey eyes come into view and then hers, Kendras. He wasn’t holding her, she wasn’t tied up or anything. Like they were there, together.“There, are you happy now?” Kendra’s irritating voice pierced my ears as she glared at Blake.“Don’t assume that I am happy.”“Well, you have seen her, now get lost.” Kendra stares into the back of Blakes head as he takes a step forward into the doorway.“Never assume.” He mutters, smiling at me. Was the statement for me or for Kendra? He grabs hold of Kendra and pulls her into the room. She starts muttering under her breath as Blake grabs her throat with his large hand.“I su

Blake’s POVShe looked horrified as I removed the blade from his chest. She should recognise the blade, but I was unsure. It had been in her bedroom when I went snooping. Not in the room she shared with Logan, but the one that had been designated to her. The blade was hidden under the bed. She might not have even known it was there. The blades of the Blood Pack seemed to have a life of their own.“You killed him! You. Actually killed him.”“He needed to die. The shit he was causing. That’s not a life for you.”“Huh?”“You cannot be associated with him, Lana.”“You have just started a war.” Her brown eyes are wide as she looks between me and the disintegrating vampire. "You said that if a wolf killed a vampire, it would start a war. Why would you do that?"“The war is coming either way.”Her jaw drops open. She shakes her head a little. Her eyes finally resting on the blade that I had killed Hallen with.“Is that mine?”“Yes, it is the blade that belongs to you. A pretty thing for a p

Lana’s POVThere was no point anymore. My life was falling to pieces. I had a man standing in front of me that didn’t give a shit. So much so that he had set me up. I had a mate that was in a constant battle with his feelings over me. I had been played my entire life by the very person I was closest too. I was done.I call my wolf forward, letting her take over. I feel the shift in my body as my bones start to crack. It would be an easy death, painful, but simple. It would be no ones fault.“Lana, stop! Don’t do this.” Blake calls out to me.I already felt weak, weaker than usual as my wolf forced herself forward.“Lana, you can’t do this.”Blake grabs hold of my shoulders as my bones continue to crack. It was almost as painful as my first time. Almost like my body knew it would be the last time.My clothes start to split at the seams as my body is thrown to the ground.“Lana. You have to stop this.” I could see the fear in his grey eyes.“This is what you want!”“I was wrong. Now sto

Logan’s POVBlake had sent word two days ago. Letting me know that Lana was safe. The letter also announced that he would have her back to me as soon as he could. I would be grateful when this shit with Hallen was over.“Are you even listening to me?” Freya prods my arm, shaking out her blonde curls. “What’s so important that you can’t even listen to me.”Her eyes fall to the letter in my hand.“Must be important!” she tries to peer over my shoulder, but I screw the letter up before she has a chance to see anything. Something just felt off about his words and yet, I knew he would do everything to get Lana back to me.“It doesn’t matter. Now what did you drag me out here for?” We were stood in the middle of the forest, in a small clearing.“It does matter, but you clearly don’t want to talk about it, so….”She throws my bracelet to the ground between us.“You have come up with a way to destroy it?” She had been talking about her ideas over the last couple of days.“I think so, but I wa

Lana’s POVBlake leaves me in the house. Shutting me away in another of the many rooms. He tells me to be quiet and that I wouldn’t have any problems. When I questioned him, he glared at me. The glare was cold, it had me backing up as he swiftly left.Trying the door was useless. It didn’t budge. “Sit tight, I won’t be long!” He links me, which only infuriates me further.“How…” But he had already cut me off, blocking me from speaking to him.Logan was still too far away for me to link. I just needed a connection with someone.I had no idea how long I had been away from Logan, and right now I was willing to do anything to get back to him. Anything!I could see something catching the sunlight. It was almost like it was hidden in plain sight. Moving, I realise what it is. My blade, the very one that Blake had decided to start a war with. One year laterLana’s POVI never heard from Blake after that day. It was impossible for him to link me after I broke the bond between us. But it didn’t stop his wolves trying to locate me.For the first six months, it even made the news. That there was a new Alpha of Alpha’s. They gave my name and description, promising a reward if I was returned to them. But as time went on, my appearance on the news became less and less. The humans were losing interest. I was never spotted. I had had my hair permanently relaxed so I didn’t have to deal with the curls. I wore shades when it was sunny or brown contacts when the weather was rubbish. If I went out, I never went out alone. I was always with Dillon. A human. It had taken a couple of months before we officially became a couple. Though that didn’t stop us fooling around before then. Not once did I feel pressured with him. Not once did I feel like he was hiding something. He never hesitated to answer a question. He was different, he wasn’t

Lana’s POV“I already know that.”“No you don’t. Not entirely.”Switching off the car engine. I turn to look at him properly. “What do you mean?”“Blake controls what he wants to control.”“I don’t follow.”“You really are naive, Lana. They told me that you were hard to convince. That you didn’t understand pack life. But you really can’t see what is right in front of you.” He pulls open the jeeps door, grabbing my hand, he places it on his chest. Just like Blake, he had no heartbeat.“How?” I mutter“We are all the same. Anyone that is under Blakes leadership ends up like us.”“Why would you follow him?” “Because it’s always too late. By the time we realise, there is no turning back.”“I don’t get it?”“Holy shit, Lana.” He shakes his head at me. “Are you just not willing to see it, is that it?”“See what? Blake said he made a deal.”“And you didn’t think to question it. He is the reason you killed Logan. He is the reason you chose him. He is the reason for everything.”“Why?”“Becau

Lana’s POVLogan leans into me, gasping for breath. The Blade slips further into his heart. I couldn’t believe that I had done it. That I was the one to kill him. That I was the one to finally stop him.Xavier had told Blake that I was in the back of the car. Blake had talked me through the plan. He made it clear that I could not speak back to him. That if I were, it would give me away. That Logan would know.He told me that they were tracking me, that I would have to take a chance and throw myself from the car. I did exactly what I was told. The moment my feet hit the ground, I run into the forest. Logan had been steps behind me. If he had lunged forward, he probably would have got me. But Blake somehow pulls me away. Lifting my feet off the ground as he placed a hand over my mouth. He wasn’t alone. I could just make out Xavier and Abby hiding among the trees. Abby's eyes were looking in the direction I had just come from. Her lips moving. As Blake hands me the dagger. I felt the sa

Logan’s POVShe had given herself to him. I could smell his stench all over her as I held her close. But she would be mine again soon enough. She doesn’t scream, she doesn’t fight me, even when I pin her against the door. She doesn’t even try to link Blake. In fact she does everything that I ask. Pulling her out of the window, I drop us to the ground. Checking that we were entirely alone before heading into the forest.Blakes men were stupid. They were easy enough to get past undetected. It helped that Lana followed me like a sheep. That she did everything I asked.Pushing her into the back seats of my hidden jeep, she still remains quiet. There was no heavy breathing, there weren’t even any tears. She looks back over her shoulder as I drive away from the new pack that Blake had created.“Don’t you dare link him.” I warn her. If she had already done so, there would be no chance that I would get out of the pack grounds alive. Her head moves up and down. Her brown eyes wide as they lo

Lana’s POVHe was so angry. The grey of his eyes deepened as he snapped at me, pointing to the door. He must have seen the vision too. It was the only answer as to why he was so angry.“I don’t want to see Freya. I want to know what the vision means. I know you saw it too.”“It’s you.” He takes a step back. “It was never Logan. It was always you.”“I don’t know what you mean!” I did though. He had seen it as clearly as I had. The dead bodies piled up underneath me. The blood that was streaked across my face. How he and Logan were both looking up to me.“You know exactly what I mean Lana. Don’t try and play the fool now.”“I’m not… I…” I had no idea what to say and sit myself back down in his office chair. “I would never.”“Wouldn’t you? It’s not like you are sin free is it? You have killed wolves in your bid to find him. Your aim was to stop him.”“I didn’t, that was Abby. I was just… just there. I don’t want to do that. Blake’s POVIt was like we had never been apart. Everything came flooding back. Every inch of her body was just as I remembered.Hurrying up the stairs, I run into Freya. She frowns and then asks if I had seen Lana. She didn't normally speak to me unless Calvin or Lana were around.“Yes, I’m just retrieving some clothes for her.”Her frown deepens until her brows suddenly shoot upwards, a big smile on her face. “Could you just tell Lana that I need to speak to her, like urgently.”“Is there a problem?”“Not exactly. Maybe, I guess. Nothing to do with Logan or anything thats happening.”She spins around and I catch the extra scent on her. She was pregnant.“You want me to tell Lana that you’re pregnant?”She turns back to me. Her eyes wide. “How did you know?”“I’m not stupid, your scent has altered to accommodate the hormones.”“I know you don’t like me Alpha Blake, this wasn’t supposed to happen. A smile spread across her face. “Lana, he screwed up.”“What do you mean, witch?” Blake spits on the ground. Clenching his teeth together.“That mark. He was supposed to confirm it. Kendra put it on you when she saw his mark. She used his blood to form a bond between you. Replicating his mark.”“Kendra? How do you know this?”I had had the mark for as long as I could remember.“Before she figured out the danger of what Logan could do. She thought connecting y

Lana’s POVThere were talks every day. Some that I was shielded from, others where they encouraged me to talk. But I never had anything to say. Other than feeling like my head was going to explode.Blake was growing more and more pissed off when no one could come up with a plan. What Blake wanted to do was use me. I had agreed to it. But so many of the pack hated the idea. They thought that I would turn on them, or that Logan would use me to get exactly what he wanted. It didn’t help that Logan continued to call to me. He seemed to think that he could talk to me whenever he wanted. It was impossible for me to block him. He would never ask me how I was. It was always questioning me about Blakes plans. When I didn’t answer, he would grow mad and cut me off. And for a moment, I would find relief. He was choosing the Blood Pack over me.I had stopped trying to fight it or trying to hide it. Blake would always know. He had already said that Logan was trying to break me down. I finally beli

Blake’s POVFive days had passed and there had been no sign of him. It was like he had fallen off the Earth. I sent people out everyday. But there wasn’t even a single piece of evidence that suggested he had returned home or that he had come anywhere near my pack.Lana wasn’t herself either. She would wander the house. Often deep in thought. I tried to talk to her but it was like talking to a brick wall. Anything that I said just didn’t sink in. Sometimes I would find her in a corner, muttering to Freya. They would stop talking the moment they saw me.I didn’t like the witch being here, but I had very little choice in the matter. Calvin had already marked the witch. If I threw her out, then I would have problems with my brother and Lana. It was a shitty scenario that I was trying my hardest to ignore. Aiming to focus on the bigger problem of Logan.More and more of my pack from Europe turned up everyday. New homes were constantly being built on the land. It was expanding quickly, but
