CHAPTER THREE: Safehaven Pack

"Lane, stop biting your brother's face, let him rest, and don't disturb him," Amy shouted at the four-year-old boy who was being mischievous.

He looked at her and smiled, Amy looked at him and sighed. "Mama," he called out to her, he wanted her to pick him up. She picked him up and kissed him all over his face.

 The Cohen boys were identical and were often mistaken for each other. They were their father's spitting image but when you looked closer, you would notice they had different eye colors.

Leonard took his mum's eye color, he was a quiet and sweet boy. He never gave her troubles when they were still babies, unlike Lane who was demanding.

He was a good observer and when he stared at you, you felt naked under his gaze. The pack members couldn't believe a child could have an aura like that.

Amy and Theodore were concerned about him and his growth. He was too silent for a child his age. His face was always in a frown and he did not relate with other children his age, unlike Lane.

Lane was outgoing and lively, he was the mischief maker and he was loved by everyone in the pack. He was the dream boy of the girls and mothers in the pack.

Amy thought he was like this because she had difficult labor when she was pushing him out but she was reassured by the pack doctor and midwives that he was okay. They hoped to see a change when he grew older.

Lane on the other hand is the black sheep of the family. He is very naughty and loves creating trouble. He was also bad-tempered. His eyes were emerald green

They loved their boys irrespective of their differences. Amy stared at the clock on the wall and thought to herself that the ladies would be here soon. They wanted to discuss pack matters.

Theodore and the men had hosted an emergency meeting regarding the threat from the Flowerfell pack. The Lunas were not involved. Randolph was a source of headache for Theodore.

Alpha Ryan of the Silverhaze pack was also playing pranks alongside the presence of rogues. All this was causing Theodore sleepless nights. She hoped Ryan would not give him a hard time.

She heard Snowstorm speak, " I feel for Fireheart, I can feel his pain and anger. We need to be closer to our mate, he needs us."

Amy replied," you are right but I hardly get to see him, he is very busy with the pack matters and you know we preside over a lot of things as the largest and strongest pack."

Snowstorm replied, " I feel the pain to see that I can't comfort my mate, I can hear his voice calling out to me."

Amy was about to reply when she saw Leonard hugging Lane who had fallen flat on his face. He wasn't talking, his face was set into a frown but his gaze was soft when consoling his brother. She smiled, her family's unity was all that mattered.

As if on cue, the doorbell rang and she went to open the door, Theodore and the others came in with their kids. Shane was carrying Toby and Calhoun, Chase.

Toby was a lanky boy like his father, he was a black-haired boy with his mother's eyes. Chase was heavily built like his father with a feminine touch. 

Toby was outspoken while Chase was soft-spoken. They were a year older than the twin boys. Toby and Lane were the naughty ones.

She saw the worried looks of the others and she took the children into the playroom. She came to meet the others discussing.

"What was the outcome of the meeting?" Amy asked.

"The meeting ended in chaos, Alpha Randolph turned and attacked the Alpha during the meeting," Shane said.

The women covered their mouths and Adrianna asked," what made him attack Theodore?" He had allowed them to call him by name whenever they were behind closed doors.

Calhoun made a brief recap of the meeting. Theodore had told the other Alphas about the threat from Randolph and the presence of rogues around the pack's border.

Then he called for an appropriate sanction to be given to curb his ambition. He called for him to be exempted from the council. Immediately, Randolph got angry and in the twinkle of an eye turned.

He lunged at Theodore and clawed him, he didn't manage to injure him much as he was subdued by the other Alphas. The Alpha adjourned the meeting.

"In other words, the meeting was not concluded, right?" Amy asked.

"Yes, but now we would have to take action against Randolph, we would have to oust him or exempt the whole pack altogether," Theodore said while rubbing his hand on his forehead.

There was silence for a moment before they heard a cry from the children's playroom. They hurried into the room and saw traces of a fight.

They saw Leonard standing in front of the other children with his hand placed behind his back as if correcting the others. Toby and Lane spotted a black eye while Chase was on the floor crying.

They were surprised to see the whole room in disarray, there had been a fight. Theodore boomed loudly," what in the goddess name happened here?"

The boys felt scared and hung their heads. Amy tapped her husband and calmed him down, she understood him, he was troubled, and now the children.

Amy bent down towards Leonard who was acting like a little master, she touched his head lovingly and inquired about what happened in the playroom. He squirmed from her touch and said,

"They are idiots fighting over useless stuff." He turned back to playing with his Ultraman. Amy sighed and faced Lane, Chase was still whimpering.

Adrianna picked her son up and wiped his tears. The men were watching silently. Lane said," Toby hit me and I punched him back."

Chase continued," we were all playing and I accidentally hit his detective Conan robot.  I apologized but Lane was furious and hit me. Toby saw him hitting me and punched him. That was the cause of the fight."

Kamara sighed and looked at her son, she bent down and asked him gently," is that true?" Feeling guilty, Toby nodded his head.

Theodore knelt and gathered the boys close, he spoke gently saying," Lane apologize to Chase, he had told you sorry, you do not have to hit him. A true leader forgives a repentant soul."

He faced Toby," I understand you want to stick up for Chase but next time you call an adult after separating them."

"Chase, you should learn to stand up for yourself, do not allow others to put you down. Don't be a sissy."

The boys nodded and apologized to one another. They returned to playing and the adults went back to their talk.
