CHAPTER ONE: Safehaven Pack, Arizona

"Alpha, we have got another situation." Theodore got a report from his gamma Shane through the communication link. "Come to the pack house and report," he replied.

He sighed and went out of the study, the pack getting restless because of the presence of the rogues. They are a threat to the peace of the pack.

He couldn't sleep well because of this, he and the others were always on high alert and this has been a source of worry for Amy. She was pregnant and so needed every rest she could get.   

Thinking of his wife, he smiled. They were expecting sons, twin boys, and also identical. He must keep the pack safe before they come into the world.

Coming out the door, he met Amy coming towards him with a smile. He was grateful to have her as a wife, thanks to the moon goddess he wasn't allowed to reject her. 

If he had then when he was still naive and blind, he wouldn't have seen how great of a treasure she was. With her beauty and brain, it wasn't a surprise to see the pack progressing.

She was his right-hand man apart from Shane and Calhoun. Her counsels were always timely and accurate, she was an interesting woman.

God, she was beautiful. She was just like a refined piece of jade, her eyes were the striking part of her. They were a pair of hazel brown and when she smiles, her dimple shows. Even her pout and frown were interesting.

Amy, seeing her husband staring at her without blinking, tapped him and asked, "what were you thinking? I have been here and you didn't seem to notice."

He pulled her into a hug and felt comforted, being in her embrace made his day. " I was thinking of how I would have been in trouble if I hadn't married you."

She chuckled" Yeah, you are right, what would you have done without me." He replied, "nothing." While they were in each other's embrace, the door suddenly opened and two women came in, a blonde and a brunette.

"Oopsie," the woman chorused. They disengaged and waved them off.  The women who came in were Adrianna and Kamara. Adrianna, the brunette was Calhoun's wife, and Kamara, the blonde was Shane's. They were both beautiful and wise.

They came towards Amy and held her by both hands. " It is time for your session, Luna," Adrianna the calm one said." 

" You don't get to hold her for now," Kamara said to Theodore. She stuck her tongue out at him, she had always been a mischievous person right from childhood. Theodore just looked at Amy with a helpless gaze.

She looked back right at him and replied," I don't have much say, you have always known Kamara." She left with the ladies.

Theodore spoke through the link, " have you checked the perimeters?" Shane replied," I am on my way to the pack house." He told him to come along with Calhoun and detached the communication link.

Calhoun, a redhead, and a burly man came in right then, he greeted him and flopped onto a couch. He had dark circles, he had gone on a diplomatic mission and hadn't gotten enough time to rest.

Theodore was just about to tell him that he had sent Shane to bring him to the house when Shane, a thinly built man, and a silver head came in. " Alpha, Calhoun isn't home," he trailed off when he saw him seated on the couch.

"There you are, you look a mess," Shane said to Calhoun. Calhoun looked at him and yawned. He said " I haven't gotten enough rest since I arrived and here I am again to make a report. So much for being a beta." 

Theodore looked at his two friends and colleagues, he felt grateful to have them. Calhoun was a good beta, he was a diplomat and acted rationally while Shane was a good strategist and ruthless to his enemies contrary to his look and build. They complement one another.

They joked around for a while before they discussed the pending issues. Shane put on a serious look and said, " while patrolling the borders, we noticed another set of rogues. By the time we moved to check, they had gone, we only saw the trails."

Theodore replied, " they are getting more courageous, let us survey a few more times, if they are not dangerous, we won't attack but if otherwise, we attack."

Calhoun agreed with him and he reported about his mission, "I went through all the packs, saw their progress, and mediated where necessary. The only problem is Randolph, he refuses to give up on his ambition."

They agreed to watch out for him since he had not attacked them yet. Theodore promised to hold a council meeting to keep him in check. They switched to other matters.

Amy was being taken through birthing class by the ladies, she was told to exercise to ease her delivery. After the sessions, they lounged around and started discussing the pack matters relating to the females.

They talked about the pack issues and their mates. They discussed their kids, they were still talking when they heard laughter from the living room. They decided to check.

The women came in and saw the men joking around. Adrianna saw Calhoun performing as a clown and she shook her head. Her mate was loud, he hates silence. 

Kamara saw Shane frowning and she laughed. Amy silently went towards Theodore and he drew her to himself. She leaned into his embrace. The women went to sit with their mates and engaged in playful banter. 

Kamara drew Shane into the fun. They threw jabs at each other and laughter filled the room they were in.

Theodore felt content and happy. He had it all. The pack is progressing and everyone is happy. All that is left is for Amy to give birth to the babies safely with the moon goddess' help.
