Chapter 3

POV Lilly

I looked on nervously as the trio got closer. I looked at Jasmine and nodded towards the door but she shook her head.

"Hey! Jasmine, right?" The girl called out as they got close.

"Yeah, and you're Nikini." Jasmine replied, trying to sound bored.

It probably convinced them but I knew her too well. She was nervous.

"Yep but please call me Nik. This is Theo " she nodded to the sweet looking boy.

"Hi" he smiled even bigger.

"This is Dolph." she put her hand on the back of the scary looking one.

He nodded but didn't say anything.

"Yeah. I've had classes with them before" Jasmine replied.

She stared at Nik for a moment in silence. It was awkward to say the least.

"Who's this with you?" Nik finally asked, gesturing to me.

"This is Lilly." Jasmine replied stiffly. I sighed.

"Hi" I waved and smiled. Theo held out his hand and I shook it. Nik did the same and after a moment, so did Dolph.

"Well, Lilly. What brings you to Hudsonville? Visiting Jasmine?" Theo asked.

"No, I just moved here" I replied. At that, Dolph frowned.

"I didn't hear about anyone buying a house here" he declared.

"That's because she's staying with me" Jasmine replied.

The three looked between the two of us and all took deep breaths. It was almost like they were smelling something. I looked at Jasmine and she shrugged.

"You two are related. Half sisters?" Nik stated.

I was startled but recovered quickly. An inkling of what was going on here was starting to form in my mind but I didn't know enough to know for sure.

"You're good. Most people don't think that. We don't look anything alike. They don't usually believe it when we tell them that we're related" I replied.

"So you are sisters?" Dolph pressed.

I hesitated but Jasmine shook her head.

"Nope" she replied with a smile.

Then she let the silence take over.

I made a show of checking my phone.

"Oh, shit. Jas we've got to get going." I said and she nodded.

"It was nice meeting you. I'm sure that I'll see you at school" I waved as I pulled Jasmine away.

Nik smirked and nodded, "I'm sure that we will".

POV Griffin

I slept late after getting wasted again last night. When I finally awoke, there was a naked girl that I didn't know in my bed. I sighed. This was a normal morning for me.

I shook the girl awake. She opened her eyes in confusion and looked at me.

"Hey! Get out" I commanded.

She glared at me but didn't say anything as she gathered her clothes and walked out. I smirked after she slammed the door.

{Hey, bosses. We've got a situation down here at the mall} Dolph mind linked both me and my father. Nik and Theo were in the link as well.

{What? Is there some amazing sale?} I joked.

{No. There's a couple girls here and we just heard them say Skol's name} Nik replied, all business.

{So?} I asked.

{So, they're outsiders. I've never seen the blond one but the other one is that dark haired girl that started at school last year} Nik continued.

{Bitch. She just called us weird} Dolph muttered.

I growled at that for some reason. I shook it off though.

{What's her name?} Dad(Skol) demanded.

{I think that it's Jasmine} Theo volunteered.

I thought for a moment and remembered her.

{Oh, yeah. The one that kept to herself all year. She even ignored Cedric when he tried. She seems a bit off. Her smell is ... unique} I added.

{Where does she live?} Dad suddenly asked.

{The old Wildes place} Nik replied after a moment, knowing that Dad hated hearing that name or about that place. I braced myself.

{Why wasn't I informed that someone was living there again!!!} He roared.

{Because I knew that you'd be upset. We checked it out. It's not her} I replied, calmly.

{Who is it?} He demanded

{A women and her daughter. They have the last name of Cabot.} I answered, smugly.

{We're going to talk about this later, boy} he snapped. I sighed, not looking forward to it.

{What do the girls look like?} He asked.

{Jasmine's got dark hair and dark eyes} Dolph began.

{Fuck. What does the other girl look like?} Dad insisted.

{She's got blond hair and green eyes. They are both stunning} Nik replied.

{Dammit. How old?} Dad continued.

{They look to be our age. Jasmine is in our grade} Theo answered.

{Have someone follow them but make sure that they don't get made. I need to look into this. You three stay at the mall until I tell you but follow them if they leave} Dad commanded and cut the link.

{Come to my office, now!} He yelled in another link.

I sighed again and drug myself up. I threw on some jeans and a t shirt and then hurried out of my room and down the stairs to Dad's office. I took a deep breath before I opened the door.

"What the hell, Griff!" Dad screamed and I cringed.

"Listen, I just didn't want you to get all upset. I told you, I checked it out myself. It's not Rose" I answered calmly.

"What does the woman look like?" he demanded.

I thought for a moment, trying to recall.

"Like her daughter. Dark hair, dark eyes, tan" I began.

"Beautiful?" he cut me off and I nodded.

"Is her name Iris?" he guessed and I stared at him for a moment before nodding.

"FUCK!" he yelled.

He turned to me and glared, "That's her sister! Iris is Rose's sister!".

I took a deep breath. I had fucked up royally.

"Shit, dad, I didn't know" I began and he cut me off.

"Who was with them?" he asked and I shook my head.

I looked Dad in eyes, "It was just them, I swear."

"That doesn't make sense. They were always together" he mumbled.

"What about this blond girl? Did you see her?" he asked, finally calming down. I shook my head.

"No, she's got to be new" I answered and Dad sat and thought for a moment.

"Blond, green eyes. She's got to be related to her. It's too much of a coincidence" Dad muttered. 

He linked me and the others again.

{Find her, get as much information as you can. I'll send a tracker to follow them as they leave} Dad commanded.

{On it} Nik replied.

Dad and I worked on some paperwork for a bit while we waited to hear from Nik. Suddenly she linked us again.

{We couldn't get much out of them} Nik began.

{The blond is named Lilly. She's living with Jasmine in the same house and they are related but they wouldn't tell us how.} She finished quickly.

{Anything else?} Dad demanded.

{Both their scents were...strange. I've never smelt it before but the girl Lilly's scent was even odder than Jasmine's. It was almost... like a wolf but not quite.} Nik added and Dad nodded.

{Thanks, Nik. Get yourself and your crew back here but make sure someone is tracking them from now on} Dad finished and cut the link.

"Nik has the best nose in the pack. She's right at least about Jasmine's scent. It always seemed a bit off to me" I told Dad and he nodded.

"Rose and Iris were the same way. I never could figure it out. Their Mother was like that too. My Dad always told us to leave them be and not push it. I swear that man knew something about them that he took to the grave. I remember catching him and their mom chatting everyone once in a while." Dad informed me.

My grandfather died before I was born but all the stories I heard about him illustrated him as a tough, by the books type of guy.

"That doesn't sound like something he would usually do" I replied and Dad nodded.

"It wasn't. He always wanted us to investigate anything odd in his territory. I never understood why he seemed to protect them" Dad added and I sighed.

"I don't like this" I began but Dad shook his head.

"No Griffin. We will track them but don't push it. If Rose is with them or is coming back, I won't risk scaring her off" He commanded and I stared at him.

"She left you. She rejected you. Do you really want her back?" I asked him in disbelief.

"You'll understand once you find your mate." He replied with a smirk. I shook my head.

"What are you going to do if she is back?" I shot back.

"I won't let her go this time. She'll never leave me again"
