POV Lilly
"We're home!" I called
"Hi, girls!" Iris yelled from the kitchen.
We followed her voice to join her.
"How was your day?" she asked.
We ignored the question and stared at her.
"Where's my mother?" I demanded.
"She went out. It was hilarious. You'll crack up when you see her when she gets back. She used an aging spell and I swear, she looked exactly like our mother. She was not happy but she didn't want to try anything else." Iris giggled and then turned to face us.
Her smile dropped when she saw our faces.
"Werewolves AND Vampires?!" Jasmine screamed and Iris cringed.
"I couldn't tell you!" She defended.
"Yeah, we heard. Was that Grandma's doing?" I cut her off and she nodded.
"She admitted to it once Rose and I figured it out. I think that's why no one ever bothered us here. The pack owes our family big." She explained.
"That was just the Werewolves. You could of at least told us about the Vamps" Jasmine raged.
"Yeah, that's true." I added and Iris shrugged.
"It didn't seem fair to tell you about one without telling you about the other" she tried and we both rolled our eyes at her.
"Rose and I thought that you would be safer without knowing" she added and I sighed.
"Yeah, real safe. Just send us into a school full of creatures that could kill us with a snap of their fingers" I muttered.
"How did you figure it out so quickly?" Iris asked us and Jasmine and I exchanged a look.
"Well..." I began but Jasmine took over.
Jasmine told her mother the whole story starting with meeting Griffin this morning. Iris got paler and paler as she went on. When Jasmine finally finished, Iris sat down at the table in silence.
"I can't believe it. What are the chances?" she mumbled and I looked at Jasmine.
"So is Jasmine right? Is that what happened to my mother too?" I demanded.
Iris nodded weakly.
"Yes. Everything. Down to the fact that her mate is Griffin's father" Iris added and my legs felt weak.
"Well...shit..." Jasmine muttered as she plopped down in a chair.
"I'm going to call Rose. We need her home to discuss this" Iris finally broke the silence.
Jasmine and I nodded in agreement. We watched as she dialed the phone and waited.
Jasmine frowned, "She's not answering."
She sent my mother a text but still looked uneasy. I was worried too. Mom would always pick up the phone. She was always worried that one of us was in trouble.
"Did she say where she was going?" I asked.
"She was going to go to the library to look up some things and then to the store for some supplies for a few spells she wanted to try this week." She answered.
"What store?" I asked.
"I don't know. She said she needed some herbs that she didn't have time to grow. There's no mystic shop in Hudsonville so, the grocery store?" Iris explained.
"We need to find her...now!" I said as I felt my senses go haywire.
Iris and Jasmine felt it too and we jumped up. We had a sixth sense about each other and always knew when one of us was in serious trouble. Something was upsetting my mother.
"Auntie, you stay here in case she comes back, Jas come with me." I ordered and they both nodded.
"Be careful, girls and keep your phones on." Iris yelled as we rushed out the door.
We ran to the car and Jasmine pulled away.
"Let's check the library" Jasmine suggested and I nodded.
I looked behind us as we pulled away and frowned as I noticed a car pulling out behind us.
"How many grocery stores are in Hudsonville?" I asked and Jasmine thought for a moment.
"Three. We'll have to check them all" She decided.
We pulled into the library parking lot and searched for my mother's car.
"I'm going to run inside just to be safe, you wait out here" I said.
I hurried out of the car and inside the building. I took a deep breath. Normally, I loved libraries. The smell of the books and old bindings, the hushed sounds, the sense of peace, I loved it all but not today. Today I hated it because I couldn't sense her anywhere in the warm building. I took a quick glance around but ran out seconds after running in.
"Nope" I muttered as I slammed the car door.
"Shit. We will find her, Lilly." Jasmine promised me.
"What if Skol found her?" I asked as she drove to the nearest grocer.
Jasmine looked over at me, "Do you think that he would harm her? She's his mate."
I sighed, "Yeah, but she rejected him and ran. She had a kid with another guy. He's got to be pissed."
"Even so, we know that werewolves never harm their mates plus he did the same thing." Jasmine shook her head.
I knew that she was right. Every book and report said that. Even our werewolf friends swore to that.
"He might not hurt her but he could take her. It happens all the time" I pointed out and Jasmine nodded.
"Yeah, but he doesn't know who he's dealing with, does he?" She smiled.
"If he took her, Aunt Rose will not take that lightly. I'm more worried for him than her. She might kill him" Jasmine continued.
We pulled up at the store and spotted her car.
"Just drive past it. Something about this feels wrong" I said and Jasmine did as I said.
I looked behind us and noticed that the same car that had pulled out after us on our street was behind us.
"Fuck!" I yelled when the realization hit me.
Jasmine looked at me sharply.
"We're being followed. If they didn't know where she was, they do now" I spat, berating myself for not checking sooner.
"Shit! What do we do now?" she asked and I thought.
"Park. Away from her car. We pretend that everything is fine. We go in and buy a couple of things. Then we book it to our house. If it's who we think, they can't touch us there." I decided.
Jasmine did as I said and soon we were in the store, buying some snacks in a daze. I kept trying to sense if my mother is near but I still couldn't locate her. She was there recently. I could tell but she was gone now. We paid for our items, and as we were walking out, my phone rang. I looked and see my mom's number.
"Mom? Are you okay?" I asked her.
"She's just fine" A familiar deep voice answered.
POV Griffin
Dad, Boris and Graves all stared at each other for a moment before Nik cleared her throat.
"I have a theory" she began and we all turned to look at her.
"So, some odd things happened at school today" she looked and me and I nodded.
"Griffin was trying to scare Lilly by threatening to mark her" she continued.
"Boy!" Dad yelled and I nodded. I knew that he was going to give me shit for that.
"I know, I fucked up" I admitted and he shook his head at me.
"That's not the point, right now." Nik cut in. Dad motioned for her to continue.
"When he did, he went flying back, away from her. She didn't touch him. I was watching. Then, at gym, we were playing dodgeball and a couple of throws that Lilly and Jasmine threw defied all laws of physics." she finished.
Dolph nodded, "Yeah, I threw a ball at Lilly and it curved at the last minute for no reason."
"I smelled something strange during gym." I added and Dad whipped to look at me.
"What did it smell like?" he asked.
I closed my eyes to remember.
"Like lightening? But something other than that too. Like nature? Like a storm? I don't know how to explain it" I tried but Dad nodded and looked at Graves.
"Magic." Graves muttered.
"Fuck! Of course! How could I not see it! It explains everything. Why they smell different. The spell was her mothers. That's why dad never wanted us to investigate them. That's how she was able to get away and hide for so long and so well. That's how she knew about the wolfsbane." Dad ranted.
I looked at my father in confusion, not following. He looked at me and grinned.
"My mate, YOUR mate. They're not human." he said.
"No shit. Tell me something I don't know." I replied and he chuckled.
"They're witches. Powerful ones I'm betting." he replied and I felt like the wind got knocked out of me.
I thought quickly and realized that it all made sense. Everything fit except a few questions.
"If that's true, then we need to get to her quick. That HAS to be Rose. The only way to take her is now. If she gets back to that house, there's no way to get in." Boris pointed out.
Dad nodded and called someone on speaker.
"Hey, boss" our tracker answered.
"You still following her?" he demanded.
"Yeah. She's just pulling into the grocery now" he replied.
"Send me the address" Dad commanded and hung up.
"Lets go get our mates, boy" Dad said as we all stood up.
POV GriffinWe followed my father outside and jumped into a nearby SUV. "Do we need back up?" I asked and he chuckled."Nope" he replied. We pulled into the parking lot just and saw Rose still looking like an elderly lady put her bags in her trunk. We pulled up next to her and jumped out of the vehicle. She glanced up at us but tried to ignore us. Dad grinned when he saw her."Do you need help with your groceries?" he asked as he strode over to her. She looked up at him and we saw the shock pass over her face, she masked it quickly though."No, deary. I fine" she replied as she hurried to put the last bag in. Dad just stood there, staring at her. He took a deep breath of her scent and closed his eyes for a moment. Then he looked back at her."You look so familiar. Have we met?" he asked, still grinning.Just then, her phone rang. She made no movement to answer it though. She looked up an
POV GriffinI opened my eyes and looked around at the chaos. I blinked and remembered what was going on. The fog and whatever spells they were using had cleared. Painfully, I jumped to my feet and looked around for Lilly. I smelled the air and focused on the house. Fuck! They were in there. I was so close. I literally had her in my arms. Twice! I looked for my father and found him livid in the street in front of the house with my crew and his. I eyed him as I walked up, watching as he paced frantically back and forth. "How are we going to get them out?" I asked the group. There was silence aside from my Dad growling. I looked toward the house and saw Lilly and her mother peaking out. I looked at her in sadness and loss. She looked back at me with the same
POV Griffin"This is my pack. I already have one. I don't need another." She spat at me and I felt my world crash."I, Lilly Wildes, reject..." She began and I lost all self control. I roared as I launched myself at her. I didn't give a fuck what the wolfsbane or spells they had laid would do to me. I vaulted over the gate and tackled her. I turned as we fell so she landed on me and put my hand over her mouth. I didn't want to harm her, just stop her."Don't you dare!" I snarled and then the pain hit. It felt like I was literally being torn apart. I saw her face flash in fear and panic. "Mom!" She screamed
POV LillyDinner was awkward from the start. No one knew what to say with Griffin sitting there. I had no idea how to view him. Was he our enemy or my hero? My love or my hate? We began eating in silence but soon my mom couldn't resist."So, Griffin..what do you think is going to happen now?" She asked with a glare. I sent her a warning look which she ignored.Griffin smirked, "I'm not sure. I hope that we'll finish this delicious dinner and maybe relax and sleep." Mom rolled her eyes but Jasmine snickered. "This is wonderful. You are all excellent chefs" he added.
POV GriffinAfter taking a few more breaths of Lilly's scent, I calmed enough to let go of her. She looked scared and I hated it. I didn't want her fear, I wanted her love."I'm sorry baby. I didn't mean to scare you" I whispered in her ear and pulled out her chair for her. After we both sat, I looked at the other women at the table. As I began to get to know them, I could see behind their cold facade. They were all terrified. My heart broke as I looked at them. "We will discuss your 'date' later." I said to Lilly with a dark look and then turned to the rest."What pack is it?" I asked and Rose sighed."The Dark Moon pack" she replied.I knew the pack. They were large but not even close to our size. We had a stable relationship with them."I know them. We are allied together. Dad and I will calm them. They won't find you here." I replied and Rose seemed to relax a bit."Would you at least think a
POV LillyGriffin and I got up and followed Jasmine back to the living room. I was mentally kicking myself for letting things go so far with Griffin. I was by no means inexperienced but I didn't want to do things and grow the mate bond with him while I was still unsure of him and our future. I didn't need a broken heart on top of everything else."Here you go. I'm so sorry that we don't have anything for you to wear" Aunt Iris said as we entered the living room, gesturing to the couch."That's no problem" Griffin smirked."Do you need anything else?" Jasmine asked him."Actually, if it's okay with the rest of you, I was wondering if I could borrow a phone to talk to my Dad. I would like to tell him the things you have shared with me, with your permission, of course. I think that it will save time and frustration in the morning when we meet again" he suggested.I looked over at my mom as the rest of us did. I co
POV GriffinI watched over everyone as the four ladies explained what they told me last night. They began with the coven and then explained about the Dark Moon pack. I kept a close eye on everyone to make sure that they did not do anything to scare these women more. I was pleased to see everyone react in a protective manner."We will never allow that coven to get near you!" Boris vowed and Graves nodded in agreement."We will deal with the Dark Moon pack. Don't worry about them." Dolph piped in.Lilly looked at him in surprise but he just nodded at her."No wonder you were all so nervous about us." Theo added.I cleared my throat and everyone turned to me. I knew why they hadn't told them this part but I wanted the others to understand how truly scared and brave these four were."That's not all." I began."You don't have to tell them that. I think you cleared that up last night." Rose began but I shook my
POV LillyI sighed as we pulled into a parking lot. The ride wasn't as bad as I expected. Griffin had lightly rubbed my back the whole time. Instead of being annoying it was kind of nice. I looked up to see the diner. It was bright and happy looking and I couldn't help but smile at the sight of it. Everyone quickly piled out of the car and Griffin helped me out and then jumped out behind me. He grabbed my hand and walked next to me. When we got to the door, he let go of me and opened it. He ushered me in as Dolph took the door. Griffin put his arm around my waist and steered me towards a booth in the back. When we got to the table, I slipped in and Griffin followed me. Nik, Jasmine and Theo sat on the other side and Dolph pulled a chair up to the end of the table. I looked over the menu and asked, "What's good here?"The others besides Jasmine stared at me in shock."You've never been here?" Nik asked.
POV LillyI groaned as I woke up and looked around to see Griffin smiling down at me. All the memories from the night before came back and I blushed as he smirked and chuckled."How are you feeling?" he drawled and I glared at him."Sore?" he guessed and I nodded.I looked down to see that I had Griffin's boxers and tank on since we had run to the bathroom before sleeping. He quickly slipped on his pants."Let's go eat." I suggested."Okay but you should at least put on your bra." he recommended and I realized that he was right.
POV LillyI woke up to see Griffin sleeping soundly next to me, arms wrapped protectively around my waist. I smiled at him, admiring his handsome features. I knew he was awake when a moment later, he made a ugly face at me and pulled me into my chest."You sleep okay, baby?" he whispered into my hair and I nodded."Good." He looked at me and sighed."I know today is going to be difficult. Just please know that I will always be here for you. You and your family are not alone." He said."Thanks, Griff." I whispered and he grinned.I unwrapped his arms an
POV GriffinAfter we changed and got ready, Dad, Dolph, Nik, Theo, Penny and I piled into the limo. We picked up Cedric and Ember at the coven house and then stopped to get Lance at his house. Chance and Evan weren't going to make it to the dinner but they said would be joining us in the morning. As we headed to pick up Lilly, Jasmine and Rose, we looked at each other."So we need to watch over these three at all times this weekend. This is a lot for them to deal with along with so many coming to mourn with them. It's bound to be overwhelming. I know that we are all grieving but they are feeling so much more than any of us. We have to be there for them and for each other, agreed?" Dad began and we all nodded."I'm going to be honest, I have no idea what to expect during the ceremony or celebration. It's their ritual and we must honor and respect it. It's fine if we don't want to participate but we must be respectful no matter what" h
POV LillyAfter dinner, we packed up and left. Hugging all our new and old friends good bye even though we would see them all in less than a week. The trip home was uneventful and the rest of the week passed quickly.Jasmine and I were excused from school due to the death in our family. The other's went and were busy the rest of the time with preparations for Iris's funeral. Despite all that needed to be done, Griffin, Cedric and Skol spent every night at our house. They also provided bodyguards for us at all times, whether we wanted them or not. We had one vamp and two werewolves with us always. It was annoying but they did their best not to bother us.We spent the first part of the week making the potions needed for Iris's ceremony and gathering the pr
POV GriffinI was beyond pissed, I was livid. How dare this mutt try to take my mate! I loved Lilly and no one could stand between us. I was already enraged with Chance over Lilly almost dying for him but now? Now, I was going to tear him apart. I might let him live for Lilly's sake but you better believe that he was in for a world of hurt.I looked over at Lilly as Chance approached and felt sorry for her. This was a terrible situation for her. I was sorry that it had come to this but I also knew that it needed to be done. In a way, I was relieved when Chance challenged me. At least now we could get it all out in the open.I knew that he wanted my mate. I knew from the second I saw him look at her. The fact that she saved him just made him want her more, especia
POV LillyI was surprised to hear that we needed to discuss the Blood Venom pack. I had assumed that the pack was completely wiped out. Unfortunately, I was out voted and we had to go have lunch before it could be discussed. I sighed, knowing that Griffin was going to be a pain in my ass about eating something.I wasn't trying to be difficult, I just wasn't in the mood to eat. Could you blame me with everything I had gone through? I knew that Griffin was right, though. I didn't need to get weak or sick, especially now. I sighed as I sat next between Griffin and Dolph. Dolph. That was another issue. What was that all about? Why was he so attached to me? Why did I feel safer and calmer around him? It was all too much. Lunch was a quiet and tension filled event. As
POV GriffinI spent most of the night watching over Lilly as she slept in my arms. I couldn't stop holding or looking at her yet. Part of me still didn't believe that she was here and alive and safe. I buried my face in her neck gently to not wake her.I was still upset about how she saved Chance. I was trying to let it go but part of me was livid that she made that choice. That she sacrificed herself. My wolf half was frustrated with her and so was I but we knew that there was nothing we could do about it. We had to move forward and we had to heal.Jasmine, Rose and Lilly were safe and unharmed but in body only. Emotionally and mentally, they were broken. I still don't know that whole story of the what happened in the basement. I know that some of Evan's pack me
POV LillyI was in a daze. I had no idea what was going on any longer. I remembered finishing with Curtis and then crying over Aunt Iris. Then Griffin picked me up and I just let go. I knew that he would keep me safe so I tuned out. When I came to, we were in a room in Evan's pack house sitting on a bed and Griffin was washing blood off my face with worry in his eyes. He gently rubbed my face with the cloth, wringing the water and blood from it occasionally into a bowl on the nightstand."There, that's better, right, baby?" he whispered and I nodded, my eyes clearing. He gave a sigh of relief when I made eye contact with him."There you are." he breathed and p
POV JasmineI heard my mother's scream for Lilly as my Aunt Rose was working at freeing me. She was having a hard time with my shackles. I looked over in horror to see Lilly fall down as Chance opened his eyes and I knew what she had done. She had done what we had warned her over and over about. I gasped at the blood coursing down her cheeks from her eyes. She had used the last of her magic to save Chance. She was dying. My mother looked over at me as she caught Lilly and my mom smiled and nodded with a look of peace. Mom grabbed Lilly and whispered something. I saw light flash between them and my mother slump down. I looked on in horror as my Mother gave Lilly all her magic in one second. I knew that if we didn't reach her in a few seconds, there would be nothing we could do. Her face was already covered in tears of blood."Rose! Take care of my child!" Mom yelled as Rose finally got me fre
