Chapter 2 - Nicholas

I've been searching for my mate since I turned 16, which was 8 months ago.

On the first of each month, I visit different packs to hopefully find my mate. So far, I've had no luck.

I don't know but I always have a weird feeling that my mate's close but then the feeling disappears for s little while and then comes back. I don't get it.

I got into the car and waited for Daniel to start the car. "Where to today, Alpha" he asked.

Daniel was a man in his early 50s. He's been with out family for a very long time, even before I was born so he was one of the most trusted members. Whenever I visit these different packs, he always drives.

"The Darkhide Hounds. They actually called me and asked me to visit them so that's where we'll go today" I told him.

He nodded and started the car.

We arrived to the Darkhide Hounds at around midday so it was about a three hour drive.

"Hello, Alpha Nicholas. It's great to see you" the alpha of the pack said. He was young but a bit older than me.

"Of course, Alpha Alaric. It's my pleasure" I shook his hand that he had exended when introducing himself.

"Let's head inside, shall we? Maybe our pack is the lucky pack and you'll find your mate" he said and started walking towards the pack house.

"We will just have to wait and see but yes, hopefully, I have been looking for my mate for quite some time now" I told him honestly.

Visiting so many packs and then getting disapponted was getting really tiring. I hated it.

"I've heard. News travel quite fast. Especially when a fine young alpha is looking for his mate" as he spoke, we arrived at the front door.

I'm guessing the door wasn't locked since he opened the door without a key. We walked inside. The hope of smelling my mate's scent was strong but something is telling me this wasn't going to the the pack I'd find my mate in.

We walked into the living room. There sat multiple women. Sure they were all beautiful and attractive but none of them captured my attention like my mate should.

"So?" the alpha asked.

I shook my head "I don't think so, but thank you. I appericiate you inviting me here."

"It's alright. I was hoping someone from our pack would be your mate but you can't choose what fate has planned for you, can you?" he shrugged.

"I'l see you out" he said.

We left the living room and walked towards the car.

"Well, I wish you well and hope you'll find your mate. Be sure to give me a call when you do find this lucky girl."

"Thank you and I will." I got into the car and Danile started driving.

"No luck?" he asked.

"Not yet."

We drove for about an hour before I wanted to go for a run. "Hey, Daniel. I'll run home. I need to let out some frustration. Can you drop me off here?" I asked.

"Of course" he pulled over the car. I got out and shifted.

Why do you think we're not having any luck finding our mate? My wolf, Silver asked.

I don't know. Maybe she hasn't turned 16 yet. I suggested even though it was highly unlikely to be the reason.

I doubt it but you already knew that, didn't you?

Doesn't hurt to think so. I mean, it's better than to think we don't have a mate at all, 'cause I probably will start thinking that if our mate doesn't show up.

Suddenly a smell hit my nose. It smelled like waterfalls and just nature, pure nature. No mixed smells from other things like humans or cars. It was refreshing.

MATE! My wolf yelled.

I started running towards the smell. Her scent was getting stronger and stronger as I ran. But for some reason the smell just disappeared. What the hell? Where did her scent go? It doesn't just disappear like that.

I was wondering the same thing. The scent of a mate doesn't just disappear like that, it wasn't possible.

I continued running, hoping to find the source of the amazing smell again but nothing. It was like it vanished into thin air.
