Fiona’s POV

“Will Isla ever return?” Dawn inquired.

I inhaled deeply, staring outside from the window and hoping to see Isla walk in. She doesn’t deserve to have her life wasted just because someone powerful thinks she was betrayed.

“I wish I had an answer to give you, Dawn. I am just as clueless as you too.”

She rubbed at my back gently. “Don’t worry, she will be fine. Give me a minute to check on Louis.”

Dawn is the reason I haven’t lost my mind yet. Being with a sick fussy child can be very demanding. Isla’s presence from before made it easy for me to cope with having a newborn.
