Chapter one hundred &thirty two

As he watched, he noticed that Darell seemed distracted, his attention split between Marcelyn and something else. Nicholas strained to listen in on their conversation, using his heightened senses to pick up every word.

"Darell, what's wrong?" Marcelyn asked, pulling away slightly. "You seem distant tonight."

"It's nothing," Darell replied, but Nicholas could hear the uncertainty in his voice. "I just have a lot on my mind."

Marcelyn raised an eyebrow, clearly not convinced. "Is it about the pack or is it about your sister Bella and her relationship with Sam? Or are you worried that Sam's father will not agree with your mother's condition?"

Darell sighed, running a hand through his hair. "It's not just the pack and it's not just about Bella," he said. "There's something else going on. I can feel it."

"What do you mean?" Marcelyn asked, her expression growing serious.

Darell hesitated for a moment, as if debating whether or not to tell her. "I've been having these dreams," he said final
