---XAVIER--

I am Xavier, the Alpha King of all Alphas. It has been more than a fucking decade, and I haven't met my mate. Since I turned sixteen, I have always yearned to meet her, but I guess luck was not on my side like that of my parents, who met each other at sixteen years old.

Every year, balls are organised on my behalf to find my soulmate in different packs.

I have been going to the balls for nearly a decade, and I vowed not to go again if I don't find my mate this year. My wolf is always sad because he claims he is lonely without his soulmate. I always have to shut him out when he nags, because it also hurts me.

I do not want people to mock me and say that I am weak because I have not met my mate yet. which I continue to prove them wrong that not having a mate by your side to rule does not make you a weak Alpha.

People always bow when they hear my name. They all want to be in my good books to prevent having problems with me.

Scumbags, do they think I don't see it all. The ball is about to start again and I'm always dreading the outcome of it, but I have to go to make my mom, the previous Luna, happy because her greatest wish is to see me find my Luna.

A knock came on the door in my office. I was awaiting my beta, Nathaniel, to bring me the names of the pack we would be visiting in a few days.

"Come in" I replied.

Nathaniel and I have been friends since we were children. He met his mate, Sophia, when he turned eighteen. I sometimes feel jealous of them when they go out for dates and sometimes when I see them cuddling on the sofa.

He has two young pups and Sophia is expecting her third child. How lovely.

Nathaniel walked in with a file in hand. He is about 5.6 feet tall and very muscular, but not as muscular as I am.

"Alpha, Luna Gabriella said I should hand this file to you," he said, taking a seat on the chair in front of my desk with his hands lifted in front of me. I took it and thanked him. The room fell into a comfortable silence, and only breaths could be heard.

"Xavier, how do you feel?"  those were the words Nathaniel said and I felt my whole world crumble down.

"Nat, I feel empty as always when we are about to go for the search. You know that is what I call it, because it's actually just a search disguised in the name of a ball", I replied, looking through the file.

"Don't say that Xavier, you will one day find her" he reassured me, but my hopes were not lifted  because I had heard that a thousand times but still no mate.

I wanted to get my mind off it, so I asked him a different question to divert the issue.

"How are the girls doing? and Sophia" He smiled when I mentioned his family.

"They have been naughty as the days go by and Sophia is also in her fifth month of pregnancy" he answered warmly with his eyes looking directly at me.

I looked through the files to know when we would be living.

"So, Nat, that means, on the appearance of things, we will be leaving in two days". I asked to get the correct information.

"Yes, in two days Xavier" he said, distracted, probably, mind-linking with Sophia.

A knock came from the door again and I knew who it was because of my extremely heightened sense of smell. Amelia walked in wearing a dress that left little to no imagination. What the hell? I heard Zain say in my head. He hates Amelia, who is practically the Pack's whore.

Always wants to enter into people's pants when she gets the opportunity to. Sophia hates her also because she tried hitting on Nat, which caused a fight between the two.

I know she just wants a chance to enter my pants and pin me down with a baby so she can be Luna since I did not have a mate.

"What are you doing here Amelia", I questioned sternly. The moment Nathaniel saw her. His facial expression looked angry at once. She was a gold digger and only chased after men who could provide for her needs.

I also heard she rejected her mate because he was just a common pack member with no rank whatsoever.

She was dressed in a bodycon dress that showed no curves at all since she was practically a stick with her breast spilling out of her dress not to mention how she heavily wore her make-up.

"Oh Xavier", I immediately cut her off at once when she mentioned my name.

good-for-nothing"It's Alpha for you Amelia", I replied sternly, with a laughing Nathaniel by my side.

" What do you want, Amelia," I questioned again because I wanted her out of my office. I had more important things to do than to waste my time on this good for nothing.

"Alpha, I came to ask when you will be leaving for your balls since I would like to come along " she answered, making flirtatious signs with her body which left me unattracted.

"What do you mean you want to join us" I asked. I did not get her. I guess she is dumb.

" You know that only males and females who are not mated can go along with me to those balls to find their mates. And I heard clearly that you had already found your mate but rejected him some months back, so you are not eligible to come along with me to the balls", I answered angrily at her.

She looked lost for words when I talked about her rejecting her mate. How stupid is she? Of course, I am the Alpha, and nothing goes on without me not hearing about it.

"Okay alpha " she said, leaving my office.

"Is she that desperate to lure you into bed, Xavier" Nathaniel said, laughing loudly.

"I guess so", I answered, arranging files on my desk.

--ALYSSA--

I woke up to the sun's rays shining on my face. I remember closing it the night before I went to bed. I guess Grandma opened them this morning. I got up from bed.

My room was average-sized. everything was painted blue. I painted the walls blue. I had a grey bed set, and a window next to my bed. I walked towards my closet.

I opened it and grabbed my underwear and bra and played it on my bed along with my outfit for the day.

I decided to wear a leather skirt and a grey shirt. I grabbed my white towel and made my way to my bathroom. I stripped out of my pyjamas, which was a white cotton tank top with shorts. I got in the shower and washed my hair and body with my favourite lavender body wash.

I got out of the bathtub walked up to the sink and brushed my teeth.

I looked in the mirror and saw my blue eyes staring directly at me. I wondered if I looked like my moon or dad and why they had abandoned me in the woods.

"Don't think about it, girl." my wolf Andrea said, reassuring me.

"We have a grandma. We don't need them" she kept rambling on and on.

"You don't understand, Jess, I wished I had my parents like everyone around me has" I answered, crying.

"I understand you girl, but you don't have to be crying over spilt milk. You have grandma and me. We will protect you as long as we are alive. Keep that in mind", she said, and she was gone.

I walked out and saw Grandma sitting on my bed holding a tray of breakfast.

"Oh, Grandma, you don't have to do this. I could have joined you at the dining table ", I answered worriedly, taking the tray and placing it on the table located in the corner of the room, and went into the closet to dress.

"Oh, dear you know, I love to do this" she answered warmly to me.

"No Grandma, I have told you that you are growing, and I am not a small girl anymore, your Alyssa is now a big girl, so leave most of the household chores to me" I yelled, putting on my bra and underwear in the closet.

I went out of the closet dressed. I went over to the tray in the corner of the room to eat. Grandma was still seated on my bed and, as usual, with Ollie sleeping beside her legs.

These days grandma seems down, and I guess it's from me meeting my mate very soon because I will be turning 16 in two days.

But I have vowed to always be close to Grandma, even if I find my mate because I owe my life and what I have become because of her. I continued to munch on my breakfast, which consisted of sausages, egg, bacon, cheese and toasted bread with my coffee.

I love this combination very much.

I turned my head to look in the direction of my bed where Grandma was seated and noticed she was not there. I guess she left when I was so preoccupied with my meal that I failed to hear her footsteps leave my room.

I was done with my meal. I made my way through the rooms to the stairs and turned into the kitchen. I washed the dishes. I decided to check up on Grandma before I went back to my room to watch a movie.

Her door was left open with her singing while folding her clothes in the wardrobe.

I decided not to disturb her lovely time and made my way back to my room. I grabbed the laptop on my nightstand. Immediately, it turned on the picture of Grandma and I popped up.

I remember using it as my wallpaper two years ago when we visited Grandma's sister in Silverman Pack in Chicago.

Oh, how time flies fast, I tapped on N*****x on my desktop and searched for the series Jane the Virgin.

I cannot seem to get the series out of my mind. I always see a movie called 365 Days after just seeing the trailer. I want to watch it because I do not know much about sex stuff and, from what I know, I was taught in Ed class.

I made a mental note to watch when I am done with the series Jane the Virgin.

Two hours came fast like light of speed. Today is Saturday and I need to do some grocery shopping. I dread going out because I mostly meet Lucas when I go out to shop. I got out of bed and placed my laptop on my nightstand.

"Grandma, I am going grocery shopping", I told her as she was crunched up in bed with Ollie beside her.

"Okay dear, open the wardrobe, I made a list of things we need to buy to save you the hustle of going out again. she answered, gesturing her hand in the direction of the wardrobe.

"Don't stay out long Alyssa", I heard her yell as I closed her door.

I walked to Emily's house because we were both going grocery shopping together. I knocked on the door and it was immediately opened by Mrs. Anderson.

"Dear, come in, Emily will be right down in no time," she said to me as I sat by her on the Sofa.

I now knew why she and Grandma clicked very much. She was also watching the same show Grandma watches every single day. It was a show about cooking, more especially baking.

I am usually accompanied by my Beta, Nathaniel, and my Gamma Jude, along with unmated males and females who look forward to finding their mates. My things have already been packed by my two specific maids assigned only to me. My mother went all out and shopped for new suits for me. I hope she does not get disappointed when I come back with no one, like always. She would always lock herself up in her room for a couple of days.I am the only child of my parents, and what keeps her sad is me not getting an heir in the future to continue the lineage, which will make greedy bastards make conspiracies against me to get me off my throne. ---ALYSSA---My day was basically spent with Emily and Grandma with good wishes from people here and there along the line. Around 1:00 pm, a message was announced around the pack that a pack meeting would be held. We were all curious about what it was because only important events were announced by the pack's alpha directly to us.I was getting ready for the meeting. I walked to the closet and picked up leather pants and a strapless top. I am so full right now that I can barely move my legs. From the amount of food, I ate which was shoved down my throat by grandma and Emily with the excuse, "Today is your birthday Alyssa so you need to eat a lot" I put on my dress and walked to the vanity table.I looked in the mirror and my blue eyes had a sparkle in them, maybe due to me turning 16, which is a big part of everyone's life in the werewolf realm. --XAVIER--It has been a whole week since we left the Bloodmoon pack. We have visited several pack houses, but, still no mate as usual. I sometimes feel I was not gifted one by the moon goddess, but I have to keep going for the sake of my pack and also for my mom.The Shewolves, during the balls, were so clingy, wanting to have a dance with me as soon as one ended with another. I won't blame them. I was quite handsome, with green eyes that always held mischief and a body like that of a Greek god. Some called me Adonis when I was not looking, and I also heard all their fantasies about me, which were so ridiculous and disgusting, which kept Zain growling in my head.Another thing happened in a different ball when a she-wolf who belonged to the moonlight pack, claimed I was her mate but refused to accept her, which created a scene, and she was taken away by the guards.I was so angry at that point that my wolf wanted to surface and kill her at once, but I was held by Nathaniel, who stood

--Alyssa--Looking at myself in the mirror, I was stunned by the transformation that Mrs. Anderson's had made on me. I looked mature—yes, that was the word—but not in a bad way. It was like seeing an older, more refined version of myself, and I had to admit I liked it.Emily, who was getting ready alongside me, was equally impressive. Her makeup highlighted her eyes, and her hair was perfectly styled to complement her gown. She looked like she was about to step onto a red carpet.I have to admit, the makeup is the only thing I'm excited about tonight, I confessed. Despite all the preparation, I couldn't muster any enthusiasm for the ball we were about to attend. It was supposed to be a magical evening, where everyone had the chance to find their mate, but I didn't want to be bound to anyone tonight."Thank you, Mrs. Anderson," I said to her, who was tidying up her kit. She smiled at me and nodded, then gestured toward the doorway."You girls look so pretty!" Grandma exclaimed as she e

--Alyssa--"Make sure you find my mate, or else!" Alpha Xavier's voice boomed through the forest, a menacing echo that sent shivers down my spine. I pressed myself deeper into the carved tree, desperately trying to stifle my sniffles.Even though I knew I was well-hidden, I couldn't shake the fear that they might discover the secret door. The intricate carving might look like just a part of the tree's bark to the untrained eye, but if someone looked closely, they could see the outline of a hidden entrance. I couldn't afford to let them see even the slightest sign that I was here. The guards shuffled through the leaves, their heavy footsteps growing louder as they searched the area. I listened intently, hoping they would move farther away, but they seemed determined to find me. The crackling of twigs and rustling of branches filled the air, adding to my anxiety."What are you going to do now, Xavier?" a male voice asked, breaking the tense silence."I have to find her, Nat," Xavier rep

They are so cute and look just like Xavier,” she cooed, her eyes sparkling with affection.Xavier, however, was lost in thought, his gaze fixed on our babies with an intensity that made me chuckle. He seemed entirely absorbed, as if the world outside didn’t exist. Seeing him so captivated by the sight of our children softened my heart, but I couldn’t shake the nagging guilt that lingered beneath the surface.Everyone in the room seemed unbothered by the events outside, as if the weight of what was happening hadn’t reached them. They were caught up in the joy of the moment, admiring the twins, and it made me feel strangely out of place. I was here, surrounded by warmth and family, while others were grieving just beyond the palace walls. The contrast was hard to ignore, and I knew I had to act soon.“Can we break the curse now?” I asked, my voice cutting through th

“Xavier!” Meridith called out to me, her voice cutting through the quiet murmur of the room. “When is Alyssa coming?” she asked, making everyone turn their attention toward me, waiting expectantly for an answer.“Soon,” I replied, though their faces showed clear disappointment. I knew they missed her, and so did I, but for her safety, I couldn’t do anything reckless. The weight of their expectation hung in the air, but my priority was always her protection. But something gnawed at me. Why would Nathaniel—who always kept me informed of his whereabouts—suddenly go off on an errand without telling me? It wasn’t like him. He always let me know where he was, and this sudden disappearance made me unease.Aurelia’s POVThere was a knock on the door, causing all of us to freeze. Nobody ever knocked on our door, not unexpectedly like this."Did Xavier tell you he was coming?" Mom asked, her eyes filled with concern. I shook my head, feeling a pit form in my stomach. I could hardly believe what was happening. Most of the Alphas had been killed—just in one night—which sent panic rippling throughout the Kingdom. This was not how I envisioned welcoming my mate and pups home. The atmosphere was thick with tension and fear; I knew that those who had plotted against Alyssa and my innocent children were receiving their just desserts.“Have you heard? The Alpha of St. Lucas was reported dead just now,” Nathaniel said, his expression grave. My heart sank as the weight of his words settled in. This was more serious than we had initially thought.“So what are their families doing about it?” I asked, my voice strained with uncertainty. I was in no position to intervene after everything they had done to me.“They are calling for your help,” he replied, a hint of mischief playing on his lips.“Now they want my help when just a few days ago they wanted to kill me?” I laughed, incredulous at their desperation. This was surely the work of the Moon Goddess, a twist

I strode straight into my room, Nathaniel still at my heels, his excitement palpable. I approached my phone, heart racing as I prepared to dial the number I had yearned to call every night and day.Taking a deep breath, I punched in the digits, my fingers trembling slightly with anticipation.“Hello?” I heard my mate’s voice on the other end, and a wave of relief washed over me.“Alyssa,” I breathed, the sound of her name sending a rush of warmth through my veins. “It’s me.”There was a moment of silence before she responded, her tone a mixture of surprise and joy. “Xavier! I can’t believe it’s really you!”Hearing her voice brought back the memories of our moments together—the laughter, the love, the dreams we shared for our future. I closed my eyes, allowing the sound of her voice to wash over me like a soothing balm.“I’ve missed you every day,” I confessed, my heart aching with longing. “I finally stood up to the council. They tried to break me, but they can’t control what I’ve bu

I entered the room, and the atmosphere shifted. As usual, all the Alphas were present, their expressions a mix of curiosity and disdain. I didn’t bother to greet them; instead, I took my seat with an air of defiance, determined to remain unyielding in the face of their scrutiny.“Xavier Black of the Blood Moon Pack, do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth?” Elder Simon asked, his voice authoritative yet tinged with a hint of amusement. I knew he had always been fond of me, and it seemed that sentiment hadn’t waned, even in the face of this farce.“I swear to tell nothing but the truth,” I replied, my tone steady. Before Elder Simon could continue, Elder Samuel shot up from his seat, interrupting the proceedings. I rolled my eyes in exasperation; he always seemed to have a knack for stealing the spotlight from Simon, making it difficult for the process to flow smoothly.“Do you still not know the whereabouts of your mate?” he inquired, his tone sharp.“I passed the tes

--XAVIER POV--It had been two whole months since Aurelia left, and every single day, I felt the urge to break own, to cry, but I knew I couldn’t afford to lose my composure. I had to stay strong, to remain calm if I was going to survive this manipulative game the Alphas were playing. Aurelia had slipped away quietly before anyone noticed. By the time the council arrived, she was already gone, leaving me to face their barrage of questions. I was questioned endlessly, but thanks to the bond with my wolf, I was able to lie convincingly. They didn’t believe me—why would they? But they had no proof, and more importantly, no right to treat me like a prisoner. I had played my part well, and it baffled me how foolish they were to think I would simply tell them the truth. The bond with one’s wolf was sacred in the werewolf realm, and by the decree of the Moongoddess, a wolf could never lie. But mine did. Somehow, I managed to deceive them, and it worked.I couldn’t help but wonder if the Moo

Tears blurred my vision as I glanced at Mom, who stood beside me, her own eyes filled with emotion. She had been so strong throughout it all, but now, seeing her grandchild, her tears flowed freely. Grandma was nearby too, her hands clasped together, a proud smile lighting up her face. The room was filled with so much love, so much joy.But just as I began to think it was over, a sudden, sharp pain shot through me, taking my breath away. I gasped, my body tensing as fear gripped me once more. “Something’s wrong!” I cried out, panic creeping into my voice. The midwife, who had been carefully watching over me, quickly moved to check. Her expression remained calm, and after a moment, she looked up at me with a reassuring smile. “No, Alyssa, nothing’s wrong. You’re having another baby.”Another baby. It had been an entire month since I last heard from Xavier, and the worry gnawed at me constantly. Every day, I cried myself to sleep, the emptiness in my heart growing with each passing hour. I couldn’t help but think about him, about where he was and what he might be going through. But there was one thing that kept me going—the certainty that he was still alive. If he weren’t, I would have felt it deep inside me. That was the one thing mates shared, a connection that transcended distance and time. It was that bond that reassured me, even in the darkest moments, that Xavier was out there somewhere, fighting to return to us.Yet, despite that fragile hope, I was falling apart. In Grandma and Mom’s words, I looked terrible. My skin had paled, and the bags under my eyes were dark and heavy from countless sleepless nights. --Alyssa--We were watching a movie, a popular request from Grandma, but my mind kept wandering back to Mom and what could have possibly happened. I couldn't shake the worry that gnawed at the edges of my thoughts, despite trying to focus on the screen in front of me. Something didn’t feel right, and I could tell that both Grandma and I were distracted.“There’s a knock, Grandma,” I said softly, even though it had been faint. My ears had picked it up nonetheless. Grandma didn't seem to notice at first, but then came another knock, louder this time, clear enough to be undeniable.“I’ll check it,” she said, motioning for me to stay seated.
