We will be leaving tomorrow to attend the ball. I am usually accompanied by my Beta, Nathaniel, and my Gamma Jude, along with unmated males and females who look forward to finding their mates. But this year, Jude will not be able to make it since he is not well.
One thing that makes my pack different from others is that my Omegas, which are the lowest range in a pack, are also given the chance to come along to the balls to also search for their mates in other packs. My things have already been packed by my two specific maids assigned only to me.
My mother went all out and shopped for new suits for me. I hope she does not get disappointed when I come back with no one, like always. She would always lock herself up in her room for a couple of days.
I am the only child of my parents, and what keeps her sad is me not getting an heir in the future to continue the lineage, which will make greedy bastards make conspiracies against me to get me off my throne. I was interrupted by the presence of Nathaniel.
"Alpha, those that won the competition have arrived," he said.
" Oh yes, I almost forgot they would be arriving today. Please make them wait in my office. I will be right there," I answered, quickly putting my bottle of rum on the table.
Every year, my pack organises competitions as a means for people to move to the pack house as members if they want to. You can only stay here if your mate belongs to my pack or through the competition. My pack house has been developed technology-wise with more advanced systems.
I went out of the balcony. Whenever I stood there facing the green forest, it calmed me down. I walked through the halls to get to my office and was greeted by people who did not dare look directly into my eyes, because if one does, that is a sign of disrespect to the Alpha.
I entered my office and came face-to-face with two werewolves, one probably in his early twenties and the other in her late teens.
"Hello, I am Alpha Xavier. I guess you have already heard about me", I introduced myself as they stood on their feet. A response of yes came from them both, by which I could smell their fear in the air.
"Okay, so you will each be assigned a house and the basic necessities you will need by the welcoming team of the pack and also be shown around by the same welcoming team to know your whereabouts" I rambled to them.
No one dared to interrupt me as I spoke.
"Behind you is the Beta of the Bloodmoon pack. He goes by the name Beta Nathaniel". They turned their heads to look at Nathaniel, who stood in the corner of the room with a straight face.
"Beta, when is the welcoming team meeting them", I asked him warmly, gesturing with my hands to the new pack members to take a seat as I handed them a file.
"Any moment from now, Alpha Xavier," he answered, with respect which made me nod my head in approval.
"These are the rules and regulations of the Bloodmoon pack, please go through and also sign where it is required to do so" I muttered, and they immediately began with my instructions.
I bet they were scared from all the rumors they have heard about me in their packs, which most are false, but I love it when they believe them, so no one will dare go against me.
The welcoming team of the pack came the instant I explained to them what they had to do. I took their hands and pricked a finger.
"Repeat what I say. I, Simon Peters, denounce my link with my formal Pack and do accept to be a new member of the Bloodmoon Pack" after he repeated the link with his old pack was broken and a new one formed with the Blood moon Pack.
I did the same with the girl. A moon-shaped drawing appeared on their shoulders immediately they rejected their previous pack. They left my office after that. Since morning, Zain has been making noises in my head, muttering mate once in a while, which made me block him.
I had to shut him off or else I would be grumpy for the rest of the day, which would affect people who come in my way. I was the only one left in my office in a comfortable silence with the sounds of growling coming from the forest. It has been a while since I went for a run in the forest . When I am done with my work in the office, I will go for a run to release stress for the journey ahead of me.
For the next two hours, I did my Alpha duties peacefully undisturbed. The moment I was on the verge of shifting to go for a run, a knock came from the door. My mom, the previous Luna, entered along with my dad.
" Hi dad, hi mom", I greeted them by hugging them both.
"Hi Xavier" they muttered.
" Your mom said we should come and see you before you leave tomorrow" dad said, taking a seat on the chair while mom stood by him.
"Oh mom, you could have asked for my presence. I would have been there and why, will I forget to come see you before I leave", I said, hugging her as dad kept muttering, I told her my son.
" Don't worry dear, I am already here. I just wanted to see you before you leave in the morning since I will be asleep by then" she answered.
" Yes, you will be asleep then" I agreed.
"You see," she muttered, looking at Dad.
"Dear, take care of yourself when you leave and I also wish you good luck on finding your mate" she stated, rubbing my shoulder like a mother does to a young pup.

I was awakened by grandma and Emily. "Emily, what are you doing here", I asked her.
" Grandma, I want to sleep" I said grumpily.
"Oh, silly girl, it is your birthday today" she said.
"Fuck, I now get it why Emily is here at this ungodly hour of the night. I turned to look at the clock on the nightstand and it read exactly 12am. Grandma and Emily began to sing Happy birthday. I instantly became teary and surprised by their act.
"'Blow the candles Alyssa", grandma instructed me. I got off the bed in my silk tank top and shorts and blew the candles on the cake.
" Alyssa, you are now a big girl, but you will still continue to be my little baby girl", grandma said, looking directly into my eyes.
I hugged her immediately; those words left her mouth as tears snaked down my face.
"I love you, grandma, I said, still hugging her.
" I know dear, I know, and I also do love you too. Don't forget that ever" this caused more tears to snake down my face.
"Emily, thank you for being here" I said, hugging her too.
Even Ollie, my rival, was there also, as usual, beside grandma's legs. Grandma left to her room to rest. Emily and I stayed up all night reminiscing about the past.
" Emily, how did you and grandma bring up this plan without me not knowing?" I asked curiously.
" Oh, Grandma Dorothy came to my house because she said if I meet her here you will get to know about it " she answered.
" I now get it. She told me she was going to visit your mom, so she lied" I said, laughing.
" Yes, she did, we baked the cake at my place and, viola, you know the rest" she said excitedly like a child.
" Alyssa, that means, since you turned 16 before me, you will probably meet your mate before I do " she said, happily grinning from ear to ear.
It instantly dawned on me. Fuck, how could I have forgotten about this?
" Alyssa, why are you worried about meeting your mate" the same old annoying Jess said in my head.
" Jess, you always just pop out of the blue uninvited as always" I said through mindlink, rolling my eyes.
" But you cannot deny the fact that you do miss me right" she said, laughing loudly.
" Jess, it is not funny, and your laugh scares the hell out of me", I told her.
" Okay, that is enough with all this, happy birthday Alyssa". She wished me.
" Thank you, Jess,", I answered her through mindlink.
" But this time around grandma and Emily beat me to it" she said shockingly.
Yeah, that is true. Jess is the one to wish me first every time on my birthday.
" Yeah, they sure beat you to it this time" I said, laughing.
I turned to look at the left side of my bed and Emily was already asleep like a log. I guess she is tired.
" I won't keep you up any longer, take your rest", Jess said to me.
" Okay, bye "I said to her, and she was gone.
---ALYSSA---My day was basically spent with Emily and Grandma with good wishes from people here and there along the line. Around 1:00 pm, a message was announced around the pack that a pack meeting would be held. We were all curious about what it was because only important events were announced by the pack's alpha directly to us.I was getting ready for the meeting. I walked to the closet and picked up leather pants and a strapless top. I am so full right now that I can barely move my legs. From the amount of food, I ate which was shoved down my throat by grandma and Emily with the excuse, "Today is your birthday Alyssa so you need to eat a lot" I put on my dress and walked to the vanity table.I looked in the mirror and my blue eyes had a sparkle in them, maybe due to me turning 16, which is a big part of everyone's life in the werewolf realm. Practically, that's where your life starts. My cheeks looked chubbier. Why won't it? From all the food grandma has been shoving down my throa
--XAVIER--It has been a whole week since we left the Bloodmoon pack. We have visited several pack houses, but, still no mate as usual. I sometimes feel I was not gifted one by the moon goddess, but I have to keep going for the sake of my pack and also for my mom.The Shewolves, during the balls, were so clingy, wanting to have a dance with me as soon as one ended with another. I won't blame them. I was quite handsome, with green eyes that always held mischief and a body like that of a Greek god. Some called me Adonis when I was not looking, and I also heard all their fantasies about me, which were so ridiculous and disgusting, which kept Zain growling in my head.Another thing happened in a different ball when a she-wolf who belonged to the moonlight pack, claimed I was her mate but refused to accept her, which created a scene, and she was taken away by the guards.I was so angry at that point that my wolf wanted to surface and kill her at once, but I was held by Nathaniel, who stood
--Alyssa--Looking at myself in the mirror, I was stunned by the transformation that Mrs. Anderson's had made on me. I looked mature—yes, that was the word—but not in a bad way. It was like seeing an older, more refined version of myself, and I had to admit I liked it.Emily, who was getting ready alongside me, was equally impressive. Her makeup highlighted her eyes, and her hair was perfectly styled to complement her gown. She looked like she was about to step onto a red carpet.I have to admit, the makeup is the only thing I'm excited about tonight, I confessed. Despite all the preparation, I couldn't muster any enthusiasm for the ball we were about to attend. It was supposed to be a magical evening, where everyone had the chance to find their mate, but I didn't want to be bound to anyone tonight."Thank you, Mrs. Anderson," I said to her, who was tidying up her kit. She smiled at me and nodded, then gestured toward the doorway."You girls look so pretty!" Grandma exclaimed as she e
--Alyssa--He was getting nearer and nearer, and I could see every detail of his grim expression. This was real, and I had to get out of here. Now.I glanced at the door, wide open, almost inviting me to make a run for it. But I knew better than to flee through the front—he'd catch me in an instant. He was Alpha Xavier, the alpha king of all werewolves. Known for his ferocity and merciless tactics, he was someone to avoid at all costs. My heart raced as he approached. His steps were steady, calculated. There was no emotion on his face, just cold determination. I couldn't let him reach me. I had to act, but how?Using my werewolf speed, I shot towards the door like lightning, my mind racing with the urgency of escape. His voice, like thunder, echoed through the room, "Get her!" he roared, barking orders to his guards. But they couldn't catch me. I was a white wolf, and my speed was unparalleled. I knew that heading to my grandma's house wasn't an option—she'd try to protect me, and tha
--Alyssa--"Make sure you find my mate, or else!" Alpha Xavier's voice boomed through the forest, a menacing echo that sent shivers down my spine. I pressed myself deeper into the carved tree, desperately trying to stifle my sniffles.Even though I knew I was well-hidden, I couldn't shake the fear that they might discover the secret door. The intricate carving might look like just a part of the tree's bark to the untrained eye, but if someone looked closely, they could see the outline of a hidden entrance. I couldn't afford to let them see even the slightest sign that I was here. The guards shuffled through the leaves, their heavy footsteps growing louder as they searched the area. I listened intently, hoping they would move farther away, but they seemed determined to find me. The crackling of twigs and rustling of branches filled the air, adding to my anxiety."What are you going to do now, Xavier?" a male voice asked, breaking the tense silence."I have to find her, Nat," Xavier rep
--Xavier--Back in the Packhouse, the tension was palpable. It had been five whole hours since Alyssa, my mate, had run away, and my anger was growing by the minute. My blood boiled with each passing second, and every glance at my watch felt like a ticking time bomb. I was Alpha Xavier, ruler of the pack, and it felt like the entire world was falling apart just because my mate had vanished.Alpha Kane, the Alpha of this Pack, informed me that Alyssa lived with her grandmother, who was on her way to the Packhouse.Everyone had gone home by now, their festive spirits dampened by the chaos that followed Alyssa's disappearance. My mother, the one person who had been more eager than I was to find my mate, was arriving shortly. She had always been obsessed with me finding my mate, convinced it was the key to my happiness. Now, she'd be upset by the turn of events, fearing that my mate might reject me. She couldn’t.The guards continued to scour the woods, searching tirelessly, knowing full
--Alyssa--It had been two days now, and my hunger was gnawing at me like a wild animal. I heard the sounds of people nearby yesterday, but today there was nothing—just the eerie silence that pressed in from all sides. My stomach rumbled, a constant reminder that I needed food, and soon. But I was still scared to leave the safety of the small cabin where I was hiding in the tree. What if the people who came yesterday were still around, lying in wait? What if they were searching for me? It was a risk, and I was exhausted from hiding and running, but I knew I had to make a move. It was now evening, and the approaching darkness gave me a bit of courage. It might be easier to stay hidden in the shadows.I sniffed the air, checking for any scent that might indicate someone was nearby. Nothing. Just the scent of the forest—the damp earth, the distant smell of pine, and the faint scent of a nearby stream.I opened the door cautiously, peering outside to make sure no one was around. The coast
--Alyssa--Another two whole days had passed, and everything felt quiet. The last tuna I had found was eaten, and I was getting thirsty. I hadn't heard the sound of footsteps since I went out two days ago. That silence made me brave, though it could have been a false sense of security.Stepping outside to drink water and maybe hunt a little. The forest seemed clear, with the trees casting long shadows across the ground. I stepped out, wearing the old pants and shirt I found in the abandoned wardrobe. My clothes hung loose on me; they were not mine, but they did the job.I was so tired that I could hardly sleep. A million thoughts raced through my mind, each one competing for attention. The uncertainty of my next move, the constant fear of being found—it all kept me on edge.I walked to the stream, letting the soft rustling of leaves and the distant calls of birds ease my nerves. The sound of the flowing water calmed me, and for a moment, I felt a small measure of peace. After drinking
--Alyssa--Meridith couldn’t stop smiling as she leaned closer to get a better look at the twins nestled in my arms. “Pups? They are so cute and look just like Xavier,” she cooed, her eyes sparkling with affection.Xavier, however, was lost in thought, his gaze fixed on our babies with an intensity that made me chuckle. He seemed entirely absorbed, as if the world outside didn’t exist. Seeing him so captivated by the sight of our children softened my heart, but I couldn’t shake the nagging guilt that lingered beneath the surface.Everyone in the room seemed unbothered by the events outside, as if the weight of what was happening hadn’t reached them. They were caught up in the joy of the moment, admiring the twins, and it made me feel strangely out of place. I was here, surrounded by warmth and family, while others were grieving just beyond the palace walls. The contrast was hard to ignore, and I knew I had to act soon.“Can we break the curse now?” I asked, my voice cutting through th
“Xavier!” Meridith called out to me, her voice cutting through the quiet murmur of the room. “When is Alyssa coming?” she asked, making everyone turn their attention toward me, waiting expectantly for an answer.“Soon,” I replied, though their faces showed clear disappointment. I knew they missed her, and so did I, but for her safety, I couldn’t do anything reckless. The weight of their expectation hung in the air, but my priority was always her protection. But something gnawed at me. Why would Nathaniel—who always kept me informed of his whereabouts—suddenly go off on an errand without telling me? It wasn’t like him. He always let me know where he was, and this sudden disappearance made me unease.Aurelia’s POVThere was a knock on the door, causing all of us to freeze. Nobody ever knocked on our door, not unexpectedly like this."Did Xavier tell you he was coming?" Mom asked, her eyes filled with concern. I shook my head, feeling a pit form in my stomach. We were supposed to leave
I could hardly believe what was happening. Most of the Alphas had been killed—just in one night—which sent panic rippling throughout the Kingdom. This was not how I envisioned welcoming my mate and pups home. The atmosphere was thick with tension and fear; I knew that those who had plotted against Alyssa and my innocent children were receiving their just desserts.“Have you heard? The Alpha of St. Lucas was reported dead just now,” Nathaniel said, his expression grave. My heart sank as the weight of his words settled in. This was more serious than we had initially thought.“So what are their families doing about it?” I asked, my voice strained with uncertainty. I was in no position to intervene after everything they had done to me.“They are calling for your help,” he replied, a hint of mischief playing on his lips.“Now they want my help when just a few days ago they wanted to kill me?” I laughed, incredulous at their desperation. This was surely the work of the Moon Goddess, a twist
I strode straight into my room, Nathaniel still at my heels, his excitement palpable. I approached my phone, heart racing as I prepared to dial the number I had yearned to call every night and day.Taking a deep breath, I punched in the digits, my fingers trembling slightly with anticipation.“Hello?” I heard my mate’s voice on the other end, and a wave of relief washed over me.“Alyssa,” I breathed, the sound of her name sending a rush of warmth through my veins. “It’s me.”There was a moment of silence before she responded, her tone a mixture of surprise and joy. “Xavier! I can’t believe it’s really you!”Hearing her voice brought back the memories of our moments together—the laughter, the love, the dreams we shared for our future. I closed my eyes, allowing the sound of her voice to wash over me like a soothing balm.“I’ve missed you every day,” I confessed, my heart aching with longing. “I finally stood up to the council. They tried to break me, but they can’t control what I’ve bu
I entered the room, and the atmosphere shifted. As usual, all the Alphas were present, their expressions a mix of curiosity and disdain. I didn’t bother to greet them; instead, I took my seat with an air of defiance, determined to remain unyielding in the face of their scrutiny.“Xavier Black of the Blood Moon Pack, do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth?” Elder Simon asked, his voice authoritative yet tinged with a hint of amusement. I knew he had always been fond of me, and it seemed that sentiment hadn’t waned, even in the face of this farce.“I swear to tell nothing but the truth,” I replied, my tone steady. Before Elder Simon could continue, Elder Samuel shot up from his seat, interrupting the proceedings. I rolled my eyes in exasperation; he always seemed to have a knack for stealing the spotlight from Simon, making it difficult for the process to flow smoothly.“Do you still not know the whereabouts of your mate?” he inquired, his tone sharp.“I passed the tes
--XAVIER POV--It had been two whole months since Aurelia left, and every single day, I felt the urge to break own, to cry, but I knew I couldn’t afford to lose my composure. I had to stay strong, to remain calm if I was going to survive this manipulative game the Alphas were playing. Aurelia had slipped away quietly before anyone noticed. By the time the council arrived, she was already gone, leaving me to face their barrage of questions. I was questioned endlessly, but thanks to the bond with my wolf, I was able to lie convincingly. They didn’t believe me—why would they? But they had no proof, and more importantly, no right to treat me like a prisoner. I had played my part well, and it baffled me how foolish they were to think I would simply tell them the truth. The bond with one’s wolf was sacred in the werewolf realm, and by the decree of the Moongoddess, a wolf could never lie. But mine did. Somehow, I managed to deceive them, and it worked.I couldn’t help but wonder if the Moo
Tears blurred my vision as I glanced at Mom, who stood beside me, her own eyes filled with emotion. She had been so strong throughout it all, but now, seeing her grandchild, her tears flowed freely. Grandma was nearby too, her hands clasped together, a proud smile lighting up her face. The room was filled with so much love, so much joy.But just as I began to think it was over, a sudden, sharp pain shot through me, taking my breath away. I gasped, my body tensing as fear gripped me once more. “Something’s wrong!” I cried out, panic creeping into my voice. The midwife, who had been carefully watching over me, quickly moved to check. Her expression remained calm, and after a moment, she looked up at me with a reassuring smile. “No, Alyssa, nothing’s wrong. You’re having another baby.”Another baby. The words took a moment to register in my exhausted mind. Another baby? My heart raced as the realization dawned on me. Twins. I was having twins. The pain came back in waves, and I gripped t
It had been an entire month since I last heard from Xavier, and the worry gnawed at me constantly. Every day, I cried myself to sleep, the emptiness in my heart growing with each passing hour. I couldn’t help but think about him, about where he was and what he might be going through. But there was one thing that kept me going—the certainty that he was still alive. If he weren’t, I would have felt it deep inside me. That was the one thing mates shared, a connection that transcended distance and time. It was that bond that reassured me, even in the darkest moments, that Xavier was out there somewhere, fighting to return to us.Yet, despite that fragile hope, I was falling apart. In Grandma and Mom’s words, I looked terrible. My skin had paled, and the bags under my eyes were dark and heavy from countless sleepless nights. My clothes barely fit, and I’d stopped caring about my appearance long ago. The weight of uncertainty was crushing. As much as I tried to stay positive, the constant
--Alyssa--We were watching a movie, a popular request from Grandma, but my mind kept wandering back to Mom and what could have possibly happened. I couldn't shake the worry that gnawed at the edges of my thoughts, despite trying to focus on the screen in front of me. Something didn’t feel right, and I could tell that both Grandma and I were distracted.“There’s a knock, Grandma,” I said softly, even though it had been faint. My ears had picked it up nonetheless. Grandma didn't seem to notice at first, but then came another knock, louder this time, clear enough to be undeniable.“I’ll check it,” she said, motioning for me to stay seated. She rose slowly from her chair and made her way to the door, her steps deliberate, as if she, too, felt a shift in the air.A moment later, I heard her say, “Elizabeth.”The sound of that name startled me to my feet before my brain could even register what was happening. Mom. She was here. “Mom?” I called out, my voice filled with both relief and conf
