---ALYSSA---
My day was basically spent with Emily and Grandma with good wishes from people here and there along the line. Around 1:00 pm, a message was announced around the pack that a pack meeting would be held. We were all curious about what it was because only important events were announced by the pack's alpha directly to us.
I was getting ready for the meeting. I walked to the closet and picked up leather pants and a strapless top. I am so full right now that I can barely move my legs. From the amount of food, I ate which was shoved down my throat by grandma and Emily with the excuse, "Today is your birthday Alyssa so you need to eat a lot" I put on my dress and walked to the vanity table.
I looked in the mirror and my blue eyes had a sparkle in them, maybe due to me turning 16, which is a big part of everyone's life in the werewolf realm. Practically, that's where your life starts.
My cheeks looked chubbier. Why won't it? From all the food grandma has been shoving down my throat, for instance, like Ollie, he hardly walks around because he is too huge.
I'm sure within a month Emily will gain a few more pounds. I combed my hair and tied it up in a bun.
"Alyssa, what at all are you doing? Hurry up and get here", grandma yelled from the hall.
Oh, fuck, I almost forgot" I am coming Grandma", I yelled.
I picked up my bag along with my phone and walked down the stairs.
"Let's go, Hun "Grandma said. Ollie began to bark. I guess he noticed we were leaving him at home.
"Don't worry, Ollie. I'll be right back" Grandma said, patting his head, which made me roll my eyes.
I locked the door on my way out and placed the key in my bag. The pack was surrounded by forests, which made it hard for humans to find, because they think which normal living being lives in a forest away from the good things life in the city has to offer?
I was appreciating the view when I felt a tap from behind. I turned, and it was Emily with her parents also on their way to their pack meeting.
"How are you doing, dear?" Emily's mom and dad asked me." I am fine Mr. and Mrs. Anderson", I answered back.
Emily looked exactly like her mom from the brunette hair to the shape of their nose. I almost forgot to tell you Emily has a brother called Michael, who was two years older than us.
"Hi, Michael", I greeted him.
"Hi Alyssa, it's been a while" he muttered.
"Yes, it has "I replied shortly.
Grandma immediately began speaking to Alyssa's parents, and as usual, Michael went back to listening to his music.
"Do you know what the meeting is about?" Emily asked me, munching on a cookie.
"I have no idea, Emily "I said to her as we walked through various cottages to the Pack house.
In my Pack this is how it works. If you don't want to live in a pack house, you will be given a cottage to live in, but living in a pack house comes with a lot of benefits. For instance, breakfast, lunch and supper will be prepared by the maids working there, so you do not need to lift a finger to do anything unless you want a treat personally.
Everything is done together there as long as you live there. I had always wanted to experience that, but grandma said no. I used to go there when I was young but stopped when Lucas began to make advances towards me. I got there and the crowd was enormous as always when we have a pack meeting.
The bricking came down when Alpha Kane and Luna Grace came into view, to show a sign of respect with Lucas standing behind them.
" You are all probably confused about what the meeting is about since it was called on short notice. Alpha Kane has always been a man of humor, which makes people feel at ease when around him. He stretched out his hand to take a paper from his Beta.
" Okay, a letter came in today from the royal kingdom, the blood moon pack ". Immediately he said that the atmosphere became stiff. He noticed it too and began to laugh, that's the typical alpha Kane we have there.
I just heard behind me a young pup says, what if we are about to be killed?" which made me laugh. Why will the king of all alphas destroy a pack? I don't blame the young pup because of all the tales we have been hearing about that alpha Xavier.
" No need to panic my pack members, I am about to read the letter which came just two hours ago" he said.
" I read, dear pack members of Riverdale pack as usual, the annual ball which is always organized every year, is about to commence and I state it is compulsory for every unmated female and male to be present on that day and only the ages of 16 and above can be present and I state again only unmated werewolves. Failure to attend when you are within the age eligible will receive punishment by the alpha king himself, king Xavier. I know you are all shocked as to why a letter just this year was sent to the pack because it came to our notice that people have been avoiding going to the ball. Please do well to attend the ball this year in your gowns,
The Royal Kingdom,
Alpha Xavier.
Noises began to emerge when alpha Kane immediately finished reading the letter.
"Silence" he said, using his alpha command.
" I have no other choice but, as a leader of the pack to adhere to the message from my superior. You heard the message from my superior in the letter. No one should exempt him or herself when you are unmated and also at the age requirement", he said loud and clear on the stage.
" So please adhere to these instructions from the alpha king himself. You can now go to your various abodes. The meeting has ended" and he and his mate were out of the premises.
I saw a lot of girls happily giggling around with their friends and others not so happy, probably not wanting to leave their parents when their mates are from another pack just like me. I saw myself in them.
" Emily, when will you turn 16?" I asked because I had forgotten.
" In two days', time", she said nonchantly."
The ball was on the twentieth of this month. This means the ball was in a week and Emily, too, will probably find her mate then. Wow. It just felt like yesterday when grandma used to drop me off at school. I could feel my life was about to take a drastic turn.
The name alpha Xavier brought chills down my spine anytime I heard his name. Some of the girls in my pack have been fantasizing about being his mate, but at the end of the ball, they get disappointed. This has been happening way back when the ball started about a decade ago.
I feel bad for them whenever they get home at the end of the ball wailing their eyes out. Lucy, a girl who lives three cottages away, grew up with the obsession of Xavier being her mate.
" Alyssa, let's go " grandma said. That was when I noticed I was daydreaming.
" Where are Emily and her parents," I muttered, looking around.
" They left saying they were going to get some stuff from town for home" she answered, taking her steps to the direction of our home.
" Okay" I replied and followed behind her.
I opened the doors since I had the keys with me. Ollie immediately began to bark around when I opened the door and went in the direction of grandma as always. I wonder if this dog has a thing against me sometimes because he only regards grandma and behaves as if I am invincible to him. Ugh! Grandma sat on the sofa with Ollie beside her.
" Dear, hand me the remote please" she asked warmly, looking in the direction of the remote on the table.
I walked to it and gave it to her. She kept searching the channels for her favorite series, the baking rush, which was about to start in a couple of minutes.
"Dear, when will you go shopping for your gown for the ball" grandma asked, still searching the channels while I bent over the sofa lazily.
" Maybe, tomorrow with Emily, I will ask her and give you a response", I answered shortly.
I really did not want to go for the ball. I would not have gone if not for the punishment which came along with it. Fuck them, why do they have to be so smart?
I saw grandma looking at me when I raised my head. I guess she realized what I was thinking.
"You, Alyssa, are going for that ball whether you like it or not" she said sternly, like how she used to do when I was a child. This moment brought back great memories.
"But I did not say I am not going, grandma."
"I know you, Alyssa, like the back of my palm" she muttered.
" Oh grandma ", which made me laugh loudly.
" So, when you are ready tell me "She said.
" Oh, I almost forgot to give you this", she opened her bag and took a bank card and a necklace.
" Take this, it is a little something from me to you and this necklace. When I found you in the woods, it was around your neck, but I decided to give it to you once you turn 16, so it won't go missing", she said, handling the necklace to me.
The necklace looked so beautiful. It was made of diamonds. The pendant on the necklace was love shaped with the name Alyssa written behind it.
" I decided to name you Alyssa because I am definitely sure your parents wanted those who found you to name you Alyssa, that is why they left the necklace on your neck" she said, sitting on the chair. I got up and hugged her as tears snaked down my face.
" Thank you, grandma, you are the best I could ever wish for" I said to her, still in her embrace. We remained like that for almost two minutes.
" Welcome dear" she said, wiping my face with her handkerchief.
Ollie began to bark, probably jealous about me getting all the attention." You know I love you Ollie, why do you need to be a jealous boy" she said, hugging him,
" Grandma Ollie is so jealous of me" I said.
" No, he is not" she disagreed.
" Yes, he is you said that a few seconds ago".
" Okay, that's enough, my show is about to begin " she said, looking at the screen.
I turned and began to admire the necklace, which looked so simple but elegant at the same time.
It felt like it held something about me, but I did not know what it was. I took the bank card and looked at it, which held my name Alyssa Johnson on it. I was so grateful to the moon goddess for blessing me with another person when my parents did not want me anymore. I clasped the necklace on my neck and placed the card in my bag.
--XAVIER--It has been a whole week since we left the Bloodmoon pack. We have visited several pack houses, but, still no mate as usual. I sometimes feel I was not gifted one by the moon goddess, but I have to keep going for the sake of my pack and also for my mom.The Shewolves, during the balls, were so clingy, wanting to have a dance with me as soon as one ended with another. I won't blame them. I was quite handsome, with green eyes that always held mischief and a body like that of a Greek god. Some called me Adonis when I was not looking, and I also heard all their fantasies about me, which were so ridiculous and disgusting, which kept Zain growling in my head.Another thing happened in a different ball when a she-wolf who belonged to the moonlight pack, claimed I was her mate but refused to accept her, which created a scene, and she was taken away by the guards.I was so angry at that point that my wolf wanted to surface and kill her at once, but I was held by Nathaniel, who stood
--Alyssa--Looking at myself in the mirror, I was stunned by the transformation that Mrs. Anderson's had made on me. I looked mature—yes, that was the word—but not in a bad way. It was like seeing an older, more refined version of myself, and I had to admit I liked it.Emily, who was getting ready alongside me, was equally impressive. Her makeup highlighted her eyes, and her hair was perfectly styled to complement her gown. She looked like she was about to step onto a red carpet.I have to admit, the makeup is the only thing I'm excited about tonight, I confessed. Despite all the preparation, I couldn't muster any enthusiasm for the ball we were about to attend. It was supposed to be a magical evening, where everyone had the chance to find their mate, but I didn't want to be bound to anyone tonight."Thank you, Mrs. Anderson," I said to her, who was tidying up her kit. She smiled at me and nodded, then gestured toward the doorway."You girls look so pretty!" Grandma exclaimed as she e
--Alyssa--He was getting nearer and nearer, and I could see every detail of his grim expression. This was real, and I had to get out of here. Now.I glanced at the door, wide open, almost inviting me to make a run for it. But I knew better than to flee through the front—he'd catch me in an instant. He was Alpha Xavier, the alpha king of all werewolves. Known for his ferocity and merciless tactics, he was someone to avoid at all costs. My heart raced as he approached. His steps were steady, calculated. There was no emotion on his face, just cold determination. I couldn't let him reach me. I had to act, but how?Using my werewolf speed, I shot towards the door like lightning, my mind racing with the urgency of escape. His voice, like thunder, echoed through the room, "Get her!" he roared, barking orders to his guards. But they couldn't catch me. I was a white wolf, and my speed was unparalleled. I knew that heading to my grandma's house wasn't an option—she'd try to protect me, and tha
--Alyssa--"Make sure you find my mate, or else!" Alpha Xavier's voice boomed through the forest, a menacing echo that sent shivers down my spine. I pressed myself deeper into the carved tree, desperately trying to stifle my sniffles.Even though I knew I was well-hidden, I couldn't shake the fear that they might discover the secret door. The intricate carving might look like just a part of the tree's bark to the untrained eye, but if someone looked closely, they could see the outline of a hidden entrance. I couldn't afford to let them see even the slightest sign that I was here. The guards shuffled through the leaves, their heavy footsteps growing louder as they searched the area. I listened intently, hoping they would move farther away, but they seemed determined to find me. The crackling of twigs and rustling of branches filled the air, adding to my anxiety."What are you going to do now, Xavier?" a male voice asked, breaking the tense silence."I have to find her, Nat," Xavier rep
--Xavier--Back in the Packhouse, the tension was palpable. It had been five whole hours since Alyssa, my mate, had run away, and my anger was growing by the minute. My blood boiled with each passing second, and every glance at my watch felt like a ticking time bomb. I was Alpha Xavier, ruler of the pack, and it felt like the entire world was falling apart just because my mate had vanished.Alpha Kane, the Alpha of this Pack, informed me that Alyssa lived with her grandmother, who was on her way to the Packhouse.Everyone had gone home by now, their festive spirits dampened by the chaos that followed Alyssa's disappearance. My mother, the one person who had been more eager than I was to find my mate, was arriving shortly. She had always been obsessed with me finding my mate, convinced it was the key to my happiness. Now, she'd be upset by the turn of events, fearing that my mate might reject me. She couldn’t.The guards continued to scour the woods, searching tirelessly, knowing full
--Alyssa--It had been two days now, and my hunger was gnawing at me like a wild animal. I heard the sounds of people nearby yesterday, but today there was nothing—just the eerie silence that pressed in from all sides. My stomach rumbled, a constant reminder that I needed food, and soon. But I was still scared to leave the safety of the small cabin where I was hiding in the tree. What if the people who came yesterday were still around, lying in wait? What if they were searching for me? It was a risk, and I was exhausted from hiding and running, but I knew I had to make a move. It was now evening, and the approaching darkness gave me a bit of courage. It might be easier to stay hidden in the shadows.I sniffed the air, checking for any scent that might indicate someone was nearby. Nothing. Just the scent of the forest—the damp earth, the distant smell of pine, and the faint scent of a nearby stream.I opened the door cautiously, peering outside to make sure no one was around. The coast
--Alyssa--Another two whole days had passed, and everything felt quiet. The last tuna I had found was eaten, and I was getting thirsty. I hadn't heard the sound of footsteps since I went out two days ago. That silence made me brave, though it could have been a false sense of security.Stepping outside to drink water and maybe hunt a little. The forest seemed clear, with the trees casting long shadows across the ground. I stepped out, wearing the old pants and shirt I found in the abandoned wardrobe. My clothes hung loose on me; they were not mine, but they did the job.I was so tired that I could hardly sleep. A million thoughts raced through my mind, each one competing for attention. The uncertainty of my next move, the constant fear of being found—it all kept me on edge.I walked to the stream, letting the soft rustling of leaves and the distant calls of birds ease my nerves. The sound of the flowing water calmed me, and for a moment, I felt a small measure of peace. After drinking
--Alyssa--As I opened my eyes, I found myself in a room I didn't recognize. Panic surged through me, my heart racing as I tried to remember what had happened. The Alpha King, his pack—everything came rushing back in fragmented flashbacks.Tears pooled in my eyes, and I was on my feet in an instant. I glanced out the window and saw people moving about their day as if nothing had happened. I was in the pack house, high up on the second floor. It felt surreal, knowing that I was trapped here while life continued outside."Grandma," I whispered to myself. The thought of her was my anchor, a reminder of everything I had lost and everything I still needed to fight for.I was still wearing the same clothes I'd worn before the Alpha King had captured me. I had to escape, no matter what. I opened the door slowly, my eyes scanning the corridor for any sign of movement. It was empty, eerily silent. I didn't have much time.I peered down the hallway, gauging the distance to the elevator. My legs
--Alyssa--Meridith couldn’t stop smiling as she leaned closer to get a better look at the twins nestled in my arms. “Pups? They are so cute and look just like Xavier,” she cooed, her eyes sparkling with affection.Xavier, however, was lost in thought, his gaze fixed on our babies with an intensity that made me chuckle. He seemed entirely absorbed, as if the world outside didn’t exist. Seeing him so captivated by the sight of our children softened my heart, but I couldn’t shake the nagging guilt that lingered beneath the surface.Everyone in the room seemed unbothered by the events outside, as if the weight of what was happening hadn’t reached them. They were caught up in the joy of the moment, admiring the twins, and it made me feel strangely out of place. I was here, surrounded by warmth and family, while others were grieving just beyond the palace walls. The contrast was hard to ignore, and I knew I had to act soon.“Can we break the curse now?” I asked, my voice cutting through th
“Xavier!” Meridith called out to me, her voice cutting through the quiet murmur of the room. “When is Alyssa coming?” she asked, making everyone turn their attention toward me, waiting expectantly for an answer.“Soon,” I replied, though their faces showed clear disappointment. I knew they missed her, and so did I, but for her safety, I couldn’t do anything reckless. The weight of their expectation hung in the air, but my priority was always her protection. But something gnawed at me. Why would Nathaniel—who always kept me informed of his whereabouts—suddenly go off on an errand without telling me? It wasn’t like him. He always let me know where he was, and this sudden disappearance made me unease.Aurelia’s POVThere was a knock on the door, causing all of us to freeze. Nobody ever knocked on our door, not unexpectedly like this."Did Xavier tell you he was coming?" Mom asked, her eyes filled with concern. I shook my head, feeling a pit form in my stomach. We were supposed to leave
I could hardly believe what was happening. Most of the Alphas had been killed—just in one night—which sent panic rippling throughout the Kingdom. This was not how I envisioned welcoming my mate and pups home. The atmosphere was thick with tension and fear; I knew that those who had plotted against Alyssa and my innocent children were receiving their just desserts.“Have you heard? The Alpha of St. Lucas was reported dead just now,” Nathaniel said, his expression grave. My heart sank as the weight of his words settled in. This was more serious than we had initially thought.“So what are their families doing about it?” I asked, my voice strained with uncertainty. I was in no position to intervene after everything they had done to me.“They are calling for your help,” he replied, a hint of mischief playing on his lips.“Now they want my help when just a few days ago they wanted to kill me?” I laughed, incredulous at their desperation. This was surely the work of the Moon Goddess, a twist
I strode straight into my room, Nathaniel still at my heels, his excitement palpable. I approached my phone, heart racing as I prepared to dial the number I had yearned to call every night and day.Taking a deep breath, I punched in the digits, my fingers trembling slightly with anticipation.“Hello?” I heard my mate’s voice on the other end, and a wave of relief washed over me.“Alyssa,” I breathed, the sound of her name sending a rush of warmth through my veins. “It’s me.”There was a moment of silence before she responded, her tone a mixture of surprise and joy. “Xavier! I can’t believe it’s really you!”Hearing her voice brought back the memories of our moments together—the laughter, the love, the dreams we shared for our future. I closed my eyes, allowing the sound of her voice to wash over me like a soothing balm.“I’ve missed you every day,” I confessed, my heart aching with longing. “I finally stood up to the council. They tried to break me, but they can’t control what I’ve bu
I entered the room, and the atmosphere shifted. As usual, all the Alphas were present, their expressions a mix of curiosity and disdain. I didn’t bother to greet them; instead, I took my seat with an air of defiance, determined to remain unyielding in the face of their scrutiny.“Xavier Black of the Blood Moon Pack, do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth?” Elder Simon asked, his voice authoritative yet tinged with a hint of amusement. I knew he had always been fond of me, and it seemed that sentiment hadn’t waned, even in the face of this farce.“I swear to tell nothing but the truth,” I replied, my tone steady. Before Elder Simon could continue, Elder Samuel shot up from his seat, interrupting the proceedings. I rolled my eyes in exasperation; he always seemed to have a knack for stealing the spotlight from Simon, making it difficult for the process to flow smoothly.“Do you still not know the whereabouts of your mate?” he inquired, his tone sharp.“I passed the tes
--XAVIER POV--It had been two whole months since Aurelia left, and every single day, I felt the urge to break own, to cry, but I knew I couldn’t afford to lose my composure. I had to stay strong, to remain calm if I was going to survive this manipulative game the Alphas were playing. Aurelia had slipped away quietly before anyone noticed. By the time the council arrived, she was already gone, leaving me to face their barrage of questions. I was questioned endlessly, but thanks to the bond with my wolf, I was able to lie convincingly. They didn’t believe me—why would they? But they had no proof, and more importantly, no right to treat me like a prisoner. I had played my part well, and it baffled me how foolish they were to think I would simply tell them the truth. The bond with one’s wolf was sacred in the werewolf realm, and by the decree of the Moongoddess, a wolf could never lie. But mine did. Somehow, I managed to deceive them, and it worked.I couldn’t help but wonder if the Moo
Tears blurred my vision as I glanced at Mom, who stood beside me, her own eyes filled with emotion. She had been so strong throughout it all, but now, seeing her grandchild, her tears flowed freely. Grandma was nearby too, her hands clasped together, a proud smile lighting up her face. The room was filled with so much love, so much joy.But just as I began to think it was over, a sudden, sharp pain shot through me, taking my breath away. I gasped, my body tensing as fear gripped me once more. “Something’s wrong!” I cried out, panic creeping into my voice. The midwife, who had been carefully watching over me, quickly moved to check. Her expression remained calm, and after a moment, she looked up at me with a reassuring smile. “No, Alyssa, nothing’s wrong. You’re having another baby.”Another baby. The words took a moment to register in my exhausted mind. Another baby? My heart raced as the realization dawned on me. Twins. I was having twins. The pain came back in waves, and I gripped t
It had been an entire month since I last heard from Xavier, and the worry gnawed at me constantly. Every day, I cried myself to sleep, the emptiness in my heart growing with each passing hour. I couldn’t help but think about him, about where he was and what he might be going through. But there was one thing that kept me going—the certainty that he was still alive. If he weren’t, I would have felt it deep inside me. That was the one thing mates shared, a connection that transcended distance and time. It was that bond that reassured me, even in the darkest moments, that Xavier was out there somewhere, fighting to return to us.Yet, despite that fragile hope, I was falling apart. In Grandma and Mom’s words, I looked terrible. My skin had paled, and the bags under my eyes were dark and heavy from countless sleepless nights. My clothes barely fit, and I’d stopped caring about my appearance long ago. The weight of uncertainty was crushing. As much as I tried to stay positive, the constant
--Alyssa--We were watching a movie, a popular request from Grandma, but my mind kept wandering back to Mom and what could have possibly happened. I couldn't shake the worry that gnawed at the edges of my thoughts, despite trying to focus on the screen in front of me. Something didn’t feel right, and I could tell that both Grandma and I were distracted.“There’s a knock, Grandma,” I said softly, even though it had been faint. My ears had picked it up nonetheless. Grandma didn't seem to notice at first, but then came another knock, louder this time, clear enough to be undeniable.“I’ll check it,” she said, motioning for me to stay seated. She rose slowly from her chair and made her way to the door, her steps deliberate, as if she, too, felt a shift in the air.A moment later, I heard her say, “Elizabeth.”The sound of that name startled me to my feet before my brain could even register what was happening. Mom. She was here. “Mom?” I called out, my voice filled with both relief and conf
