--XAVIER--

It has been a whole week since we left the Bloodmoon pack. We have visited several pack houses, but, still no mate as usual. I sometimes feel I was not gifted one by the moon goddess, but I have to keep going for the sake of my pack and also for my mom.

The Shewolves, during the balls, were so clingy, wanting to have a dance with me as soon as one ended with another. I won't blame them. I was quite handsome, with green eyes that always held mischief and a body like that of a Greek god.

Some called me Adonis when I was not looking, and I also heard all their fantasies about me, which were so ridiculous and disgusting, which kept Zain growling in my head.

Another thing happened in a different ball when a she-wolf who belonged to the moonlight pack, claimed I was her mate but refused to accept her, which created a scene, and she was taken away by the guards.

I was so angry at that point that my wolf wanted to surface and kill her at once, but I was held by Nathaniel, who stood by my side all that while controlling my anger caused by horny shewolves wanting to have their way with me.

From all they had heard, they sure had the guts to approach willingly.

Some of the pack members who had found their mates had left to blood moon with their soulmates, with only a few left behind.

I only have one more ball scheduled for tomorrow at a pack called Riverdale Pack. I can't wait for all this to end so I can go home quickly and continue to rule my pack as king.

Currently, I am in the Silvermoon pack with my pack members, who reside on the top floor of the packing house. I have a room to myself as well as Nathaniel. The room was reserved for my personal use when I always visited for functions. It's not as glamorous as my room, fit for a king back home, but okay just to perch for a night.

My room back home was three times bigger than this. It was painted black with a white bed set with only a closet as big as this room and a king-sized bed that could fit five people at once, along with an adjoined bathroom that could accommodate a lot of people at the same time.

I checked the time on the nightstand, which looked like an antique clock that read 12am. Sleep was refusing to consume me, which brought all sorts of thoughts into my head. How could a whole alpha king be refused a mate by the moon goddess herself, who pairs mates immediately when they are born? I continued to think about my life as blackness consumed me.

A knock came on my door and it was Nathaniel, because I could smell him all the way in my room.

I mind-linked him to come in. I checked the time on the nightstand and it read 9am . I got off the bed in my boxers as Nathaniel entered the room, already dressed in a tuxedo.

"Xavier, you need to dress up, so we can leave the pack. The remaining Pack members are waiting for you," he said, sitting on the sofa in front of my bed.

" Okay, but I need to take a shower first," I said, taking my towel from my suitcase.

" Okay, then I will wait here. Go on".

I entered the bathroom, got into the bathtub, and regulated the temperature of the water to cold because it was already warm.

I scrubbed my body and hair. My hand touched a scar I had on my back. Years ago, I was held hostage to scare my parents from stepping down from the throne. I was just ten by then, but I managed to flee with bruises all over me.

My father tracked them down with the number one best tracker in the pack and killed them all. It took a while to get them, but the wait was worth it. I got out of the shower and walked to the sink to brush my teeth as droplets of water ran down my body, showing my eight-packs.

I got out of the bathroom with just a towel around my waist, which hung loosely. I wore my outfit, which was a tuxedo as well, and gelled my hair back to perfection as Nathaniel sat quietly in the room, waiting for me patiently. As the king, my appearance mattered in the werewolf kingdom.

" We can go now, Nat" I said to him, grabbing my bag, but was stopped by Nathaniel's hand, which meant he would hold it.

Nathaniel dragged my bag behind me as we made our way across the hall. People peeped through their doors to look at me as I walked down the halls.

" It was an honour to have you here, King Xavier" Alpha Lucas said, shaking my hand.

" Thank you too, we will be leaving then," I said quickly because I was not here for a chit-chat. We entered our cars, which were lined up at the entrance of the pack house.

I entered my SUV with Nathaniel as he took the driver's seat, with me sitting beside him. The journey to Riverdale Pack was about three hours away. I buckled my seat belt as the car took off. We took various turns in town, which were mixed with werewolves and humans going about their daily lives.

"As the car passed by through towns, those who saw me secretly gave a sign of respect so humans would not notice. Some were also rogues, but as far as they were not found in a marked territory, they were free. Some had their reasons for going rogue.

--ALYSSA--

Today is the ball, and Emily and I have still not gone dress shopping. Ugh! What stress is this?

We were so occupied by Emily's birthday celebration that happened a few days ago. I took her to the salon as an excuse for a birthday gift to get her hair and nails done while preparations were made at home. The look of shock on her face was so priceless as we got to her house.

Her two friends, Lola and Kathy, were also invited as well. Kathy turned out to be Lucas' mate. Yes, into you heard me right, Lucas's mate. She moved into Riverdale Pac just a day ago. She is actually a nice person but slightly picky, just like Lucas. The two pairs fit perfectly moon goddess The moon-goddess surely did a good job with this.

Finally, Lucas would stop pestering me if we met at the shop for grocery shopping, and, as for Lola, she was exactly like Emily, good looking and, above all, putting others before their needs. We hit it off immediately and even took her contact, which is currently saved on my phone.

It is such a shame she belongs to a different pack. She promised to visit next time for a longer stay. Michael, as well, flirted with almost all the girls at the party, such a man-whore, but his actions were reciprocated because he was blessed with good looks just like his dad, Mr Anderson.

I heard a voice beside me say "Earth Alyssa we need to leave ", Emily said, already dressed up in my room munching on a cookie.

" Fuck, I need to take a bath," I said.

" Then hurry up, we have no time girl".

That is true. The clock on my nightstand read 10am. I rushed to the closet to pick up my outfit. I decided on pants and a white top which read 'girls rock always' and left it on my bed along with my undergarments.

My towel was already in the bathroom because I left it there yesterday when I had my bath. So I quickly bolted into the bathroom. I stripped out of my pyjamas, which were Cinderella-themed themed. I got into the shower and washed my hair and body with a lavender body and hair wash.

I got out of my bathtub and walked to the sink to brush my teeth. I immediately came out of the bathroom and put my clothes in front of Emily, which was normal because we practically liked living together. In just a span of days, most of my clothes were at her house and hers, too, at my house, and we also spent each night in either her house or mine.

We were practically inseparable like we were mates. If that was possible, I would have chosen Emily as my other half, without not doing anything sexual that is yucky to me . Ugh, I cannot even think about it at all. I held my hair in a bun. It needed straightening.

" Grandma, we are going" I yelled from my room. "

" Okay you girls should take care of yourselves and come back soon" she yelled.

" Yes Grandma" "Yes, Grandma Dorothy", we both screamed.

We went into Emily's mother's car and Emily was the one driving.

" Which dress do you have in mind ", I started a conversation as she drove off.

" I would love to have a blue-sea-colored dress just like this," she said, handing her phone over. The dress looked beautiful and simple but elegant,.

"And you" she asked, taking a turn to the main road.

" Anything I find attractive and fits me . I answered shortly, looking outside through the window.

I came to the realization when I heard a boom. I turned behind to see what it was, only to notice a car behind had crashed into ours. What the hell?

Of all the days it had to be today? We are already running late, I said to myself.

" What happened, Emily?"

"I do not know. I just heard a loud noise coming from the back" she answered, slightly frightened.

We immediately went down to see who was responsible. A lady in her early twenties came out of the car looking not so shocked as we were a few seconds ago.

" Sorry it was an accident" she said meekly.

" Of course, we can all vividly see that" Emily answered sarcastically.

I turned to look at the damage but it was not anything major.

" I am not from town and I also do not have cash on me" she said sadly. I could call someone to fix it for you. " I cut her off, saying" Do not worry, I will take care of it". I answered out of the blue and wondered why I did that, but it was already done and I could not go back on my words.

"Thank you very much, she said, went into her call and sped off.

What the fuck just happened?

"Alyssa, why did you say that? She is the one responsible so she has to fix this problem" she said, explaining, pointing towards the car.

" You don't worry, I will take care of it. Let's go "I said. We quickly sat in the car and sped off.

"Are you thinking what I am thinking, Emily? I just got under a spell by that witch" I said, screaming.

" You sure" she said, unsure.

" Of course, Emily, why will I agree to pay for the damages when I don't even know her?

" You have a point, Alyssa, and why would she do that?" she rambled angrily.

" She is a witch and, at the same time, too, a werewolf" I answered more to myself.

" How dare she do that to me" I said furiously .

Emily parked the car in front of the shop and we entered. The shop was full of humans except the employees, who were werewolves. We went to the gown section and immediately looked through it. The price tags were insane with a couple of zeros.

What the fuck! I had the money but did not want to waste everything on a single dress. I saw from the side of my eye Emily going into the changing room to try out some dresses she had in hand. I continued looking around with an annoying shop attendant telling me to try on dresses and when I looked through the price tags, they were incredibly expensive.

I will definitely not pay for a dress with that amount, which makes me turn her down, but she has still not gotten the hint. I do not need her help. I do not want to sound rude, so I just refuse sweetly.

" Alyssa" , I turned when I heard my name and Emily stood right before me in the most beautiful dress, which made it look like it was purposely made for her. It hugged her like a glove and showed her curves as well.

" Yes Emily, pick this. It suits you," I answered excitedly, grinning from ear to ear. She went back into the changing room to take off the dress.

I still kept looking through racks of dresses but had not found the perfect one.

"Alyssa, have you found one yet" Emily asked, giving her dress to a shop attendant to package it.

"No, Emily", I said quietly.

" Ma'am, we have more dresses at the new arrival section. We could check there if you want" the annoying shop attendant said caringly.

" Yes, please let's go there" Emily followed behind as we walked there.

The place was big and I was confused about where to search first.

" Alyssa, your search here, I will search there and show you if I find what I think you will like," she said.

" Good, that's my smart Emily putting her brains to work. I began my search with the shop attendant off my face because someone had called her to check something out. Minutes had passed but still no perfect dress.

I kept rambling to myself when I felt a tap on my back and turned. Emily held the dress in her hand and I instantly wanted it.

" Emily, where did you get this? It is beautiful" I said, taking it from her.

"You go and try it out. I am waiting here" she said, shoving me into the changing room right opposite us. I entered, locked the door and began removing my pants and top. I wore the dress which also hugged my hourglass figure. I looked in the mirror, appreciating my beauty. When a knock came from the door,

"Alyssa, hurry, we don't have all day. You can keep staring at it once we get home" she yelled, which made me giggle.

I went out to show her my appearance.

" You look gorgeous as always ", Emily said, circling me.

" Now go and remove it and let's get the hell out of here" she said.

I removed it and we paid. We even got discounts, since today was a special day for the shop, I did not quite know.

We got to my place."About time, you girls came. What took you so long?" Grandma asked, sitting on the sofa with Mrs. Anderson.

"We got into an accident" Emily blurted, which made me hit my hand on my face. "What " they both shouted.

"But it was nothing serious," I muttered.

" Okay, let's go girls, you have no time. We walked into my room. Mrs Anderson was the one doing our make-up because she was highly skilled at that. I forgot to tell you we also bought a pair of heels and a clutch. I took my phone from my bag and it read 3 pm. Wow, we did spend a lot of time outside.

--Alyssa--Looking at myself in the mirror, I was stunned by the transformation that Mrs. Anderson's had made on me. I looked mature—yes, that was the word—but not in a bad way. I could hardly believe what was happening. Most of the Alphas had been killed—just in one night—which sent panic rippling throughout the Kingdom. This was not how I envisioned welcoming my mate and pups home. The atmosphere was thick with tension and fear; I knew that those who had plotted against Alyssa and my innocent children were receiving their just desserts.“Have you heard? The Alpha of St. Lucas was reported dead just now,” Nathaniel said, his expression grave. My heart sank as the weight of his words settled in. This was more serious than we had initially thought.“So what are their families doing about it?” I asked, my voice strained with uncertainty. I was in no position to intervene after everything they had done to me.“They are calling for your help,” he replied, a hint of mischief playing on his lips.“Now they want my help when just a few days ago they wanted to kill me?” I laughed, incredulous at their desperation. I entered the room, and the atmosphere shifted. As usual, all the Alphas were present, their expressions a mix of curiosity and disdain. I didn’t bother to greet them; instead, I took my seat with an air of defiance, determined to remain unyielding in the face of their scrutiny.“Xavier Black of the Blood Moon Pack, do you swear to tell the truth and nothing but the truth?” Elder Simon asked, his voice authoritative yet tinged with a hint of amusement. I knew he had always been fond of me, and it seemed that sentiment hadn’t waned, even in the face of this farce.“I swear to tell nothing but the truth,” I replied, my tone steady. Before Elder Simon could continue, Elder Samuel shot up from his seat, interrupting the proceedings. It had been an entire month since I last heard from Xavier, and the worry gnawed at me constantly. Every day, I cried myself to sleep, the emptiness in my heart growing with each passing hour. I couldn’t help but think about him, about where he was and what he might be going through. But there was one thing that kept me going—the certainty that he was still alive. If he weren’t, I would have felt it deep inside me. That was the one thing mates shared, a connection that transcended distance and time. It was that bond that reassured me, even in the darkest moments, that Xavier was out there somewhere, fighting to return to us.Yet, despite that fragile hope, I was falling apart. In Grandma and Mom’s words, I looked terrible. My skin had paled, and the bags under my eyes were dark and heavy from countless sleepless nights. --Alyssa--We were watching a movie, a popular request from Grandma, but my mind kept wandering back to Mom and what could have possibly happened. I couldn't shake the worry that gnawed at the edges of my thoughts, despite trying to focus on the screen in front of me. Something didn’t feel right, and I could tell that both Grandma and I were distracted.“There’s a knock, Grandma,” I said softly, even though it had been faint. My ears had picked it up nonetheless. Grandma didn't seem to notice at first, but then came another knock, louder this time, clear enough to be undeniable.“I’ll check it,” she said, motioning for me to stay seated. She rose slowly from her chair and made her way to the door, her steps deliberate, as if she, too, felt a shift in the air.A moment later, I heard her say, “Elizabeth.”The sound of that name startled me to my feet before my brain could even register what was happening.
