BAILED ON

Carly slipped back into the Supreme Alpha's den just before dawn and met Mandy waiting already.

“Lover girl is back” she gave her a naughty wink.

“It's not like that, Mandy,” Carly replied with a chuckle.

“How was it?” Mandy inquired. 

“It was fun. I wish every night there would be a full moon,” Carly said with a wistful smile on her face.

“Same here, Whi… who is there?” Mandy was interrupted by a knock on their door.

A maid came in and stared at Carly. "Mia asked for you. "

“Do you know why?” Carly inquired, not eager to leave the confines of her room.

The only response she got was a click on the door. The maid had left.

“I'll be right back,” Carly told Mandy, and left in search of Mia.

She found her in the kitchen with Veronica. Glancing at Veronica, she gave a curt nod and turned to Mia. "You asked for me.”

“I sent for you, come with me” Veronica gave her a long look and stalked off with Carly at her back.

She was led into a chamber that she had not seen before.

‘Must be her chamber, she thought to herself

“I want you to clean every nook and cranny of this place. I want my clothes washed too. Get to work,” Veronica ordered.

“Okay.” Carly told her with a fake smile pasted on her face. “I'll be right back. Let me get my equipment.”

“What material?” Veronica snarled.

“To clean the room,” Carly responded, wondering if her tormentor was okay.

“What are your hands for?” Veronica retorted.

‘If she has a problem with me being the Supreme Alpha's mate, she should take it up with him or better still, the moon goddess’ Carly grumbled, but only in her thoughts, she couldn't risk piling up her work more than it already was.

“Forgive me. My hands won't be able to achieve the perfection you crave. I can ask a maid to bring it instead.”

“Forget it, go get it yourself. I want you back as soon as possible. If I should wait for you, I swear by goddess breath that I'll make you regret meeting me.” Veronica threatened.

“Okay.” Carly said and scurried out in search of cleaning equipments. On her way back, she encountered Rick.

“Princess, won't you get some rest?” he asked, with concern written all over his face.

“I can't, duty calls,” she said with a wry smile.

“Is it something I can help with?” He asked with complete eagerness to help.

“I'm not sure, it's like a punishment,” She shrugged.

“Oh… sorry… I won't ask what you did wrong though,” he gave her a small smile.

“Why?” she inquired, not knowing why she held her breath and why she even asked him that. Was he even supposed to know? 

“You can't possibly be on the wrong side. You can't hurt a fly even if you want to,” Rick answered. 

“Don't judge me quickly, I killed a rabbit last night, so I'm therefore capable of hurting a fly, Rick.” She chided him, with a tint of pride lacing her voice.

“Our wolves make us act out, we can't add that,” he replied, shaking his brows in a funny way. “Now, lead the way, princess.” He added and placed his index on the tip of her nose.

They both went back to Veronica's chamber, with Carly leading the way. Luckily, she was not around when they got there.

They worked and talked for hours, telling tales of their favorite memories and most embarrassing moments.

When they were done with cleaning up the room, they packed the clothes out to wash.

“Remember when we first met? I'm always reminded about that day anytime I come here,” He told her.

“But we did not meet here,” she replied.

“No, we didn't. But we became best friends here,” He gave her a lopsided grin.

“Yeah, true,” she chuckled. 

“What do you say we meet at night?” Rick paused to read her reaction. 

“Same spot and same purpose,” He added.

“Okay.” She agreed immediately and blushed, but immediately covered her face. She was being silly. Though she wished Rick were her mate. Things would have been better. 

“You said what?!!” Alpha Stephen roared.

“The maid made a mistake, the bitch is still alive,” Alpha Hulbert replied soberly and scared. 

“You promised me, Hulbert! I trusted you to wrap things up last night.” Alpha Stephen's face had gone red. “Get out!” He shouted at the whore that was splayed on the table.

Fear gripped her and quickly, she got up and fled the room, stark naked, not wanting to incur the wrath of the Alpha.

“I made that potion myself, so I know that it is quite effective, but the maid insisted that Carly took it, but there was no effect,” Hulbert explained. So certain the fault wasn't his. 

“Where is the maid? Bring her to me,” Alpha Stephen demanded.

“I slayed her already.” Alpha Hulbert replied.

After what seemed like forever, Alpha Stephen spoke up. “We require new alliances, bring up names of people that hates Derek and arrange a meeting with them.”

“There are only a few people who would want to go against him, even if they hate him,” Alpha Hulbert replied.

“Bring out that few. I need allies. What plans do you have for that bitch?” Alpha stephen demanded. Carly should be killed. She has to leave the surface. 

“I'll have to take her myself personally. It will take time, but I'll be sure to take her out. Derek hates her, so there's not really much for concern.”

“I. Don't. Want. Loose ends, Hulbert” Stephen thundered.

“I will take her out, I give you my word,” Alpha Hulbert said, placing his index and middle finger on his chest.

“Any name in mind for our ally?” Alpha Stephen asked.

“Not yet. I'll give you a list tomorrow. I'll need to do intense research to avoid any error by trusting a wrong person.”

“True, you're right. We'll meet tomorrow then. You're dismissed,” Alpha Stephen said and walked out of the room, leaving Hulbert to his thoughts.

Carly slipped out of her room at dusk and tiptoed all the way to their meeting place. She had planned to just cancel and rest because fatigue was catching up with her, but she could not help her yearn for stargazing.

She got there before him and could not help but panic if he had forgotten.

“I'll wait for a little time and head back,” she said and focused on the stars.

Shortly after, he appeared with snacks in his hands.

“I thought you bailed on me,” she accused. Her mind was now calm. 

“I would never, princess,” He said solemnly.

They both laid on the mat, observing different stars when we spoke up. “Can I trust you with something?” He asked. His tone was so serious that Carly had to sit up and face him.

“Sure?!” she replied hesitated.

“I have a secret way out of the den.” he then took a bit of the snack he had prepared. “We can go out and observe night-life, we will be back before dawn, I promise,” He whispered…

Carly was shocked. "How come I did not know about it?”

“I've explored around and I know shortcuts too.” He said proudly and after a pause, he added, “Some slaves use it too”.

“Maybe another night,” she replied, reluctant about leaving the premises.

‘If Derek should catch me, I doubt I will live to tell the story.’ she thought

“Loosen up a little, girl. We can go to taverns and observe the merriment of the people. We can be free for the night,” He coaxed.

“Free….” She tasted the words in her mouth.

“Alexis…what's your opinion” Carly asked. Though Rick has been a great friend so, 

“I'll definitely fall for a taste of freedom, Carly.” Alexis purred.

“Will we be able to get back before dawn? I might be requested for,” she asked, still skeptical about the whole thing.

“I cross my heart and swear with the goddess' breath,” He said, placing his index and middle fingers on his chest.

That seemed to placate her, and she took a deep breath before saying, “Lead the way. "
