Chapter 41

Amber

I woke up slowly, my senses waking before my body. I felt the soft sheets around me and hummed; it felt like I was sleeping on clouds. I moved around on the cloud, extending my arms as I stretched feeling my joints protest in pain that wasn’t usually there. My mouth fell open on its own accord and let out a yawn big enough to swallow the entire room.

Room. Where was I? Because this didn’t feel like the rusty, crusty old room I had become accustomed to but yet it felt familiar, I thought as I began to open my eyes. My first attempt had me shutting them back immediately as a reflex response to the blinding light coming from the windows. Opening them again, more slowly this time, I recognized where I was and last night slowly came back to me.
