The sudden change in topic caught me off guard.

"It's the truth."

"Did you do it to get on my nerves?"

I smiled bitterly and rather helplessly. Maybe I really had these emotions and intentions when I first got married. After all, I'd been loving Brooke for seven whole years, and it was hard for me to let go of her that quickly.

But now, after so many things had happened, things weren't the same anymore.

"No, it wasn't."

"You're lying."

"Ms. Rivers, there's no need for me to lie to you about these matters. Also, why would I want to get married just to get on your nerves? Who are you to me? What right do I have to do such a thing to you?"

"You're blaming me! Theros, you're blaming me!"

I sighed as I looked at Brooke, who was starting to lose her composure.

"Brooke, I'm already married, and you're about to get engaged. Whatever feelings I had for you are now in the past. Let's just go about our lives by ourselves."
