"How is this dinner even relevant?" I asked my father as I came downstairs.
I was dressed in a plain tight fitted black dress with gold earrings and a gold necklace as well that looked like two as a design. My hair was let free in its natural loose curls. Simple black pumps were on my feet. Simple and chic. Just the way I wanted to look. Jas won today. I didn't want to overdo anything for these people and I didn't want to give off the wrong impression that I actually liked them. Or was this outfit actually showing that I liked them? Arghh! I then wished I would have just stayed in my pjs and have mom drag down the stairs. That would definitely give the impression I dislike them or just plain don't care. My dress suddenly felt as if it was too short and I found the urge to stretch it further down but it kept coming back up a couple inches above my knees, almost mid thigh. And it seemed the more I tried to drag it down, the shorter it became. I was very, very frustrated. But then again, I caused it all upon myself. Stupid dinner!
I looked up at my dad, a few inches taller than me, staring down at me irritated. Boy, he seemed scary. His shoulders were broad and big and that raven black suit enhanced it. His eyes stared down at me blankly and the scar he had on his left cheek made him seem even more of a monster.
"Stop..." he trailed off looking down at me. I gave him a small embarrassed smile. "Whatever is it are you doing...?"
"The dress is a little too short," I said through clenched teeth.
He stuffed his hands in his pockets and straightened. He nodded, but before anything could be spoken, our main butler, Jordan came towards us.
"Have they arrived?" My father asked before the graying man could say something.
"Yes, sir." Jordan bowed.
"Let them in," my mother said sweetly.
Jordan left, but not before he flashed me a sympathetic look. They all knew how difficult this was for me. Christ! It was like sending myself into war with no weapon. It all came down to suicide. 'Maybe I should make a run for it,' I thought as I tried to make a move to walk back up the stairs, but my father's voice stopped me.
"Victor!" I heard him call out and I knew what that meant.
"George!" I heard the other male dominating voice with almost the same bass in their voice like my father's. I cringed as I heard my mother's girlish squeal next. Wasn't this suppose to be a formal meeting and dinner? I cringed again as my heel made a very sharp noise on the marble as I spun back around causing everyone to look at me in silence. Talk about an awkward situation.
"Lovely!" In no time a woman ran (well, as fast as someone can walk in four inch heels) towards me. Before my slow brain could puck up what was happening, I was pulled into a bone crushing hug.
"Honey, be careful. She looks as if she can't breath," I heard her husband said.
"Oh!" She immediately released me from the embrace and air filled my lungs once again. "Sorry, my dear. I guess I got a little carried away," Oh really now? I didn't notice. I was too air deprived to roll my eyes.
"Are you okay?" I looked up to see two worried feminine faces and two male poker faces, but the deep husky voice that asked me the question was not in sight.
"Yep," I said straightening my spine before I fell face forward.
"Oh my gush! Little Miss Lovely has grown so big," the bine crusher lady squealed again cupping my cheeks. "No longer is the adorable six year old, but a young and beautiful lady took her space."
"Thank you...?" I said, not sure if I should really accept her compliment if it is one.
"Honey, you are frightening the girl," Alpha Victor made sure his wife as tucked by his side. I then felt my parents presence right behind me. "Hello, Miss Thunderstorm. It's been a long time." He stretched out his hand for me to shake. I put my hand in his hesitantly. Surprisingly, his handshake wasn't painful, but was rather welcoming. I then gave him a small smile.
"It's been a long time, indeed," And I wish it was longer. My mind was coming up with its snappy comebacks again.
"Where's Greg?" His wife asked looking at me with large eyes childishly. I saw Alpha Victor roll his eyes in the corner of my right eye.
"I am afraid, he is still in Europe," my mother replied for me. "Let's go to the living room now, dinner will soon be ready,"
"Oh yes, of course," the Luna said, her blonde straight hair bouncing about. She reminded me so much of my mother, the total opposite of me. I wondered if all Lunas were the same.
"Come on, son. Don't be shy," I heard her say dragging someone from the far corner shadows. I tip toed in my heels (MY HEELS! Boy, I'm short) to see who it was she was dragging by the hand and my stomach immediately dropped.
There he was, and as much rumours I have heard of him, nothing prepared me for this.
"Lovely, don't mind my son's childish and rude behaviour," Luna Hillary said sweetly.
"Lovely Ashes Thunderstorm this is my son, the soon to be Alpha Victor Jr," His father introduced. "Son, this is the daughter of Alpha George and Luna Elizabeth's daughter, Lovely,"
He gave me a steely look and I wanted to shrink away from this world. A man so devilishly handsome and breathtaking must be ilegal, right? I felt my wolf howling and saying something but I ignored. It was not the time for her to get crazy...not yet.
"Hi," I said stretching out my hand for him to shake. He stared at my hands coldly before looking up at my face. His face remained emotionless as he shook my hand.
"Hi," he mirrored my response earlier.
I then pleaded for the ground below my feet to swallow me up.
"Let's go," I turned to see my mother giving us a warm smile and walked in the dining room with dad locked by her side. "Dinner is ready."
Alpha Victor and his wife followed behind them. I looked up at Victor Jr just as he looked at me and we immediately jerked back. I shook my head and went ahead. This was going to be some night.
A Decade Earlier...Alpha Victor looked closely at the little children playing in his courtyard celebrating his only son's ninth birthday party. The party just started, but he was disappointed that not all of his guests arrived. This was the day he would choose among the wonderful and suitable girls at the party who would marry his son. This was a very important decision, for if he chooses the wrong Luna, this great and mighty pack will be no more."Honey, stop watching your guests and welcome them" Luna Hillary of Black Diamonds Pack whispered to her husband."The witch said tonight," he replied smoothly."Do you really trust that woman? For all we know, she just wanted to wake us up that night," she soothed cupping his cheek to look at her."You don't understand my love. It happened to me, as well as my father. This is vital" Alpha Victor snapped his head to the sound of his Beta."I hate to interrupt your evening sir, but a rouge has crossed over our boundary and we know him," Beta
The bright light of the sun shone brightly welcoming the start of a new day. I watched from my window, my father and his pack training out in the town's main training field. It is so peaceful here in the hills. My long time childhood friend looked up at me and acknowledged me with a stiff nod. I gave him an army salute and both of our faces broke out into a warm smile. My father barked at him to pay attention and just like that, I was no one again. I heaved a sigh and walked away from the window."Madam, would you like me to take your order for breakfast?" Jasmine said from behind at my room door way acting like my maid."Wow, you would make a perfect maid," I teased turning around to go into my bathroom."Noooo!" She scoffed dramatically."Well, as they say, practice makes perfect." I said turning on the warm shower as I entered the bathroom and closed the door."I am never becoming a maid, so there is no need for your supposed compliment" she said casually, no doubt that she felt in
I parked outside our school."You must admit he is cute." She grinned at me. For the past ten minutes it took us to come to school, Jasmine blabbered about guys in the school. She then accused me of liking her boyfriend which I quickly denied, but here she was talking about how cute he is."I guess," I sighed not caring if she'll use that for her benefit later."Okay. Later junior," she said coming out of the car with a sly smile. Yep, this conversation is going to haunt me."Later old woman," I watched her expression change set hard immediately. She then came out of the car to be tackled by her popular friends and the rest of the school population that absolutely adore her.I walked up the dreaded stairs of our school. I looked back at my cousin giving me a deadly glare and being the sweet one, gave her a flashing white smile. And let us not forget the flicker of my middle finger. Her glare turned into a scowl. Ain't I the best cousin ever? Yes I am. I turned around and my face met t
Didn't say they had to be welcomed. Didn't mention anything about the daughter of the persons who invited them to be nice. No, so why should I try. They might have saved my father's life, but many more lives were lost by their hands. Those worthless scumbags. I really, really dislike them already. I wonder if there's a way for me to get out of this "meet and greet" thing. For good measure, I could remind my blind parents how terrible I am at greeting people (my report card would be the evidence in this case) but when you have an Alpha for a dad, he expects everything to go his way. And I mean everything. Even the day I was born had to be perfect. And in my mind, I was like really? Control freak. I don't know much about my brother, but I am pretty sure my father is one. I am not one that's for sure."Jasmine don't disrupt my closet! The black dresses have to be in order of shortness," I chastised her.She narrowed her eyes at me and muttered something about OCD under her breath."If yo
