The bright light of the sun shone brightly welcoming the start of a new day. I watched from my window, my father and his pack training out in the town's main training field. It is so peaceful here in the hills. My long time childhood friend looked up at me and acknowledged me with a stiff nod. I gave him an army salute and both of our faces broke out into a warm smile. My father barked at him to pay attention and just like that, I was no one again. I heaved a sigh and walked away from the window.
"Madam, would you like me to take your order for breakfast?" Jasmine said from behind at my room door way acting like my maid.
"Wow, you would make a perfect maid," I teased turning around to go into my bathroom.
"Noooo!" She scoffed dramatically.
"Well, as they say, practice makes perfect." I said turning on the warm shower as I entered the bathroom and closed the door.
"I am never becoming a maid, so there is no need for your supposed compliment" she said casually, no doubt that she felt insulted.
"Who said it was a compliment?" I asked not stopping the mischievous smile that made its way on my face. I love troubling my chubby faced cousin. It is so tempting to get under her skin. She easily gets fiery-tempered.
"Oh, don't get all smartass with me" she threatened.
"And what is Miss Future-Maid going to do about it?" I argued stepping out of the shower after bathing and wrapping a towel around me.
"Aren't you bathing with no clothing right now?" She quizzed mischievously.
"Isn't it too early for you to be taking pictures of your family? Don't you know that will only bring shame upon the family which includes you, may I add?" I responded coming out of the bathroom in a floral two piece yellow dress.
"Madam, your family wanted me to tell you that family dinner is tonight and they'll be having guests as well" Hakeem, the family butler said as I slipped on my shoes.
"Sure thing Hakeem." I saluted. Why am I in the saluting mood today?
He gave me a glimpse of a smile on his hard features and walked out.
"Sooo," Jasmine drawled grabbing my attention.
"What is it?" I sighed brushing my hair from in my face as I looked up at her on my bed from finishing to put on my shoes.
"I heard the Alpha and his family of Black Diamonds Pack will be having dinner with you guys tonight," she said slowly trying to measure up my expression.
"Sooo?" I gave her a skeptical look.
"C'mon Lovely, we all know you don't like the Black Diamonds Pack. Why do you hate them so much?" She looked at me with pity.
"First things first, I don't hate the Black Diamonds Pack. Don't tell any lies on me." I said defensively.
"Or is it jealously?" She gave me her you-are-jealous look.
"No," I said feeling a little angry. "They are salvage killers. They killed innocent children and they rip the child from their mother's womb."
"Don't get so hot Miss Thunderstorm, but in case you forgot, they saved your father's life as well as this pack." She snapped.
"Oh please Jasmine. May I remind you that they are the reason why our Alpha was kidnapped and our pack attacked at its weak point." I folded my arms angrily.
"How can you blame them? They didn't know that their third in command was doing that to our pack." She exclaimed.
"Or did they just don't care because it wasn't their pack being affected?" I retorted.
"They are friends Lovely. Why would they do that?" She said outraged at my smart response.
"Not all friends are trustworthy." I breathed grabbing my bag and walking down the stairs.
"Where are we going?" She asked eagerly.
"School. Where else?" I muttered.
"God Lovely! You are so boring," she exclaimed. I chuckled at her dramatization.
"We are not skipping school again Jas." I replied. My family is really bipolar. One minute we are arguing and the next we act back to normal like nothing happened.
"C'mon Lovely, wasn't it fun?" She drawled.
"Yes Jas, but it ain't happening. Now get in the car." I replied shaking my head.
"I am going to get myself my own car and drive where ever I want to go," she said grumpy.
"I would have believed that if you weren't so lazy," I said playfully reversing out of the garage.
She gave me a glare, but said nothing. I couldn't help but snicker at her expression. She was way too funny.

I parked outside our school."You must admit he is cute." She grinned at me. For the past ten minutes it took us to come to school, Jasmine blabbered about guys in the school. She then accused me of liking her boyfriend which I quickly denied, but here she was talking about how cute he is."I guess," I sighed not caring if she'll use that for her benefit later."Okay. Later junior," she said coming out of the car with a sly smile. Yep, this conversation is going to haunt me."Later old woman," I watched her expression change set hard immediately. She then came out of the car to be tackled by her popular friends and the rest of the school population that absolutely adore her.I walked up the dreaded stairs of our school. I looked back at my cousin giving me a deadly glare and being the sweet one, gave her a flashing white smile. And let us not forget the flicker of my middle finger. Her glare turned into a scowl. Ain't I the best cousin ever? Yes I am. I turned around and my face met t
Didn't say they had to be welcomed. Didn't mention anything about the daughter of the persons who invited them to be nice. No, so why should I try. They might have saved my father's life, but many more lives were lost by their hands. Those worthless scumbags. I really, really dislike them already. I wonder if there's a way for me to get out of this "meet and greet" thing. For good measure, I could remind my blind parents how terrible I am at greeting people (my report card would be the evidence in this case) but when you have an Alpha for a dad, he expects everything to go his way. And I mean everything. Even the day I was born had to be perfect. And in my mind, I was like really? Control freak. I don't know much about my brother, but I am pretty sure my father is one. I am not one that's for sure."Jasmine don't disrupt my closet! The black dresses have to be in order of shortness," I chastised her.She narrowed her eyes at me and muttered something about OCD under her breath."If yo
"How is this dinner even relevant?" I asked my father as I came downstairs.I was dressed in a plain tight fitted black dress with gold earrings and a gold necklace as well that looked like two as a design. My hair was let free in its natural loose curls. Simple black pumps were on my feet. Simple and chic. Just the way I wanted to look. Jas won today. I didn't want to overdo anything for these people and I didn't want to give off the wrong impression that I actually liked them. Or was this outfit actually showing that I liked them? Arghh! I then wished I would have just stayed in my pjs and have mom drag down the stairs. That would definitely give the impression I dislike them or just plain don't care. My dress suddenly felt as if it was too short and I found the urge to stretch it further down but it kept coming back up a couple inches above my knees, almost mid thigh. And it seemed the more I tried to drag it down, the shorter it became. I was very, very frustrated. But then again,
A Decade Earlier...Alpha Victor looked closely at the little children playing in his courtyard celebrating his only son's ninth birthday party. The party just started, but he was disappointed that not all of his guests arrived. This was the day he would choose among the wonderful and suitable girls at the party who would marry his son. This was a very important decision, for if he chooses the wrong Luna, this great and mighty pack will be no more."Honey, stop watching your guests and welcome them" Luna Hillary of Black Diamonds Pack whispered to her husband."The witch said tonight," he replied smoothly."Do you really trust that woman? For all we know, she just wanted to wake us up that night," she soothed cupping his cheek to look at her."You don't understand my love. It happened to me, as well as my father. This is vital" Alpha Victor snapped his head to the sound of his Beta."I hate to interrupt your evening sir, but a rouge has crossed over our boundary and we know him," Beta
