Didn't say they had to be welcomed. Didn't mention anything about the daughter of the persons who invited them to be nice. No, so why should I try. They might have saved my father's life, but many more lives were lost by their hands. Those worthless scumbags. I really, really dislike them already. I wonder if there's a way for me to get out of this "meet and greet" thing. For good measure, I could remind my blind parents how terrible I am at greeting people (my report card would be the evidence in this case) but when you have an Alpha for a dad, he expects everything to go his way. And I mean everything. Even the day I was born had to be perfect. And in my mind, I was like really? Control freak. I don't know much about my brother, but I am pretty sure my father is one. I am not one that's for sure.
"Jasmine don't disrupt my closet! The black dresses have to be in order of shortness," I chastised her.
She narrowed her eyes at me and muttered something about OCD under her breath.
"If you can't say it to my face then I advise you to say nothing," I told her with a smirk. "And the only persons who talk behind persons' backs are cowards."
I made sure to add a little drawl to the last part. I then turned around, counting the bras in my draw and made sure they were in order.
"Well, I was just saying that control freaks really do run in your family," she smiled sweetly at me.
I ignored her. I was no control freak. My father was, but not me. No one have ever even called me that, so I didn't know what made that suddenly pop up.
"Maybe that's why you are such a dictator," I joked and she scoffed, probably offended.
Closing my draw, I turned around to see her drop a black dress on my bed.
"And just to show it," she stated. "I was not just picking out an outfit you should wear." I lift an eyebrow at her. Really now? "Don't question me. Now you are going to wear this at that dinner."
I rolled my eyes. "Black for the Black Diamonds Pack, no thanks."
She groaned. "Just wear the friggin' dress," and she gave me her do-what-I-say glare. Wow, and she isn't a dictator. The kids that suffer under her leadership. She then looked up at the clock. "It's time for me to go anyways. Before your guests arrive."
"Shut up," I simply stated, arranging back my closet that she just man handled.
"Hey, I heard that Victor Jr is hotter than any guy you have ever seen." She grinned dreamily at me.
"You aren't gone yet?" I snapped with a bored tone.
"Oh, whatever," she said, clearing not pleased with my expression. "Make sure you wear that dress, take a pic for me and tell all the juicy details tomorrow. And I mean all."
"I won't."
"Oh, you will."
"Good bye Jasmine." I really wanted her out now. My patience was now a fish line.
"Bye!" Jasmine waved skipping off to her house.
She seemed devilishly happy after annoying the hell out of me about tonight. I heaved a sigh of relief knowing I wouldn't be taunted for the rest of the night. Thank God she wasn't having this horrible dinner with us tonight. Or maybe it would be a wonderful thing if she did...? I went to my room and closed the door locking out the rest of the world from my private sanctuary.
"Lovely," I heard my mother's small and soft voice through my bedroom door.
I groaned involuntarily as I took five steps back to open the door I just closed.
"Yes mom?" I asked putting on the best fake smile I could muster.
My mother pushed me to the side and went to sit on my bed. What lady like manners. I rolled my eyes before closing the door.
"How may I help you this beautiful day?" I asked sarcastically.
"Jeez, I don't know how obvious a person can get when they don't want you around," my mom said sarcastically, rolling her hazel brown eyes.
"Boy, you roll your eyes way too much mom," I said trying my best not to roll my eyes and keep my lips from twitching into a smile.
"Well, it's a contagious disease," she smiled.
Pft! I rolled my eyes. She chuckled and I felt myself hiding back a laugh myself. This lady really knows how to lighten the mood.
"Point taken," I said folding my hands across my chest and sat across from her on my loveseat.
"Very well. Now that we have got that out of the way, we can get down to business," my mom paused for effect. I raised a dark eyebrow at her. "As you know, the Black Diamonds Pack were planned to come here, but-"
"They aren't coming," I almost jumped for joy. But my joy was short lived as my mother's next words left me dumbfounded.
"I wish you would have been that happy about they coming, but they are going to arrive," she paused again as I let out a huff and looked away. "Just earlier."
She said the last part quietly, but I heard them perfectly clear.
"What?!" I leaped to my feet. "Why?!"
"We don't know for sure, but they are on their way here already. Your father and I want you to be on your best behavior," she said looking at me seriously.
"Really?" I said callously. "Is the glare even necessary? I am always on my best behavior."
"Well then, be on your bestest behavior," she smiled at me getting up.
"Mom, no disrespect, but your English is terrible," I said shaking my head.
"Oh please child," she waved me off. "As long as you get what I'm trying to say, my English is more than perfect. Go get ready, now. The most you have is twenty minutes,"
"Whatever," I sighed rolling my eyes.
"And don't be late missy or I'll drag you downstairs in whatever state you're in," she warned sternly.
"You wouldn't dare," I narrowed my eyes at her.
"Try me," she said before closing the door.
I remained sitting as I fumed. That was so not a good convo.
"Crap! I only have twenty minutes," I said practically running-wait, scrap that- fast jumping into the bathroom.
"How is this dinner even relevant?" I asked my father as I came downstairs.I was dressed in a plain tight fitted black dress with gold earrings and a gold necklace as well that looked like two as a design. My hair was let free in its natural loose curls. Simple black pumps were on my feet. Simple and chic. Just the way I wanted to look. Jas won today. I didn't want to overdo anything for these people and I didn't want to give off the wrong impression that I actually liked them. Or was this outfit actually showing that I liked them? Arghh! I then wished I would have just stayed in my pjs and have mom drag down the stairs. That would definitely give the impression I dislike them or just plain don't care. My dress suddenly felt as if it was too short and I found the urge to stretch it further down but it kept coming back up a couple inches above my knees, almost mid thigh. And it seemed the more I tried to drag it down, the shorter it became. I was very, very frustrated. But then again,
A Decade Earlier...Alpha Victor looked closely at the little children playing in his courtyard celebrating his only son's ninth birthday party. The party just started, but he was disappointed that not all of his guests arrived. This was the day he would choose among the wonderful and suitable girls at the party who would marry his son. This was a very important decision, for if he chooses the wrong Luna, this great and mighty pack will be no more."Honey, stop watching your guests and welcome them" Luna Hillary of Black Diamonds Pack whispered to her husband."The witch said tonight," he replied smoothly."Do you really trust that woman? For all we know, she just wanted to wake us up that night," she soothed cupping his cheek to look at her."You don't understand my love. It happened to me, as well as my father. This is vital" Alpha Victor snapped his head to the sound of his Beta."I hate to interrupt your evening sir, but a rouge has crossed over our boundary and we know him," Beta
The bright light of the sun shone brightly welcoming the start of a new day. I watched from my window, my father and his pack training out in the town's main training field. It is so peaceful here in the hills. My long time childhood friend looked up at me and acknowledged me with a stiff nod. I gave him an army salute and both of our faces broke out into a warm smile. My father barked at him to pay attention and just like that, I was no one again. I heaved a sigh and walked away from the window."Madam, would you like me to take your order for breakfast?" Jasmine said from behind at my room door way acting like my maid."Wow, you would make a perfect maid," I teased turning around to go into my bathroom."Noooo!" She scoffed dramatically."Well, as they say, practice makes perfect." I said turning on the warm shower as I entered the bathroom and closed the door."I am never becoming a maid, so there is no need for your supposed compliment" she said casually, no doubt that she felt in
I parked outside our school."You must admit he is cute." She grinned at me. For the past ten minutes it took us to come to school, Jasmine blabbered about guys in the school. She then accused me of liking her boyfriend which I quickly denied, but here she was talking about how cute he is."I guess," I sighed not caring if she'll use that for her benefit later."Okay. Later junior," she said coming out of the car with a sly smile. Yep, this conversation is going to haunt me."Later old woman," I watched her expression change set hard immediately. She then came out of the car to be tackled by her popular friends and the rest of the school population that absolutely adore her.I walked up the dreaded stairs of our school. I looked back at my cousin giving me a deadly glare and being the sweet one, gave her a flashing white smile. And let us not forget the flicker of my middle finger. Her glare turned into a scowl. Ain't I the best cousin ever? Yes I am. I turned around and my face met t
