Olivia's POV
All my life, all I have ever wanted was the ability to become invisible. Today, it looked like it was definitely not a good day for that. "Olivia, quit sitting around doing nothing and go to the kitchen. The guests are arriving soon, and they certainly do not want to see your ugly face.” my mother yelled, cutting into my thoughts. I stood up and patted my butt to rid it of the dust that it had picked up as I sat in a small corner of the storage room. Today was not like any other day, it was one of the days I hated most in the year. The new moon festival has been an annual ritual in my pack. My father was the Alpha and in a different setting, I wasn't supposed to lift a finger this week. I heard my elder sister's loud hissing and turned up to face her. Annalise. I never understood why anyone would hate me, but since I was born, I have never experienced joy for a full day without my family or a pack member reminding me that I was the only Alpha's child with a weak wolf. That was supposed to be my secret but at the age of 11, we were usually taken for training and of course, I came last in all the categories, putting my family to eternal shame. Annalise, on the other hand, had aced all the categories; hence she became the belle of the pack. "You know, mom called you approximately 9 minutes ago. If I tell her that I found you doing nothing in the storage room, she won't exactly find it funny.” she sneered at me. I shook my head and slowly dragged myself out of the storage room, totally ignoring her. I knew that any engagement with her would lead to me being punished for even daring to speak to her. "And where have you been?” The head chef yelled at me as soon as she set her eyes on me. "I'm sorry. I took my 10-minute break.” I managed to say, my voice was small and barely audible. "Did you just say you took your ten-minute break?” The head chef asked me and I wondered why I had done wrong this time since the ten-minute break was for everyone and not just me alone. "Yes.” I said, the fear emboldened me. I already knew what would come. "You are a shame to yourself and to your family. No wonder, no one loves you. What are you taking a break for? You should walk until you pass out and die, that way, you will finally be rid of the curse.” She sniggered angrily. I simply did not answer her, I bowed my head and went straight to washing the plates. Everywhere was quiet for a while and I could hear the hustle of activities. The neighboring packs Alphas were beginning to arrive, but I had learned not to get excited about anything in front of others. "You stink. Move” one of the assistant chefs that I knew would have never had the guts to talk to me that way shoved me roughly aside as she moved in with the pastries. The hot baking pan seared my arm as she made sure that she used it to touch my skin. I yelped, and the head chef yelled from the other side of the kitchen. "Olivia, we don't have all day. If I hear one more word from you before your assigned chores are completed, then you would be in serious trouble.” she said, and I bit back the tears that stung my eyes. “Yes ma'am.” I said quietly and focused on washing my plates. “Lest, I forget, I would rather not see you anywhere near the ceremony. We do not want our guests to question our hygiene standards.” The head chef said to me, her eyes were filled with so much mockery, but I had seen that look on the faces of even kids in the pack, that it no longer meant anything to me. “Yes ma'am” I said again. “Make sure you go to the stables to clean up, if you do not do the right thing, there will be no crumbs for you to eat, and I will make sure that you do not sleep at all tonight.” she threatened and I swallowed. I was starving and the thought of going to bed without food was so draining that I immediately steered my mind from the impending sense of doom I knew would come later at night when I couldn't sleep because of body pains. As soon as I was done in the kitchen, I hurried to the stable to take care of the horses. It was my favorite thing to do, even though it was really tedious. But, the horses were the only ones in the pack who didn't treat me like I was some leprous animal. They didn't refuse the cubes of sugar I fed them, and they listened to me whenever I called. My favorite of the bunch was the stallion that I had named Sebastian. He was a beauty to behold, and he had my heart from the first day I walked into the stable, and he ran towards me, hiding behind me as the stable boy was trying to whip it for not eating its potions. “Horses have souls too.” I said to him that day, but he had looked at me like I was unworthy to speak to him. It was almost laughable. “Hello Sebastian” I said, and the horse whined and matched around me, taking care not to hurt me. It neighed happily and I rubbed its head. Suddenly, Sebastian retreated, it was almost like he had seen something but when I turned around, the only thing I could see was the party lights at the pack house. “it's nothing Sebastian. Absolutely nothing. You are safe. No one is coming to hurt you.” I said as I moved close to him. Even though, I had assured Sebastian, there was a gnawing feeling in my heart that something had really been there.Augustus's POV I howled in pain again. My forever love was going through a lot of pain, but there was nothing I could do until she found me. I took in a deep breath, trying to take away as much of the pain as I could, but I knew that no matter how much breath I did take in, it would never touch her. "When will you go out there and lure her for me?” I barked at my loyal stooge, Alexander, who had been with me for each lifetime. "Master, you know the rules. I cannot interfere until after she has found you herself. You should be used to it by now.” Alexander said and scurried away from me because he knew what would come next. I growled loudly. This was my final year and for every lifetime, I have messed up our reunion. It was almost like I could never get her to love me again, no matter how hard I tried. A thousand years ago, I fell in love with a young Luna, of whom I was her first. I never considered my Lycan blood any special until my mate. Ariel was the woman of my drea
Olivia's POV “Get up from the hay, you lazy wench!” I heard a familiar voice scream my name. Before the voice could even register, I felt a hand on my legs, and I was roughly pulled out if where I had fallen asleep. “You must think you will paint us bad.” my mother's voice finally became clear in my head and the suffocating gear that immediately permeated every bone in my body, threatened to leave me paralyzed. “Are you deaf? Do you not hear your mother speaking to you?” I heard my father's gruff voice and immediately jumped up. “Good morning Luna, Alpha.” I greeted and tried to wipe my eyes off the evidence of sleep. “Keep your dirty greetings to yourself. You knew that it is customary for us to show our guests around, yet you chose to embarrass us like this?” my mother yelled and pushed me away. I raised my eyes, I wasn't shocked to see the satisfying smile on Annalise's face. She was definitely the one that led the group here, everyone knew that guests were not brou
Olivia's POV “Olivia Brandon!” I heard my mom yell from the pack house. “I wonder what she wants again.” Elana said, and walked into the bathroom that was nearly falling apart. I shook myself and prepared myself mentally for the worst. On my way to the pack house, I saw some servants looking at me and painting fingers at me. They didn't look too pleased to see me, but that was already something that I was used to. When I entered, I saw Annalise crying profusely. One of the young Alphas that had honored our Pack's invitation was cradling her warmly. “You called for me.” I said and bowed respectfully to my mom. “Where is Anna's necklace?” she demanded, and I was shocked. “What necklace Luna?” I asked her, clearly confused. For the second time that day, I felt my world stop. I had not even seen it coming until it was too late. My mother hit me again, much to the pleasure of Annalise and her new lover. “Your sister has just found her mate, and now she can't find her fav
Olivia's POV I ran. As fast as my legs could carry me. If I were a strong wolf, it would have been a different thing, but the strength of my wolf was barely any different from the strength of a human. The sounds of the guards were getting closer, and I knew that if I didn't do anything soon, I would be caught and a date worse than death awaited Elana and me. My heart was scared for her and I found myself worried. “I think she went over there.” I heard one of the guards yell in the direction that I was running in. I quickened my pace and soon found a waterfall. I hid at the back and waited for a while, the water should be able to mask my scent until the guards had given up on their search or at least changed directions. “I don't think so. We should go back to the palace. It's already late, and you know how close this is to the Lycan borders. We don't want their crazy mysterious animal king to hurt us.” another one said, and I was relieved that they were changing course. Aft
Chapter 6 Olivia's POV “How much longer do you think she would sleep for?” I heard a man's voice, the same registering in my head now as the same voice I had heard, just before I passed out.“Master, you have to be patient and give her time. We talked about this and you agreed.” I heard the unmistakable voice of the other man who had earlier introduced himself to me as Alexander.“Shhhh, she's waking up.” the man said and I opened my eyes. The blinding lights nearly blinded me, accompanied by one of the worst headaches I had ever experienced. I quickly closed my eyes and tried to adjust my sight to the light. “Turn off the light Alexander.” he said. “Who are you?” I asked the man, meeting his gaze for the first time.As soon as I set my eyes on him, it was almost like I had seen him before, flashes of a life I never knew passed through my head and I knew that whatever we had been the best romance I had ever experienced. “We have been waiting for you to come back.” the man said,
Chapter 7Augustus's POV “Quit kicking me” I yelled at her. She was obviously going to make this hard for me. Even though I was supposed to be gentle with her, the cluelessness on her face was pushing me overboard. “But, I don't want to go anywhere with you!” She yelled at me while furiously slapping my back with her hands. Infuriating more than I have ever experienced. I dropped her roughly and pinned her to the wall, trapping her fingers in between mine and locking them right above her head. “Quit being so feisty. This isn't the first time that you are meeting me.” I snapped at her, making sure she saw the fury in my eyes. Alexander had talked about my temper even though I was struggling to work on it. Her refusal to make things any easier than the other lifetimes, coupled with the thought of this being my only chance at ever living a fulfilling afterlife, pushed me beyond my limits. “I am willing to entertain you. I saved your life. You are not going anywhere until I say so.”
Chapter 8Olivia's POV How dare he?I thought to myself angrily. There was no way I was going with him anywhere, he had seemed serious about it, but I doubted he had anywhere else to be. I didn't know how much time had passed, but my door was thrown open, and he matched in again. Not knowing what he wanted, I squared up, ready to dish out the venom in my soul. “So, I haven't changed my mind about the journey. I just realized that you are not ready, and you have no idea the kind of life I am about to introduce you to. Alexander will teach you for the next one week, make sure to learn all you can...”“What exactly are you? You live in a lonely castle right in the middle of the evil forest, what do you want to reach me? How to swing from trees?” I fired at him. At that moment, I could have sworn that I saw the fire come alive like an active volcano in his pupils. He walked to me and I began to move back involuntarily, not stopping until my back was pressed to the wall. “You are test
Chapter 9Olivia's POV Four months later“Stand straight and aim at the target,” he said, his voice vexing me as he helped me straighten my arm to aim better at the target. “I am doing all I can. I don't know how else you want me to stand straight” I snapped at him, too exhausted to do anything else and also frustrated that nothing I was learning today was entering my head. My life had slowly taken a turn from what it used to be into something more interesting, I was beginning to enjoy the stability of knowing what I would do for the day. “If you don't stand right, you can easily be taken out by a target, why are you so stubborn?” He asked me, his frustration showing on his face too. “Fine,” I said, my voice slightly elevated and faced the target, without even waiting to be ready, I released the bow and the arrow lunged forward. The arrow missed the target totally and landed on the floor. I turned around to meet the furious face of Augustus. His eyes were hard, and he looked at
Chapter 76Olivia's POV I didn't know how much time had passed or how much longer I had, but this was hands down the toughest decision I had ever had to make. There was no one here and for a minute, I wondered if Elana wasn't supposed to be here as my ace guardian. Thinking about it again, this was a test to see my abilities alone without anyone's help. I was scared but then, I had not been with my family since I was born. It was hard to know what being with them would be like, I was curious. Augustus on the other hand, the thought of staying with him for the rest of my life was pleasing. I could feel my wolf leaping in joy. She wanted Augustus, we were going to pick Augustus but the thought of picking a man over my parents didn't sit right with me, so I decided that nothing was too big for me to sacrifice for them. Even if what I was sacrificing was my life and my mate. My hands were just about to pick my parents in a force field when I suddenly heard Elana's voice screaming my n
Chapter 75Olivia's POV “You are my father?” I asked the man who sat in front of me. He didn't look so much like me, but then, I could see some similarities. He was the reason I had crooked fingers, seeing his crooked ones too. “What do you think daughter?” He asked me and I nodded my head. I never expected to meet my real family like this, I knew they were dead, but somehow they are alive in a different world. “I thought you and mom died. How come you both are still here?” I asked him and he laughed. “Because this is not the real world. Every ace that has ever lived is here. This is the home of the Aces after death. It's why no one can find it. Out there in the real world, you have to be dead to it before you can have access to this place…"It was as if him saying out there in the real world had juggled my memory and I remembered Augustus. I thought sadly about how he would never be able to come and see my home. “I have to go back” I said and heard Elana gasp behind me, “what is
Chapter 74Augustus's POV It's been three days. Three days since Olivia and Elana had lost touch with this reality. I knew they were at the Ace Kingdom, the only kingdom that was untouched by time or the realities that we lived here. I am sure that Olivia and Elana do not know how long they have been there for. The kingdom was agog with activities, one that included them seeing their brave queen who brought them victory, but I couldn't tell them that their queen was an ace wolf, and she has gone home for now. I wondered what Olivia would choose when it was time for her to decide, a part of me dreaded that she might choose never to return her and have her body transported to the ace world. That would mean that I would never see her again, something that scared me more than life itself. “Your Majesty, the councilmen have been waiting for over four hours now. They think your delay is to disrespect them.” Alexander said and I hissed. I wasn't in the mood for those clowns, especially n
Chapter 73Olivia's POV “Princess?” I asked the strange woman as she smiled at me and bowed. I was confused, Elana looked equally confused. “Yes, very soon my darling, you will understand what is going on” she said and I sighed. “Here we go again” I murmured under my breath as I didn't like that she did not explain things to me immediately but rather, wanted me to wait and understand. “If you are the princess Olivia, it can only mean that your parents were actually ace royals” Elana whispered as we waited for the slow but grand arrival of someone I imagined was the royals that I was related to. Suddenly, all the wolves stood up, clapping and chanting like they were performing some sort of welcome ritual. I didn't know what to do or if I should join them. Elana bowed her head and since she was the only person I knew here, I followed her to do the same. “Rise my darlings” I heard a woman's voice above my head. When I raised my head to look at her, I was shocked to see the most pre
Chapter 72Olivia's POV My eyes widened in shock, I had heard about Ace Guardians only in the books I have stolen from my father's library to read about wolves. No one told me anything and I had been struggling to see if there was a way to strengthen the weak one that I had. “Yes, she is your ace guardian” Augustus said when he saw the shock in my eyes. “You knew?” I asked him and could see that Elana was shocked that he knew too. “Olivia, do you know how many lifetimes I have lived with the full memory in my head? Trust me, I can smell some things from a thousand years away” he said, with a smile on his face and turned his attention to Elana, “Elana, I want you to know that I, Olivia Augustus Mate, the Great Lycan king and Uniter of the wolves and all life forms accept you as her Ace Guardian wolf” Augustus said just as Elana began to glow. I started to glow too and jumped up in shock. I was confused. What in the bloody hell was happening to me? A lot of questions were rummaging
Chapter 71Olivia's POV “You mean I was never supposed to kill anyone?” I asked and Elana heaved sadly. “Did they tell you about your mom?” She asked me and I nodded my head but even then, there was so much about me that I didn't know. “Yes. They told me she was alive. I need to go back. I didn't mean to kill anyone, but I have a duty to protect my people” I said to her. “And you are sure you didn't kill her out of anger or anything else. Just what you have told me?” Elana asked again, she wasn't answering my questions, yet she kept asking me hers. I was confused. How did she know so much about me? “No, I didn't. Look, we can talk tomorrow morning, for now, there are certain things that I do not understand, and I am not in the right frame of mind to wrap my head around, do you mind if I get a few hours of sleep, and we regroup later in the day to talk about this?” I asked her, Elana looked at me for a while and threw her hands around my blood stained neck for some time. I hugged
Chapter 70Olivia's POV On the way back to the palace, I felt a new sense of power pumping through my veins. I felt powerful and energized, more than ready to take on any challenge that wanted to come my way. Augustus held my hands as a source of comfort, I appreciated it. The palace came into view and there was a sea of people waiting for us, including Alexander, who had a terrible look on his face before our eyes met. “Are you ready?” Augustus asked me, distracting me from my face off with his two faced beta.“Never been more ready” I replied and he squeezed my hands. We both smelt alike. We carried the scent of battle, a mixture of smoke and dried, caked up blood. He opened the door and the screams of victory welcomed us home. We made our way to the palace, the men, and women looking at me with a new-found respect. They had obviously heard the rumors and thought that I had betrayed them, but they were the closest thing to a real family that I have ever had. “Welcome home your ma
Chapter 69Olivia's POV Their eyes widened in shock when they saw my wolf. There was now chaos outside, and I knew that Augustus was taking care of every single man in that camp. I was tempted to go out to see him in action, but I also had some things to take care of. “It's…it's not true! It can't be” my father said and staggered backwards, nearly toppling over a bucket that had been kept there. Annalise didn't even move and no one helped to steady him. “How? You don't have a wolf? We made sure of it” my mother said, her eyes filled with confusion. “What do you mean by you made sure I didn't have a wolf?” I demanded, she looked at the ground and slowly backed away, her hands placed in front of her like a shield as I marched towards her. “Wait, I'll tell you everything. We exchanged your wolf for powers, we gave you to a deity so that we would become the Alpha and Luna of the pack” she said. “You mean, all those years you treated me like trash because I did not have a wolf, you a
Chapter 68Olivia's POV The guards threw me roughly in one of the tents, making sure to secure it properly. I could hear the guards beginning to surround my makeshift cell, and prayed to the moon goddess for victory today. “So, you said that you wanted to talk?” Lucia asked me with a satisfied smile on her face. “Stop this madness Lucia. It has gone on long enough. We had an agreement, and you were supposed to let me have three years before this. Why now?” I asked her, looking as concerned and passionate as much as I could. Lying was not a big forte of mine, but a queen had to make so many sacrifices, both for herself, her mate and the Kingdom itself. “I have a little surprise for you” she said and paused, “maybe not a surprise because I am sure you must have heard about it, but I just want to give you the honor of meeting your parents one last time” she said with eerie laughter reverberating around the room, “guards! Bring our lovely guests in” she yelled and I heard feet shuffl
