Olivia's POV
“Get up from the hay, you lazy wench!” I heard a familiar voice scream my name. Before the voice could even register, I felt a hand on my legs, and I was roughly pulled out if where I had fallen asleep. “You must think you will paint us bad.” my mother's voice finally became clear in my head and the suffocating gear that immediately permeated every bone in my body, threatened to leave me paralyzed. “Are you deaf? Do you not hear your mother speaking to you?” I heard my father's gruff voice and immediately jumped up. “Good morning Luna, Alpha.” I greeted and tried to wipe my eyes off the evidence of sleep. “Keep your dirty greetings to yourself. You knew that it is customary for us to show our guests around, yet you chose to embarrass us like this?” my mother yelled and pushed me away. I raised my eyes, I wasn't shocked to see the satisfying smile on Annalise's face. She was definitely the one that led the group here, everyone knew that guests were not brought into the horses stables. The horses were taken to them outside, but obviously things had changed, and I had not been aware. “Who is she?” one of the stern looking alphas looked down at me, his eyes were filled with so much disgust that I shrieked. Even after so many years of being used to being treated like rubbish and looked upon with disdain, the eyes of the man bore into me like he wanted to tear me apart with his bare hands. “She is my daugh...” my dad began to say. “She is no-one. Just some slave who doesn't know her place.” my mom said and my heart broke. I had thought that I was immune to their hurtful behavior but being thrown in the open like this was the final straw. “Oh look, she is crying, mom. Maybe you should have just had the guards drag her to the dungeon.” Annalise suggested, her voice sounding so sweet that you would not have seen the vileness in her eyes and the burning hatred in her voice. “You should have done that Alpha Brandon. A lowlife like her should not be in places where royalty like us would enter.” The man said, his eyes locked with Annalise's and they shared a knowing look. “I am sorry, Mom. I fell asleep last night while mucking the stables, I promise you that I was not trying to be disrespectful or…" A resounding slap cut the rest of my words short. I saw stars and struggled to stand straight while my entire world wobbled. It took a few seconds for the ringing sound in my ear to stop and when it finally did, I smelt the fresh blood running down my nose and ears. “Don't you ever call me mom. I am not your mother you weakling. I have only one daughter, Annalise Brandon. She is the one that I am proud of. A strong wolf, a proud representation of our pack.” my mom said, her voice dwindling in pitch in my ears, but her words still hurt more than a knife wound to the back. “Get out of here now before I lose my temper finally.” my father hissed between gritted teeth and I rushed out of the stable. I ran straight for the room I shared with my best friend, Elana, in the servant's quarters. I threw myself on the bed and the tears that I had held back for several weeks came rushing down. The pain of neglect and the betrayal from my family was final, even though they had treated me badly, they had never denied me before. “You know, you cry so much I feel like your eyes will pop out one day.” I heard Elana's voice from the day and managed to look at her through the tears that had blinded my sight. “They…they… she denied me. She asked me not to call her mom and that I was not her daughter. Everyone was there. I don't know what I ever did to deserve this.” I said and cried harder. “Don't annoy me. They are terrible people, and they hate you because you are notably better than them. Even though they are not convinced that you deserve to be loved, I want to tell you that I love you, and you are very deserving of it. I don't want these people's words to keep having an effect on you.” Elana said and walked to me. She held my hands and squeezed it reassuringly. “Thank you Elana. Sometimes, I don't know what I would have done if I did not have someone like you in my life.” I said, genuinely grateful for her timely intervention before I ruined my day with a headache from crying too much. “I know you didn't eat to bed, I saved you some breakfast. The head chef put me on duty today, so I was able to sneak some bread for you.” she said and smiled. As if on cue, my stomach growled and we both laughed. Elana was my ray of sunshine and she knew it. Even though my father had attacked her pack, taken her forcefully and killed her relatives. I've always wondered why but with how they treated me, I didn't think they needed any reason to hurt someone. “You know, you should really leave. You've never tried leaving, it might not be as dreadful as we think.” Elana said once we were done munching on the soft bread that she had snuck out of the kitchen. “You should steal some more bread.” I teased in a weak attempt to defuse the seriousness of the conversation that she was bringing up. “Don't try to change the topic. Leave. Someday, this people will not stop and who knows what would happen.” Elana said and that set a tone of dread in mind. I knew she was right and the sooner I fled for my sanity, the better for me, it was.Olivia's POV “Olivia Brandon!” I heard my mom yell from the pack house. “I wonder what she wants again.” Elana said, and walked into the bathroom that was nearly falling apart. I shook myself and prepared myself mentally for the worst. On my way to the pack house, I saw some servants looking at me and painting fingers at me. They didn't look too pleased to see me, but that was already something that I was used to. When I entered, I saw Annalise crying profusely. One of the young Alphas that had honored our Pack's invitation was cradling her warmly. “You called for me.” I said and bowed respectfully to my mom. “Where is Anna's necklace?” she demanded, and I was shocked. “What necklace Luna?” I asked her, clearly confused. For the second time that day, I felt my world stop. I had not even seen it coming until it was too late. My mother hit me again, much to the pleasure of Annalise and her new lover. “Your sister has just found her mate, and now she can't find her fav
Olivia's POV I ran. As fast as my legs could carry me. If I were a strong wolf, it would have been a different thing, but the strength of my wolf was barely any different from the strength of a human. The sounds of the guards were getting closer, and I knew that if I didn't do anything soon, I would be caught and a date worse than death awaited Elana and me. My heart was scared for her and I found myself worried. “I think she went over there.” I heard one of the guards yell in the direction that I was running in. I quickened my pace and soon found a waterfall. I hid at the back and waited for a while, the water should be able to mask my scent until the guards had given up on their search or at least changed directions. “I don't think so. We should go back to the palace. It's already late, and you know how close this is to the Lycan borders. We don't want their crazy mysterious animal king to hurt us.” another one said, and I was relieved that they were changing course. Aft
Chapter 6 Olivia's POV “How much longer do you think she would sleep for?” I heard a man's voice, the same registering in my head now as the same voice I had heard, just before I passed out.“Master, you have to be patient and give her time. We talked about this and you agreed.” I heard the unmistakable voice of the other man who had earlier introduced himself to me as Alexander.“Shhhh, she's waking up.” the man said and I opened my eyes. The blinding lights nearly blinded me, accompanied by one of the worst headaches I had ever experienced. I quickly closed my eyes and tried to adjust my sight to the light. “Turn off the light Alexander.” he said. “Who are you?” I asked the man, meeting his gaze for the first time.As soon as I set my eyes on him, it was almost like I had seen him before, flashes of a life I never knew passed through my head and I knew that whatever we had been the best romance I had ever experienced. “We have been waiting for you to come back.” the man said,
Chapter 7Augustus's POV “Quit kicking me” I yelled at her. She was obviously going to make this hard for me. Even though I was supposed to be gentle with her, the cluelessness on her face was pushing me overboard. “But, I don't want to go anywhere with you!” She yelled at me while furiously slapping my back with her hands. Infuriating more than I have ever experienced. I dropped her roughly and pinned her to the wall, trapping her fingers in between mine and locking them right above her head. “Quit being so feisty. This isn't the first time that you are meeting me.” I snapped at her, making sure she saw the fury in my eyes. Alexander had talked about my temper even though I was struggling to work on it. Her refusal to make things any easier than the other lifetimes, coupled with the thought of this being my only chance at ever living a fulfilling afterlife, pushed me beyond my limits. “I am willing to entertain you. I saved your life. You are not going anywhere until I say so.”
Chapter 8Olivia's POV How dare he?I thought to myself angrily. There was no way I was going with him anywhere, he had seemed serious about it, but I doubted he had anywhere else to be. I didn't know how much time had passed, but my door was thrown open, and he matched in again. Not knowing what he wanted, I squared up, ready to dish out the venom in my soul. “So, I haven't changed my mind about the journey. I just realized that you are not ready, and you have no idea the kind of life I am about to introduce you to. Alexander will teach you for the next one week, make sure to learn all you can...”“What exactly are you? You live in a lonely castle right in the middle of the evil forest, what do you want to reach me? How to swing from trees?” I fired at him. At that moment, I could have sworn that I saw the fire come alive like an active volcano in his pupils. He walked to me and I began to move back involuntarily, not stopping until my back was pressed to the wall. “You are test
Chapter 9Olivia's POV Four months later“Stand straight and aim at the target,” he said, his voice vexing me as he helped me straighten my arm to aim better at the target. “I am doing all I can. I don't know how else you want me to stand straight” I snapped at him, too exhausted to do anything else and also frustrated that nothing I was learning today was entering my head. My life had slowly taken a turn from what it used to be into something more interesting, I was beginning to enjoy the stability of knowing what I would do for the day. “If you don't stand right, you can easily be taken out by a target, why are you so stubborn?” He asked me, his frustration showing on his face too. “Fine,” I said, my voice slightly elevated and faced the target, without even waiting to be ready, I released the bow and the arrow lunged forward. The arrow missed the target totally and landed on the floor. I turned around to meet the furious face of Augustus. His eyes were hard, and he looked at
Chapter 10Olivia's POV My body swirled with emotions, one that I never knew existed. My toes curled up, and I felt the overwhelming urge to wrap my hands around his neck. He seemed to understand what I was feeling because his tongue invaded my tongue and my knees nearly buckled. Seeing myself responding to him with such shameless abandon made me feel upset with myself. I didn't like him, I hated him even, but he could evoke emotions in me more than anyone else I've met in my life. “You'll learn to obey me next time,” he said, and I was snatched out of my reverie to face the reality of him wearing a smug look on his face, looking down at me. It was then I realized that his lips were off me and I had totally fallen for his stupid games. I pretended to have hated it and wiped at my lips furiously, nearly causing it to bleed. The fire of desire in me immediately turned to the fire of rage, and I was determined to let him have a lick of everything.“You are not much of a good kisser.
Chapter 11Augustus's POV I took a long swig of the bottle in my hands, willing myself to feel some sort of intoxication, but it was of no use. Food and drinks had no importance in my life now because of the curse, but even if they did, I doubted that alcohol would have been able to douse the embers of lust that I felt. Even though she was not the same as my Ariel, there was something about her that would never change. She was fearless, it was one of the things that had attracted me to her at first, her eyes lit with the rage that I knew only I could evoke from her. Somehow, she had managed to curse us both, to be slaves to our love and her hate for me. “Help!” I heard the voice, clearly in my head. I got up, thinking if it was the alcohol that was finally having an effect, but, I didn't feel drunk. “Hel…help me” I heard the voice clearly and knew that it was Olivia. Alexander ran in almost at the same time, his face etched with worry and concern. “My king, I can't find the mist
Chapter 104Augustus's POV “I am only going to ask you one more time, Alpha Brandon, where is Olivia? Where is my wife?” I bellowed at the two figures in front of me. They were both shivering and looked like they had not expected this to happen even though I wondered why. Nile had given them up so easily, and I knew they would have noticed that. “We don't know, we swear. We won't be foolish to lie to you” Alpha Brandon responded, but I knew immediately that he was lying. I slapped him squarely across the face, pissed off that he thought I was someone he could mess around with.“Oh please, let my poor husband go. Nile lied to you. We did go to him, but he refused to let her come with us, we wanted to contact you, but we didn't want you to think that we had anything to do with it” the Luna said as the tears rolled down her eyes, but I didn't care. They were lying and everyone in this room knew it. I pulled out a dagger from my waist band and brandished it in front of the two old peop
Chapter 103Olivia's POVMy breath caught in my throat, he was definitely the last person that I had expected to see here. He was supposed to be dead, I saw his body with his face chewed up. Augustus had been so heartbroken with the whole thing. I was so confused. A lot was not making sense to me right now. “Don't look so surprised. You didn't think I would be that cheap to kill, did you?” He asked, his teeth glistening in the hot afternoon sun. I was so angry, each movement of his aggravating me. “How…how could you do this to him?” I asked, my emotions pouring into every word I said. “Do this to whom? The same man who threw me in jail because of you? I have been with that sick bastard for several lifetimes and each time, he has discarded me because of some woman he kept hoping would be you” he said, the anger evident in his voice as I had never heard him use that tone before. He had always been so sweet to me, I wondered what had changed and how he had become so bitter with a man
Chapter 102Olivia's POV “Father” I asked, not believing my eyes. The last thing I remembered was Nile dragging me out to the forest and telling me that he was going to leave me to be feasted upon by wild animals. He had injected me with something that immediately made me feel sleepy. Now, opening my eyes I was shocked to find myself in a place that I knew too much. It was my former pack, a place that I had run away from, disgraced and hurt. The one place that I never wanted to go back to. How had this happened? I asked myself. “Don't you dare call him that!” I heard my fake mother's voice and realized that these people were not my friends, they didn't love me. They are my enemies. I had to start seeing them in that light. “Well, I won't. To think that I forgot and bestowed such honor on the two of you” I snapped at him and Alpha Brandon slapped me. I felt the metallic taste of blood in my mouth and spat out a mouthful of blood. “You are still arrogant? After you had us thrown ou
Chapter 101Augustus's POV I crawled my way up the hill, making sure that none of my movements made more sounds than a whisper. The plan had to work, I needed to be sure that Elana had not been right about her suspicion, I didn't know what I would do to Nile if I found out that he had anything to do with the disappearance of my wife. Wife. The word sounded in my eyes. Olivia wasn't just my mate bound to me by the moon goddess, she was also my wife, bound to me by the laws of the kingdom in front of everyone we ruled over. It was different now, and I realized that I could not let her leave me. No matter how great I thought her being away for now, I knew her place was right beside me. Even all those lifetimes ago, she had captured my heart in ways that I didn't think was possible and every time I had to go back to Ariel, all that had consumed my mind at the end of the day was the explosive time I had with the other woman. The same man I now had a chance to be with after 999 lifetime
Chapter 100Elana's POV I could have sworn that Olivia was back in the palace. It was only when I got to Augustus's office that I realized that it was his guest that had the same scent with Olivia. It wasn't entirely hers, it was mixed with his also, meaning that this man must have been in the same place with Olivia within the last twenty-four hours. “My king, I would like us to speak privately” I said after I told him that I could scent Olivia. “Give me a few minutes” he said, and I went out to wait for him to finish with his guest. One that I suddenly didn't trust anymore. I knew that Augustus wasn't one to condone any form of evil, it was shocking that he was there drinking with a man that should clearly not be trusted. I had barely finished my train of thoughts when the door opened and Augustus came out with the strange man. They shook hands and the man gave me a respectful bow before leaving, I tried my best to smile, but I knew that I probably looked ridiculous. As soon as
Chapter 99Augustus's POV Even though it had been a week since Olivia disappeared from my life, the pain only increased with every passing second. I thought I knew where she had gone, she mentioned going to the human settlement but, I have combed every town and city in the last week and not even one person had seen her. "Your majesty” I heard Elana's quiet voice interrupting my thoughts, I had no desire to see or speak to anyone. "Elana" I said quietly, not even bothering to face her. “She reached out to me. I don't know, but she is in some sort of danger. I was cut off before I could get anything else” she said, and I immediately turned, my ears ready to listen to anything else that would point us in the right direction. “Why didn't she reach out to me?” I asked, a stab of jealousy piercing my heart. “I'm sure she only reached out to me because our connection is more shared. Technically, I am her guardian wolf.” She explained and I nodded my head. “What did you see? What did s
Chapter 98Olivia's POV “Oh, you thought I would not be able to find out your real identity?” He asked me when he saw how stunned I was. The food immediately lost its taste and turned to sand in my mouth. I was devastated and the only thing I wanted to do now was to run. The one thing I couldn't afford to do right now. “I…I… Am not Olivia or whatever you say her name is” I managed to say, my voice sounding alien even to me. He laughed, loudly, then got up and went to the mini bar behind his chair to pull out a bottle of raw alcohol. “You see, I had my doubts when I saw you. King Augustus has been on my radar for a while and I kept racking my brain on how to get him to notice me. When I saw you, I had my doubts but today, after seeing the way you have cleaned up nicely, I know without a doubt that you are queen Olivia of the Lycan Kingdom” he said, his voice increasing in pitch and tempo with every word. “I am not her. I am simply Freya, a young servant that was dumped by her lover
Chapter 97Olivia's POV The next time I gained consciousness, I was in a different room. My hands were no longer bound and the room had more ventilation than the previous one that I had been in. I struggled to get up, my body was weak from lack of food and the pregnancy that was tearing my insides with the need for food. Just then, there was a rustling of keys at the door and I quickly laid back down, pretending to be asleep. A middle-aged woman made her way into the room, she didn't even bother to look at me before setting the plate roughly on the floor, some of its contents spilling out of the plate. “I know you are awake, I saw you when you were running back to lie down on your bed. You better wake up and eat, the Alpha would soon send for you” she said and left the room before I could get a word out. Her words had stunned me, I laid there for some time before the rumbling of my stomach pushed me from the bed. I made my way to the plate, each step making me dizzier than I was.
Chapter 96Augustus's POV I couldn't shake off the gnawing feeling in my chest that something had happened to Olivia. Every moment had me feeling guilty, and I could have sworn that I heard her calling out to me this morning in my sleep. Ever since she left, which was now exactly 24 hours ago, I had imagined hearing her call me or her sweet scent welcoming me back to our chambers after a long day out there. My life felt empty, and I wished that I had not said anything to her about Ariel, instead, I had just told her the truth. “Your Majesty, you sent for me?” Elana said, I had not let her have a moment of rest since yesterday, she had done all she could to link with Olivia, but she was too far, beyond our reach. “Have you had any luck yet?” I asked, even though I already knew what the answer would be. “Not yet your majesty” she said and even though I already knew what the answer would be, my heart broke into a thousand pieces for the umpteenth time that day. “Fine.” I said grumpi
