Chapter 6

Olivia's POV

“How much longer do you think she would sleep for?” I heard a man's voice, the same registering in my head now as the same voice I had heard, just before I passed out.

“Master, you have to be patient and give her time. We talked about this and you agreed.” I heard the unmistakable voice of the other man who had earlier introduced himself to me as Alexander.

“Shhhh, she's waking up.” the man said and I opened my eyes.

The blinding lights nearly blinded me, accompanied by one of the worst headaches I had ever experienced. I quickly closed my eyes and tried to adjust my sight to the light.

“Turn off the light Alexander.” he said.

“Who are you?” I asked the man, meeting his gaze for the first time.

As soon as I set my eyes on him, it was almost like I had seen him before, flashes of a life I never knew passed through my head and I knew that whatever we had been the best romance I had ever experienced.

“We have been waiting for you to come back.” the man said, and I jerked my head up, so fast that I was hit by a fresh bout of dizziness.

“Thank you for saving me.” I said and sat up, holding my head.

“You are my mate.” the man said without any filter.

“I don't know you. I am only looking for a better life. Thank you for helping me, but I have to be on my way now.” I said.

“You really just want to open your eyes and walk out of here?” He asked me, looking puzzled that I wanted to leave.

“Yes.” I answered flatly.

“Well, I am sorry to disappoint you, but you won't be going anywhere.” He stated, and I could see the anger flaring in his eyes.

“Ermm, master, why don't you let me handle the mistress from here? You know…give her some time to regroup. She has been through a harrowing experience, I imagine.” Alexander said, but he said it in such a way that suggested that there was something going on here that I was not clear about.

“Fine. Deal with her, I don't know why she is constantly trying to make everything harder than it already was, every time.” He mumbled and left.

“What is his problem?” I asked Alexander as soon as the door closed.

“Oh, that's Alpha Augustus. He is a bit quick to anger, but I promise you, he is the sweetest soul to ever exist.” Alexander defended him.

“I don't like him.” I said and scoffed.

“I understand that Mistress…"

“Can you just call me Olivia? I don't think you have to call me Mistress because I am not that.” I snapped at Alexander and immediately felt bad for it.

“How come you are the only two people that I have seen in this park?” I asked him, without waiting for a response.

“Oh… Well, we are just here for a while. You'll soon be going home.” Alexander said, adding to my confusion.

“You know, every time I ask a question, you only end up confusing me more than I was about everything.” I said and Alexander chuckled like I had just given him one of the greatest compliments in the world.

“I am sorry about that mist… Olivia.” He said and I smiled at him.

“I have so many questions. Why does it seem like you know me? I know you said it wasn't in your place to tell me, but I am genuinely curious and if Your master is my mate, why don't I feel the overwhelming connection to him?” I asked Alexander.

“Your wolf is weak. As time goes on, you will get stronger and understand everything better. Be patient, Olivia and let everything play out.” He said.

“How do I leave here?” I asked Alexander.

“You can't. I'm sorry.” He said and immediately left the room, leaving me more confused.

A few hours later, Alexander brought me fresh clothes and a tray of freshly made food.

“Thank you Alexander.” I said to him, and he merely bobbed his head respectfully in response.

“Please eat Olivia. The master has made it himself. To apologize for how he acted earlier.” Alexander said.

“I don't care about his apology. First impressions count.” I snorted and opened the plate of food, the heavenly scent wafting into my nose, threatening to make me key into my animalistic side.

The thing was, I was sure I had never eaten this before, yet, my taste buds didn't find it unfamiliar when I took the first spoon. I was sure that this was my best meal, and it wasn't because of the hardship I had to face back at my pack.

“You will be taking a walk with the Master later.” He said and looked at me pleadingly, his eyes begging me not to make this hard for him.

“And what if I do not want to?” I asked him, quietly, my voice barely audible.

“Don't make this hard. Please.” Alexander said and walked out of the room again.

I finished the food shortly after he left and stood up to look at my surroundings. It was already evening and I could see the sun setting in the distance. Even though I was sure that this man was my mate, I felt absolutely nothing for him.

“Moon goddess, is that how I'm supposed to feel?” I questioned quietly.

“I have come to take you for the stroll.” I heard Augustus's voice from behind me and jumped.

“You should knock on the door. You scared me.” I said, more irritated about his presence than I ought to be.

“Let's go.” He said, as if he had not heard me.

“Well I am not going.” I said defiantly and went into the bathroom, slamming the door shut.

I had barely entered inside when the door was thrown open and Augustus walked in, hauling me on his shoulders like a big bag of hay.

Even though I was supposed to be gentle with her, the cluelessness on her face was pushing me overboard. “But, I don't want to go anywhere with you!” She yelled at me while furiously slapping my back with her hands. Infuriating more than I have ever experienced. I dropped her roughly and pinned her to the wall, trapping her fingers in between mine and locking them right above her head. “Quit being so feisty. This isn't the first time that you are meeting me.” I snapped at her, making sure she saw the fury in my eyes. Alexander had talked about my temper even though I was struggling to work on it. Her refusal to make things any easier than the other lifetimes, coupled with the thought of this being my only chance at ever living a fulfilling afterlife, pushed me beyond my limits. “I am willing to entertain you. I saved your life. You are not going anywhere until I say so.”

I didn't know how much time had passed, but my door was thrown open, and he matched in again. Not knowing what he wanted, I squared up, ready to dish out the venom in my soul. “So, I haven't changed my mind about the journey. I just realized that you are not ready, and you have no idea the kind of life I am about to introduce you to. You live in a lonely castle right in the middle of the evil forest, what do you want to reach me? How to swing from trees?” I fired at him. At that moment, I could have sworn that I saw the fire come alive like an active volcano in his pupils. He walked to me and I began to move back involuntarily, not stopping until my back was pressed to the wall. “You are test

My life had slowly taken a turn from what it used to be into something more interesting, I was beginning to enjoy the stability of knowing what I would do for the day. “If you don't stand right, you can easily be taken out by a target, why are you so stubborn?” He asked me, his frustration showing on his face too. “Fine,” I said, my voice slightly elevated and faced the target, without even waiting to be ready, I released the bow and the arrow lunged forward. The arrow missed the target totally and landed on the floor. I turned around to meet the furious face of Augustus. His eyes were hard, and he looked at

Seeing myself responding to him with such shameless abandon made me feel upset with myself. It was then I realized that his lips were off me and I had totally fallen for his stupid games. I pretended to have hated it and wiped at my lips furiously, nearly causing it to bleed. The fire of desire in me immediately turned to the fire of rage, and I was determined to let him have a lick of everything.“You are not much of a good kisser.

Chapter 11Augustus's POV I took a long swig of the bottle in my hands, willing myself to feel some sort of intoxication, but it was of no use. Food and drinks had no importance in my life now because of the curse, but even if they did, I doubted that alcohol would have been able to douse the embers of lust that I felt. Even though she was not the same as my Ariel, there was something about her that would never change. She was fearless, it was one of the things that had attracted me to her at first, her eyes lit with the rage that I knew only I could evoke from her. Somehow, she had managed to curse us both, to be slaves to our love and her hate for me. “Help!” I heard the voice, clearly in my head. I got up, thinking if it was the alcohol that was finally having an effect, but, I didn't feel drunk. “Hel…help me” I heard the voice clearly and knew that it was Olivia. Alexander ran in almost at the same time, his face etched with worry and concern. “My king, I can't find the mist

My eyes were tightly shut and even though it was dark, the moon illuminated the entire forest. “Are you okay?” He asked me, his voice breaking my train of thought. “Yes…" I mumbled, trailing off. I felt so weak and tired, the new emotions that I had been introduced to slowly lulling me to sleep. I could barely move a muscle and lay there, trying to catch my breath. Even though I knew the activity had made me tired, having to ward off a hungry lion for almost an hour was no easy feat, and I was glad that Augustus came at the time, he did. Even if I was not going to let him know. Mustering all the strength that I had left, I tried to get up. It was already late, and we should have gone to bed hours ago. I was so angry, each movement of his aggravating me. “How…how could you do this to him?” I asked, my emotions pouring into every word I said. “Do this to whom?
