Isaac explained, “Zariah is feeling like she is being watched. Is there anything you can do to see if you can find them?” She answered, “That would not be easy right now, Alpha. Zariah is being watched by many people right now. It would be easier to see if we can find them after the reception.” I nodded, “That makes sense.”

Winnie suggested, “I would like to be able to teleport into your room when you are almost ready to go up there. I have a feeling that I will find the culprit in there.” Isaac nodded, “I think you’re right. We will let you know when we are almost ready to go.”

She lowered her gaze, “I will be happy to help, Alpha and Luna.” I grinned widely at her, “Queen Winnie, we will always just be Isaac and Zariah to you.” Winnie winked at us and popped out to continue her patrols.

As the reception continued late into the night, the sensation of being watched kept growing. The idea of someone with evil intentions watching me was grating on my nerves so much that I was becoming h

I noticed that she was in Isaac’s room in the pack house. I looked around in her mind to see if I could see her intentions. She looked at Isaac and I could feel the anger she was feeling at being ignored. She continued singing and I took control of her hand.I saw that she had sharp claws so I grabbed her neck with her own hand. I stepped back slightly, so she could see what she was doing to herself. I made her dig her claws into her neck and pull out her vocal cords. She started gurgling as her airway filled with blood.I stepped completely out and gave her complete control again. She looked at her hand that was still holding a portion of her throat and she looked at me with wide eyes as she gurgled, “War. Is. Coming.” She then dropped to the floor and died.Alastair laughed, “Winnie, you underestimated your student. You didn’t need us at all.” I laughed, “I didn’t know I could do that either.” I stepped back from Isaac and realized that I wasn’t as drained as I thought I would be.Q

After a restful night’s sleep in the guest room and a particularly steamy shower with my mate when we woke up, we walked downstairs to the dining room to get some breakfast. When we walked through the door, all of the warriors stood and spoke in unison, “Our Alpha and Luna! We pledge to fight for you and we will gladly sacrifice our lives to be sure you are safe.”I looked up at my mate’s face and his eyes were shining through unshed tears… just like mine. I bowed my head to them while Isaac smiled, “My warriors we all serve our pack. We will all gladly sacrifice our lives to ensure our pack is safe. I am proud to serve beside you. I will never ask you to go where I would not go myself.”We went to the buffet tables and filled our plates. When we sat at our table, his parents followed us. Former Alpha Kenny smiled at his son, “Isaac, I am so proud of you. You handled the siren situation without panicking the pack.”Isaac shrugged, “It was more my Luna than me. You should’ve seen what s

I jumped up from my chair, shut and locked the door. I took Lena’s hand and asked, “Would it be okay for me to hug you?” With tears in her eyes, she nodded. We went over to my couch and I held her tightly, comforting her with my mother luna aura. She was crying the most hurtful cry I had ever heard and it caused me to cry.I continued looking into her memories as I held her and let her let it all out. The level of abuse in all forms just totally floored me. I kept trying to find out where her mother was during all this. It didn’t take long before I found her mother. Her mother’s chosen mate had not just beaten her mother until she was near death, but he also cut her throat with a silver knife. When he finished, he approached Lena, “Now no one is stopping me.” That was when the emotional and physical abuse turned into attempted sexual abuse. It was only because she had been taking our self-defense classes that he was not successful. When Lena’s crying settled down, I asked, “Do you have

Alex backed up until he was next to her, “He didn’t report her death?” She shook her head, “No. He killed her and he did not have anyone to blame it on. He was trying to avoid punishment, but he also liked torturing me by making sure I could smell her.”I shook my head and tried to keep the tears from falling. Alex looked at me, “I will call the hospital and have them get her body out of there as soon as he is out of there. Then we can have a funeral for her.” Lena and I nodded our heads in agreement.Alex left Wendy and my warriors with me and started to leave only stopping to remind me, “Don’t forget to tell our Alpha.” I laughed, “I’m sure he’s already trying to hurry up and get to me.” He nodded in agreement, “I have no doubt.”Lena and I finished eating and we started walking back to my office. As soon as we got there, my mate walked in and Lena immediately dropped her gaze to the floor, “Alpha.” I smiled, “Lena, it’s okay. She looked at me and I introduced her to my mate, “Alpha

Lena sat straight up and started shaking all over. I ran to her and wrapped my arms around her. While Isaac spoke with Alex about what was happening, Lena cried on my shoulder.I whispered words of encouragement and comfort to her while I rubbed circles on her back. I started crying with her because no child should have to be terrified of an adult who helped raise them. When her crying reduced to just a few tears falling once in a while, Isaac asked, “Lena, I know this is hard for you, but do you have a picture of him?”She nodded, “Their wedding photo is on my mom’s dresser in the master bedroom. He doesn’t have any pictures on his dresser, so you can’t miss it. I really can’t go back into that house. My mom’s phone is on the dresser too. There might be some photos of him in it.”Alex produced a clear bag and asked, “Is this her phone?” She nodded with tear filled eyes, “It is. Can I look at the pictures?” Alex took the phone out of the bag and handed it to Lena.Lena took the phone a

TRIGGER WARNING: DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF DOMESTIC ABUSE IN THIS CHAPTERAs we all walked to the house, we tried to keep the conversation light while Isaac ordered pizza. I asked Lena, “Do you play video games?” She nodded, “I’m old school though. I like Tetris and other puzzle type games.”I smiled, “You’re going to love our games then. We have my old Sega system from when I was a kid.” She gasped, “I love the old Sega games!” I smiled, “It is set up in my old room, which is about to become your new room. If you want to redecorate it, we can do that. You just let me know what you think.”We were almost at our house when some of our warriors ran ahead of us. Lena asked, “What are they doing?” I sighed, “They are going to search the house to clear it of any bad guys if they are hiding in there. It has happened before.” She gasped, “Really?”I nodded, “I am a special wolf. Do you know what that is?” She nodded and I continued, “There are a lot of alphas who want a special wolf in their pa

When everyone calmed down, we agreed to come up with a plan to capture Anthony Reynolds alive. We have too many high-ranking men who want to see him suffer as he dies slowly and painfully. We also agreed to keep Lena guarded. She will not be left alone for even a minute. At night, she will have a warrior posted below her bedroom window. That warrior will not be allowed to move unless he has someone to take his place for a break. We agreed that we would leave it up to her if she feels safe going to school until Anthony is put in our cells and/or dead. If she chooses to stay home, then she can either come to work with me and Wendy can work on her homework on my couch, or she can stay home with Wendy and four other warriors in and around the house. She can do her homework at home.Isaac and I wanted to make sure she knows that she is not on lockdown. The warriors are not there as guards to keep her locked up. They are her bodyguards to keep her safe. If she wants to come to the pack house

I heard a man groan loudly and Wendy walked out of the closet, “The threat has been neutralized.” She placed her weapon on the dresser and walked back into the closet. When she emerged from the closet, she was dragging a screaming Anthony Reynolds, with a gunshot to his thigh, behind her and I heard a loud series of growls behind me.Apparently, I had been followed by Isaac and the rest of our guards. Isaac growled, “How did you find that door?” Anthony answered, “It’s not like it was very well concealed.” I walked to him and placed pressure onto his wound with my foot, “Who told you about that door?”Anthony growled in pain, “You fucking bitch!” I stomped hard on his leg, hearing bone break, “Tell the TRUTH!” He growled, “I knew your grandfather. He had me install the door before you came here from the hospital.” I shook my head, “It’s too bad that’s the last time you will remember it’s there.” I turned him to the warriors, “Take him to the cells.”I hurried to Lena and wrapped my arm

After the initial crowd of people were let out of the gates, I turned to Isaac, “That’s not all of them. There is one face, in particular, that was not present.” My mate nodded, “I know. I have already sent warriors to get them.” I suddenly watched his eyes glaze over and I knew something was wrong. When his eyes cleared, he growled, “The warriors are having to forcefully bring her and her entire family here. They are refusing to leave.” I sighed, “I was hoping it wouldn’t come to this.” I mind linked Lena, “Hey sweetie, can we use your levitation skills for a bit? We have an argumentative family. They are giving our warriors a hard time about leaving.”She smiled, “Sure, mom. Can I use your computer to look at the cameras?” I smiled, “Please do.” It didn’t take long before the entire family floated to the gate. Isaac smirked, “I never even thought to use our daughter’s ability.” I shrugged, “That’s why you have me, love. We complement each other.”When the family was placed on the gro

After hearing all of them whine and cry on the way out of the pack house, Isaac and I went to the dining room to join our children. When we reached the dining hall, all three of them waved us over to our table. Isaac escorted me to the table and I asked, “Would you please get a glass of tea for me?”Isaac nodded and went to the beverage station to prepare our drinks and I turned to our children, “Blaine, you don’t have to worry about any of them hurting you again. They are being banished. Your dad and I just need to do the official banishment in about an hour.”Blaine asked, “Why in an hour?” I answered, “Because there are a couple of them that did things to you that were so awful that I want every trace of them gone. I want every single family member gone. You understand me, don’t you?” He nodded, “I understand. Thank you, mom.”Isaac sat my coffee in front of me and then took a seat next to Blaine, “We would do anything to keep all of our kids safe.” Blaine asked, “Wouldn’t you do an

Ten minutes later, we were all in Isaac’s office, waiting for the rest of the employees from the orphanage to arrive. I sat in my wheelchair next to Blaine while my girls sat on the couch on my other side. Isaac sat at his desk, smiling at all of us.I asked, “What has you so happy, love?” He smiled, “If you could see what I see, you would be happy too. Seeing my whole family together makes my heart happy.”Blaine furrowed his brow, “What do you mean?” I smiled, “Let me see.” I was able to easily access Isaac’s mind and look through his eyes. I smiled at the sight and turned to the kids, “I wish we could frame this memory and display it in the main foyer. It’s absolutely perfect.”I projected the photo onto the white wall and all of our kids gasped. Lena laughed, “Mom, you need to warn us before you do that. Blaine didn’t know you could do it.” I looked Blaine in the eyes, “Son, you are a special wolf in a family of special wolves. We are going to keep this a secret until you are older

Blaine looked at Isaac and me with determination, “I can tell you who the abusers are, Luna.” I moved my wheelchair close to his and asked, “Are you okay, sweetheart?” He nodded, “I will be okay. I always am.” I smiled, “I know you are. I want to know how you would feel about being able to call the alpha and I your mom and dad?”His eyes went wide as he asked, “Can I call Heather and Lena my sisters?” I laughed as Lena walked in, holding Heather’s hand, “You better, because we will be calling you our little brother.” Blaine smiled, “I would love that, Luna.” Isaac asked, “Do you know what that means, Blaine? Do you know what it means to be our only son?”Blaine shook his head as he furrowed his brows in confusion, “I don’t, Alpha.” Isaac knelt down to his level, “It means you will be my heir. You will be the next alpha of our pack. Would you like that?”Blaine’s eyes went wide again, “I would be happy just having you as my family.” I smiled, “Well, you will also have that for the rest

I understand completely. This is an emotional time. I have something to ask you.”Aadi raised her brow, “Ask away.” I asked, “Would you be willing to be my personal assistant and nurse? I would make sure to allow you time to volunteer at the orphanage, if you want, and you would also be Blaine’s nurse, because we are adopting him as soon as we leave the hospital.”Aadi smiled, “I would love to accept the position. Four hours later, I was in my hospital room trying, and failing, to take a nap. I had too much on my mind and I would start sobbing at random times. I could not find peace within myself at all. I felt so guilty that we could not protect her the way she needed us to.I suddenly felt so heavy that I had no choice but to sleep. As soon as the darkness fell around me, I was immediately surrounded by the brightest light I had ever seen. It was red too. My first thought was, “Shit. I have pissed off the Goddess.” Then I heard her voice, “Yes, you have. Zariah, you know more than anyone that you cannot control the actions of other people.”I cheekily responded, “Well, actually, you did give me a certain ability.” The light got brighter, if that was even possible, “You cannot control what they do on their own. Do not patronize me right now. I’m not in the mood for games. Now. This is what you will do. You will stop feeling sorry for yourself. None of this is about you. It’s about your pack, yo

Aadi and I went to the room where Cheyenne was waiting to be taken for burial preparation. I was immediately struck by the amount of blood that was on the sheet covering her body. Apparently, Aadi was also stricken by the sight because she ran to Cheyenne’s body and collapsed onto it.I asked, “Exactly what was your relationship with Cheyenne, Aadi?” She answered, “Cheyenne was my late mate’s baby sister. She took shelter in this pack after running from a human testing facility. She destroyed the place on her way out of it.”I asked, “Did you know that Blaine is her biological son?” She nodded, “I did. Cheyenne swore me to secrecy. I was with her when she gave birth to him.” I asked, “Do you know who his father is?” She shook her head, “No. I don’t know exactly who he is. I know he was a rogue and a trafficker who had sold her to the lab. He took her virginity on the way to sell her. He’s an evil man. It’s a wonder that she was able to give birth to Blaine.”I cried, “So much for one s

We can reschedule PT until later. It’s not like I’m getting out of here today.”The nurse helped me scoot into my wheelchair and we took off for the Emergency Department like a bat out of hell. When we got there, I found my mate and he was holding our sobbing daughters closely. Heather was the first to see me and she ran to me, “Momma! She’s gone.” I sobbed, “I’m so sorry, sweetheart.”While Heather climbed into my lap, Isaac approached, “She’s right. They couldn’t save her. Her heart had been still for too long.” I shook my head and started crying. TRIGGER WARNING: Domestic abuse scene ahead (this chapter only)It had been two days since we initially spoke with Cheyenne about being my private nurse and assistant and we haven’t seen her since then. I was starting to get worried about her. I was still in the hospital because I had not completed my physical therapy requirements. My doctor wanted to be sure I could perform all activities of normal daily living safelyWhen the morning nurse came to take her morning vitals, I asked, “What happened to Cheyenne?” The nurse asked, “We are sending one of our coworkers to her place right now. She didn’t call in to let us know she won’t be in. That’s not like her at all.” I suggested, “Let me check on her before anyone goes in.”I watched as the nurse mind linked the coworker to hold off going to Cheyenne’s house, then I tried to get inside Cheyenne’s mind to see what she was seeing at that moment. It was harder than usual to do it, and then I saw nothing in her mind at all. That scared me b
