Chapter 1

“You still look as beautiful as ever in that dress Helen.” Nathan got up and got dressed himself and went downstairs to see how the preparations were going for Sam`s b-day ceremony as well as the other wolves that turned 18 today. Some of them were her friends for school. ‘I hope if she doesn't find her mate or gets rejected that they`ll be there for her.’  

After Sam got dressed and went downstairs, she saw Rebecca, a friend of hers who was going to be her beta. She walked into the kitchen where the omegas were preparing the pack house for the party tonight and walked over to her best friend. “Are you excited to find your mate and meet your wolf tonight? I really hope Lucas comes tonight.” Sam paced around the kitchen too excited to stay still wondering if Lucas had found his mate already because he is a year older.  

“The only reason you want Lucas to come tonight is so you can find out if he's your mate Sam. It is obvious to everyone that you like Lucas since you always talked about him at lunch and about the postcards, he sent you or the playdates you guys had. I know you realize it is a small chance since they left and that he's already found his mate. Another reason is to figure out why he left and stopped the visits and the postcards. I just do not want you getting your hopes up too much and having them crushed. I'm excited to meet my mate and to meet my wolf,” Rebecca said, concerned for her friend.  

“I know that but I still can't help the fact that I love Lucas and I can't wait to meet my wolf and shift too.” Sam decided to help with preparations since she had nothing else to do until tonight when the party starts. She walked over to the kitchen where the omegas were hanging up the banners, cleaning the kitchen, and making the cakes. “Anything I can help with to make it easier for you? I don't have anything to do until tonight” She asked her friend Timmy.  

“W-what you want to help us with omega duties alpha Sam? I do not know if you can help us through, but I guess you can help Harry carry the cakes out. He keeps dropping them so we`ve had to start over every time. I think everyone else is good, we`re just behind with the food.” Timmy replied briefly before going back to cleaning the kitchen.   

After talking to her friend Timmy Sam walked over to where Harry was working. “Hi Harry, Timmy told me you might need some help with carrying the cakes. So, I came by to see if you would like my help with it so you can get finished and get ready for the party tonight.” She smiled knowing Harry liked her and wouldn`t turn down some help.  

Harry turned around at the sound of Sam`s voice and lost his balance and dropped the cakes he was picking up to carry over to the table they had set up for the party.  

Sam quickly caught the cakes before they fell on the floor again and would be even farther behind with the food. “Here you go Harry you should be more careful when turning around so you don't drop stuff.” She felt her cheeks flush as she saw his shirt get torn on the sharp edges of the table where it has been broken. “Harry, you should change your shirt. It's torn and I'll put these cakes on the table for you.” Sam walked over to the table where the food was and set the cakes down.   

When She came back to help Harry with the food, he was standing there frozen like a statue with his face bright red.   

                                                  

                                                     

Harry`s Pov  

I was told by Alpha Nathan and Luna Helen that I was to make the desserts for tonight's party and they gave me a list of what foods to make and what ingredients I was going to need to buy. I went out with my friend Timmy to get the right ingredients and to help me carry them. I`m known in the pack as a klutz since I am always falling over my own feet or tripping over my tail and dropping stuff. The omegas in this pack are treated more fairly than you would expect. Don`t get me wrong we still have to be punished if we break the rules or go against direct orders from Alpha.  

After we got everything and came back to the pack everyone started on their assigned chores since we only had so much time to get everything together before the party started. I started on making the cakes for the party. It was tricky trying to carry them and not drop them all even if I just carried them one at a time. At one point I got yelled at by Greg for dropping the cakes because it was causing everyone to fall behind with the rest of the preparations. Before I could take the next batch of cakes down to the table Sam came by and offered to help me with them. When I turned around to speak with her my shirt got caught on the sharp edge of the table.  

The abrupt motion had unbalanced the cakes and they started to fall as I tried to catch them; my shirt ripped free from the table. Thankfully though Sam had caught the cakes and I wouldn`t have to start over for the thirteenth time today. Before I could tell her how grateful I was she caught them and that I would like her help. She flushed red and told me I should change my shirt. After she left to take the cakes for me and I looked down to see how bad it was I saw that my shirt had a huge hole on it but so did my pants and the zipper that was already broken was torn open. My face turned red and I just wanted to be invisible. I was so embarrassed that I did not notice Sam when she came back to me.  

After the initial shock I realized my mom would be so furious with me for ruining another pair of clothes. “Thank you for helping me Sam. I appreciate it. Everyone kept yelling at me because we would be in trouble with the alpha if we weren't done by the time the party started tonight.”  Harry ran off still embarrassed about that because he likes Sam. That was really embarrassing since his dick had a mind of its own sometimes when he was around her. When he got to his family's rooms in the pack house, he went into his room to change his clothes. After he had picked out the clothes, he was going to wear he noticed that he was hard. He felt his ears grow hot and knew he would have to explain it to Sam and apologize later. After Harry went back to the kitchen, he started helping Sam finish the desserts.  

Sam's Pov  

After Harry left, I smelled something different about him that I have not smelled in a long time from my parents long ago. They said it was arousal and I realized why he was so red, but I did not notice it. So, with only a little less than an hour left I went out for a walk to the fountain and I let the cool mist spray my skin. I was itching to go for a run and I knew it was my wolf in me because of the full moon in the sky hidden by the tall maple trees. I could not go for a run though because of the rain we had this afternoon it would get my dress all muddy. Damn it if only I could shift into my wolf now, I could go for a run and feel the wind through my fur. Sam thought as she started walking back to the pack house close to the fountain.  

When She got home and opened the door to the pack house, what she saw made her so happy. Lucas was here for her b-day and for her first shift. She walked over to Lucas, nervous, unsure of what to say. “Hi Lucas it's been so long since I’ve seen you.”  

“Yeah, it's been quite a few years since we have talked and I’m sorry I haven't been in touch more. After we left, my sister found her mate from another pack during our travels. I wanted to stay in touch, but my parents wouldn`t let me contact you because I was being groomed to become another Female alpha`s mate for a treaty. We did not like each other at all and she liked someone else in my pack so we made it work. I was barely able to convince my parents to let me come tonight after your parents invited me to cheer you up.”
